this place hasgoodfood, extremely over priced and the owner is always trying to find ways to make money on the back of people who support him. 10$+ for a cold sanwich isint the best thing ever. and i'm from around that neighborhood and hears thru the branches that the owner is a real jerk to his employees. seen him myself getting mad at some people and he just gives out the feeling of being a cry baby. knowing people who work there i would absolutely avoid working there unless you want to be treated like crap by a bipolar chef.

great food, great atmosphere. it seems like a lot of reviewers are professional complainers who want great food for mcdonald's prices!. i find the atmosphere at art is in to be great, and the employees are always friendly. the food isn't the cheapest in the city, but i've always found the quality to be excellent. i'm very willing to pay more forgoodquality! i especially like the crazy special kronuts they've been making on thursdays.

good food but the place is a zoo. what a stressful way to eat brunch. the food wasgoodbut the pleasure was diminished by having to balance my plate on my lap, along with my coffee.
great idea but too much hassle for me.
excellent pastries and the best croissant in ottawa.

all in all a fantastic meal and service was quick. even with the take-out line almost out the door, it moved quickly.

this is the brunch of all brunches. i don’t think anywhere can compare to how insanelygoodthis place is. between the pastries and the incredible menu, it can’t be beat. it’s totally worth the line - i promise!!!

i would definitely recommend this spot to others visiting ottawa. great casual spot with friendly staff. once you get through the long, but fast moving line to the counter, the cashiers were very helpful and didn't rush us even though we had questions. the have a seasonal and changing menu. once you order, you receive a table number marker to self seat and the staff will bring your food once ready. there were individual and communal tables along with a love seat in the back corner. there was a verygoodselection of sandwiches made with fresh in-house baked breads. the thai chicken sandwich was flavourful and had great crunch. the carrot ginger soup was warming and they did not skimp in ingredients for the clam chowder! the doughnuts were on the bready side but their croissants (we had almond and chocolate) were buttery and flaky. the coffees and cappuccinos were also a hit. there is a separate line for the baked goods which is helpful. overall i would definitely come again.

i heardgoodthings about this place and bought their bread at farm boy before, but this place totally lived up to my expectations. went for lunch on a week day and it was quite busy. i had the fried crispy pickle melt which was to die for, and my bf had the tuna melt, which was ok, and the clam chowder - which is one of the best we've ever had. the only negative aspect of this place is the location: who wants to eat in an industrial parking lot with the occasional garbage truck?

art is in is one of my favourite lunchtime destinations. they've made changes to the interior recently, so there are a lot more places to sit inside, as well as outside. it looks a lot better now, although it's still pretty loud indoors.

i've never had a meal i didn't like here, although i tend to lean towards the different sandwiches. the thai chicken is stellar. the pastries are marvellous so don't leave without a little somethin' somethin'.

tip: arrive early for lunch and expect it to take a while. i don't mind the wait because it'sgoodfood here.

dropping by to pick up a loaf of bread? do it. best time to go is late in the afternoon after the lunch crowds have cleared out. sometimes the selection is picked over and depleted, but in my opinion the bread is very much worth going at this time just to avoid the rush.

note! the parking situation at the city centre has changed recently. it's free to park here for 90-minutes but you must get a parking chit from the machine and pick the "free" option. they do patrol and ticket, so consider yourself warned.

we have always loved art is in and its pastries. we also loved their sunday brunch menu so we were disappointed when we went recently and found out that they have discontinued their sunday brunch menu. my partner loved their breakfast poutine (which included 3 types of meat, egg, and veggies) so he was disappointed when he found that it was not on the menu. he ordered kevin's poutine (which was on their today's special menu) and was greatly disappointed. it was small and overpriced for what it was. i had the lambourghini breakfast sandwich (lamb meatballs and egg). it was ok but not asgoodas compared to the sandwiches they had on their sunday brunch menu! please bring back the sunday brunch menu!

reallygoodfood! endless hot-outta-the-oven bread. fresh fruit. colourful macaroons. nice chill vibe. the only thing missing is the service. can i just say how over this "hipster" service trend i am. it's a gorgeous saturday morning, i'm having a birthday brunch with friends from out of town. totally excited to show off my city and all it has to offer. the first thing they experience is bad service. it was pretty evident that no one behind the counter had been employed here for longer than five minutes. it was 10:45 and my friend ordered a side of fries. they were inside waiting for their meals and some of us were outside on the lovely patio holding a table! then this girl came out and proceeded to lecture us about ordering fries before 11 a.m. her exact words were, " well we'll do it this time but next time know that it can never happen." rules are rules. after asking her why they processed the order, her response was "my staff wasn't aware" that we don't do fries before 11 a.m. so in this scenario, you're lecturing a patron of your establishment for something your staff didn't know? hmm, great way to earn loyalty. we then told her that if she let our friend know it wouldn't be a big deal and he'll change his order. she told us that we were welcome to do that ourselves but she had no time to go looking for someone she doesn't know. it's a shame really...this experience left a sour taste in my mouth and it may be along while before i or any of my friends venture back here despite the great food! but i will go back and hopefully the next time i'll have nothing but amazing things to say. i will say that everyone else we encountered was pretty friendly and providedgoodservice. this is just an example of how one person can change your whole experience about something.

ridiculous. if you enjoy your meat slightly raw, your hot chocolate served out of a container labeled "duck fat" or are looking for a place to sip your latte while breastfeeding your baby, you will love art is in bakery.

this filthy warehouse location has overpriced food which continues to rise with popularity, a chaotic atmosphere with terrible acoustics, cinder block walls and tattered benches, if you like to dine with strangers, you will love it!

the menu is confusing and always
changing. it is broken up in to categories such as "sandwiches" and "not sandwiches", yet sandwiches are in fact, listed in the " not sandwiches" section. alot of thier items are not available. you might order something and sit down, just to have a busy and flustered employee come out and tell you that what you ordered is not actually available and you need to choose something else. (it also takes about 20 minutes for a sandwich). it may also be agoodidea to bring your own cutlery and takeout tupperware, or a water bottle to fill yourself. menu items may double in price or jump from around $7.00 to $12.95 as soon as it starts to become popular...

on the brighter side, the bread is amazing and baked fresh daily, as well as the pastries and they usually have a huge variety. you could easily walk in and order a couple dozen pastries and some other baked goods. everything is reallygoodquality.

if i were you, i'd check it out as they do have a lot to offer, but don't expect a place to relax as people will be bumping into your chair, and you will be asked to leave 15 minutes after you finish your food and you may not receive all of your order. also, you might get a parking ticket. oh, and don't expect great service..or any service really....check it out
