pulled-pork mac n cheese. was really good just like everything else here. the pulled-pork is house smoked. not a big fan of the sun-dried tomatoes that they add on top but it was still a really good one.

awesome!. great place!

amazing breads, desserts, baked goods.

had an awesome lunch--croque monsieur and the tuna sandwich: both were fantastic.

communal dining was fun. plus we went on a sunday at lunchtime and had no problems finding a seat (although it was busy).

food is over complicated. taste is good, however the chef seems immature in his cooking style as he tried to do too much and it comes off as insecure. perhaps separate pastry and food chefs would be in order. service was slow and discombobulated. nothing arrived at the same time and much of it was cold. my friend's thai chicken sandwich had very undercooked chicken. i am fairly sure nothing was local or organic or particularly artisanal other than bing house made. i was over sold and not quite impressed. i would not recommend.

i found it just ok, for all the hype its actually kind of pretentious and over priced...but that's what a lot of people in that community like so have at it, id chose ottawa bagel shop over that any day.

though i did really like their homemade ketchup and brought a bottle home.

best laid back atmosphere for lunch in ottawa!. well made sandwiches and soups. i recommend getting there early on the weekends as their selections sell out. pastries are divine but again, get there early!

everything is perffeecto. strange location, a little out of the way but so worth it. everything they make is of the highest quality, from the sandwiches to desserts. not a one stop deal - you will find yourself coming back for more:3

sweet treats are nice. i like their sweet treats. croissants with almond cream and almond brioche are very tasty. portion is large too. lemon tart is too sweet. macarons are okay, i wish they have more flavour.

i had the most amazing breakfast at art is in. it was my first time there and can be confusing if you aren't expecting the atmosphere. large, open, industrial area with cafeteria style / coffee house seating. order, grab your table number and find a seat. the servers will bring your food to you.
i had the french toast stack, which was tall n tasty. with a couple eggs cooked perfectly (a quick a tap and the yolk pours down the toast). the bacon and cheese added the savory to the sweet of the toast and maple syrup.

they brew an excellent coffee there too.

the food is delicious on many levels. the atmosphere is great with a variety of clientele including families, elderly couples, and those on break from work. turnover is quick and although it was quite busy both times i’ve visited, we never had trouble finding space to share and dine with others. service is quick and friendly. my only regret is not buying some fresh loaves of bread to go!

amazing food, but the service?. i consider art is in to be one of the best bakeries in ottawa. their breads are out of this world, totally exquisite! their sandwiches and breakfasts are fabulous, a bit expensive, but the high quality is worth the price.

the only issue i have with this place is with the service. first, the hours are not accommodating. given their popularity and reputation, they should be able to have better hours to serve the regulars. secondly, the girls who work there tend to be a bit curt and unfriendly. why though? this is ottawa, not nyc or paris...! artistic does not equal snobby and pretentious... sorry, that's uncool. for this reason, i usually just takeout my food. overall, needs amelioration with service but food is wonderful indeed.

flavorful and filling. amazing. everything is popping with flavour (although in the case of the lemon-coconut pastry, perhaps too much--and i say that as a lemon-coconut fiend).

since we live far away, we splurged on our one trip there:

1. pastries: the raspberry scone was delicious, with a great texture and tons of flavour. the berliner was also great, even after sitting for a day. the chocolate-walnut cookie was perhaps too much of a good thing.
2. the rosemary-garlic sourdough was amazing, and the next day we broiled it with some spices and some cheese to serve as a companion to soup.
3. the quiche was a perfect, fluffy, great-tasting soft quiche with a large helping of greens.
4. the pulled pork mac-n-cheese was flavourful, cheesy, and filling (don't be fooled by the tiny cup it is served in!)
