super delicious sandwiches. are they expensive? yes. are they overpriced? if it were for the quality of the sandwich alone, i would say no. however, considering the fact that you will likely have to wait more than 20 minutes for a salad, and that your chances of getting a relatively friendly staff member to take/give you your order are about 50/50, yes. they are overpriced. i can get sandwiches that are just as good without the hefty price tag, long wait and shitty attitude. it took me a long time  to decide this (because that's how delicious the sandwiches are) but i'm not going back (because that's how bad the service is).

good food, rude service. even if this place is overrated, i do like their pastries and bread. however, it's overpriced and staff is most of the time rude. they are always sold out of many of the menu items.

this place will be my demise...or at least for my figure. i just moved down the street and my semi annual dalliance with artisan has turned into semi-monthly food affair. but i just can't get enough or at least i just can't seem to get a breakfast burger! i have been trying almost everything on the (sunday brunch) menu and they are all delicious and extremely filling for one person. only one i'm not crazy about is the regular eggs benny...which i find a bit plain but that's just me. i absolutely love the pulled pork breakfast sandwich and breakfast poutine. if you are a light-weight bruncher, these items should be ordered with a side of a take-out box. i love my food/meat and this was too much even for me. i can only imagine what the breakfast burger is like. mmmmm can't wait!
ohhh ps- you must try their pastries. it's perfectly balanced in sweetness, texture and decadence.
and if you are a big eater- highly highly recommend the big k burger. it's worth every penny (and extra inch around the waistline)

service from staff can be very good to very poor. many occasions there was no coffee in urns or no cream / milk at coffee station. staff behind counter are often not organized.

get the burger! or anything with the jalapeño cheddar bread. if i want to impress someone who’s new to ottawa or visiting, i bring them to this place. it’s not easy on your diet or your wallet but worth the cheat day by far! i’ve been on multiple occasions and have been consistently satisfied. i struggled with what i’ll have each time as i can get caught in wanting what i’ve already had and trying something else that sounds delicious. when game time comes, i usually have whatever sandwich that comes in the jalapeño cheddar bread (usually it’s the chicken caesar sandy). i never regret that decision!

catering a disappointment. on the suggestion of a colleague we decided to have our catering done here for a baby shower. when it arrived, we noticed that a number of items that were ordered were not included. we ordered a variety of sandwiches and salads.

we chose to contact art is in and inform them of their error and discuss getting a refund on the missing items (which were all the most expensive items). we got nothing but silence to our initial email. we emailed again a couple weeks later and still silence. very disappointed that they would not even acknowledge our issue.

overall, very disappointing experience and i would not recommend their catering.

no inventory, staff not pleasant. we just left from this place and i have to say i am very disappointed. we saw art is in featured on a tv show and were very excited to try it.

there was a line when we (4 of us) got there around 2:45 pm - not a huge line though. the menu showed that 2 items were sold out. unfortunately, one of which was the pickle sandwich featured on the show that i really wanted to try. the cashier explained that they don't make it on the weekend. really?! strange but whatever. i'll try something else.

i picked the chicken caesar, my 2 kids the angus sandwich. they let us know there was only one half of an angus left. one of my kids then chose the chicken caesar while the cashier was going to go "check if they still actually had the angus left." nope, no angus so he chose the grilled cheese.

we place the rest of our order, then paid, and got seated. a few minutes later, a waitress comes and tells us there is no chicken caesar left. only 3 sandwiches are left, out of about 8-10. they ask us if we want to substitute for the grilled cheese. ummm no. i just paid over $12 for chicken caesar, i'm not accepting an $8 grilled cheese.

we ended up canceling our whole order and leaving hungry! the staff gave us a hard time about canceling our whole order but really, why would we stay when we can't get our 1st, 2nd, 3rd choices?! totally disappointing experience. :(

great place for a date!. went with my boyfriend for some breakfast. we both got the bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich, but he paid an extra $1 to get it on a croissant. omg the croissant was absolutely perfect. he said it was the best breakfast sandwich he has ever had. i was jealous i just got the buttermilk seed bread (also good, but nothing compared to the croissant).
cute hipster decor. in the middle of nowhere good luck finding it.

rude staff, limited inventory. went there friday to pick up a quiche to bring to the cottage. they were sold out of quiche, and i was informed of that in a tone that suggested i was an idiot for asking for a quiche in the first place. i then asked for a pizza, and again was told that the selection i made was unavailable. when i expressed some frustration at the situation, the response was "well, we do close in an hour", again suggesting that their lack of product was somehow my problem. when i suggested that they post magnets over their menu board indicating that a particular item is "sold out" to better communicate with customers, i was rudely told "we don't do that." guess what i don't do.....return to art is in.....

they have jacked their prices. it is delicious stuff, but yesterday i got a weirdly shaped and size double-chocolate cookie. it was very thin, almost wafer like.

they are doing some renos. maybe one day they will have more seats and be wheelchair accessible.

what a lunch!. we arrived and noticed a long line. some things are worth their wait i guess. so when we finally got to the order i was confused and wanted to start again at the back of the line. when my order was finally called it was gigantic. i ate every last bite of it and swore i would never go back. but i will. mmmm

it's $3.25 for one cookie now! regardless of whether the food is good or not, that's just greedy gouging.
