hard to find..worth the effort!. mmmm...went in for a bread...stayed for a snack......walked out with a shopping bag of goodies! i'm sure its a regular pattern. the smells....the colours......a bakery with attitude! pricey and worth it.

go try a cronut (a mix between a donut and a croissant) and the outstanding bread. i'm a huge fan of the roasted garlic and rosemary sourdough bed and love to get it to go. be warned it gets very crowded here for brunch, so while they are fast to serve seats can be hard to find at peak hours.

good food but the place is a zoo. what a stressful way to eat brunch. the food was good but the pleasure was diminished by having to balance my plate on my lap, along with my coffee.
great idea but too much hassle for me.
excellent pastries and the best croissant in ottawa.

art-is-in's pain au chocolat has a much flakery, crisper exterior and you get a richer, moister buttery taste when you hit the inside.

when locals speak of art-is-in and its founders, former pastry chef kevin mathieson and his wife stephanie monnin, bread is usually mentioned. in ottawa, the artisan bread served at most restaurants comes from the kitchens of art-is-in. in fact, one of the foods we miss most when we visit toronto or vancouver for any stretch of time is art-is-in’s freshly baked bread. yes, toronto and vancouver chefs bake great bread, but it’s not the same as kevin’s.

no more eggs benedict, pancakes or french toast. :( it was my sunday bunch place so will have to look elsewhere for a new sunday brunch place.

#1. $10.95 for a sandwich with no sides? not even a carrot stick? meh.
#2.the menu board didn't indicate that my sandwich choice came on olive bread. i hate olives.
#3. when i asked for different bread, i was told that they were sold out. of. bread. at a bakery.
#4. they took the contents if my sandwich and put them on a croissant. #10.95 for a croissant sandwich. man alive.

i like the warehouse feeling of the place, and the staff were so funky and fun, but i am afraid that i won't be rushing back.

faith in humanity restored!!!!

brunch burger. chocolate cronut. coffee. are.. you... kidding me?! ridiculously good and family friendly (read: loud).

all in all a fantastic meal and service was quick. even with the take-out line almost out the door, it moved quickly.

dropped by for breakfast... located in a nice nook.

a little expensive for eggs & bacon (maple glazed), salad, with added cost for sourdough bread - $12.

tried their chocolate croissant - quite good!
loads of baked goods for sale but none gluten free.

will be back!

art is in is a trendy, modern twist on a bakery with a front cafe. the food is fresh, and i mean fresh! all baked goods are baked throughout the day, so you are guaranteed a delicious pastry, or fresh bread with every sandwich. and the coffee bar is delish!

bon appetite!

this is the brunch of all brunches. i don’t think anywhere can compare to how insanely good this place is. between the pastries and the incredible menu, it can’t be beat. it’s totally worth the line - i promise!!!

i had the best maple bacon and scrambled eggs i've ever eaten here. simple order but it was really good. my partner's duck poutine was also pretty good.

their pastries are massively overrated however and i wouldn't bother buying any again. we got a variety of them to take home and nothing was memorable. it didn't feel worth the calories to finish eating the cronuts. suzy q still rules the ring-ed pastry scene in my books.

coffee was super meh and not worth the price. nice presentation though.

reasons i will not go back despite the decent lunch: location sucks, lineups and crowds suck (so many people it seems a safety hazard), the people that served us seemed like they wanted to kill themselves (so i'll assume they are being worked to death by bad management), and no ventilation. i'm sorry, i don't care how hipster cool your warehouse kitchen is, you have no ventilation in that cement box and it's gross. every surface is sweating.

like a steam room, with food.

i've come here for lunch many times, and their options have never ceased to impress me. my favourite combination is the roast beef 1/2 sandwich with the clam chowder, both of which are flavourful and delicious. the service can sometimes become slow, particularly when it's busy (during lunch hours), but the place still remains relatively clean and it is clear that the staff are working hard. the bustling atmosphere may be a turn off for some, but they make up for it with great food!
