it has been a little age since my days of mixing the dynamite dough at art is in. after my dismissal which is still a mystery to me other then a management staff which obviously could not handle the rate of expansion thebakerywas moving at. i have recently eaten there and bought myself an old favorite of jalapeño cheddar and was unfortunately very disappointed . the chives were chopped lazily and far to large as if to stretch ingredients further as well as the cheese lacking in quantity and most importantly the awesome heat the bread had from the bountiful jalapeños which are now non existent. the dynamite has seen better days as the sandwich purchased by my significant other on te olive bread had in it entirety two little slices of olive compared to being stuffed full

art is in is a trendy, modern twist on abakerywith a front cafe. the food is fresh, and i mean fresh! all baked goods are baked throughout the day, so you are guaranteed a delicious pastry, or fresh bread with every sandwich. and the coffee bar is delish!

bon appetite!

heard so many people raving about art-is-inbakery(@artisinbakery), so we managed to drop by for a afternoon bite but we were a bit late and most of the goodies are already sold out. though their cafe location would be at a more commercial location but it was next to their production facilities warehouse location.

good morning! my feelings are mixed towards this bakery.
i am writing today, because i had a lovely experience this morning. short wait time, and delicious breakfast. the service was quick and friendly. sometimes - service can be slow and not very friendly. the girl that took my order and packed my sweets had on a huge smile and positive energy. thebakerydoesn't offer a lot of gluten free options - however, the items that are gluten free are yummy! i ordered to go the gluten free breakfast, which contains a large arugula salad with a light dressing and sprinkle of sesame seeds, two eggs over easy, cooked to perfection! and three pieces of candied bacon. yum yum!
i don't normally purchase breakfast, i prefer cooking it myself, but sometimes its a nice treat to have it cooked for you. if you are looking to treat yourself, you want to buy your breakfast here.
thank you for the wonderful breakfast and gluten free treats!

ottawa's largest and most famousbakeryis tucked away in an industrial area. credited with bringing spectacular bread to our city, they've since branched out into traditional and contemporary pastries, cakes, and a changing menu of gourmet brunch offerings, poutine, and hamburgers. while some individual items may be better than others, the menu has something for everyone. it remains the best place in ottawa to find a cronut or a massive and decadent potato buttermilk doughnut (sometimes with bacon!).

i don't care who you are speaking to, it must always be polite. i have never been more offended.. i have been going to art is inbakeryfor quite some time now. a new staff member was there to assist me a few weeks ago, and it has taken me this long to figure out how to respond. i will blame it on my age. i am 75. when a young man with a lovely australian accent says to me, "i can't read your mind" and isn't laughing, i take offense. i heard him tell another customer that he is a former lawyer, and now i understand why. perhaps he should be a former employee!

too expensive and very slow servers. a group of 8 go out for breakfast every 6 weeks. i ordered an egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and herbal tea. the bill came to over $10.00. the sandwich arrived cold after 20 minutes. the water for the tea was luke warm. the other 5 people waited for another 15 to 20 minute. still no food. one person went to find out what was going on. she was told the food would arrive shortly. the food finally arrived with no cutlery which was added after another delay. one person inquired about her coffee 3 times before it finally arrived at the table. we meet on tuesday mornings. there were very few people in thebakeryat that time on tuesday morning. someone tell me what is the appeal of being served cold and expensive food under the guise of being hip and healthy.? there are other places way better than this place serving healthy breakfasts. we won't be going back.

our stay in ottawa was short, but wonderful. p insisted that i should visit the art is inbakery(units 112-114, 250 city centre avenue, ottawa, on), so on the morning of the last day, i did! the play on words is already enough to draw me in! they were actually featured on the food network's " you gotta eat here! " hosted by john catucci upon his visit to ottawa, so why not see what it was all about? art is inbakeryis located in a sort of strip mall, minus the mall part. both the retail and warehouse locations are in that strip, so make sure you go to the one with the red, circular sign in front when you visit :p it's a bit of an odd space that resembles a loading dock, but as you step inside, it's hard not to notice the piles of freshly baked loaves of bread. they are so beautiful that you are tempted to take them all, but you probably shouldn't, but maybe you should. it seems that some people have been a bit critical about the place as of late, but i beg to differ. i think that the

best sunday brunch in ottawa. i say brunch, but it's really breakfast because you have to get there early--as soon as they open--to guarantee yourself a good seat and to ensure they don't run out of the favourite dishes.

for me, the best breakfast item is the eggs benny with the fennel sausage. savoury and filling, and always expertly prepared.

artisin is a bit pricey for breakfast, but worth every penny.

-----12 feb, 2012-----

this place is amazing, not only as abakerybut as a bistro. my family went in for a sunday brunch and everybody shared. the eggs benny were perfectly prepared; the homefries, amazing. the pancakes were the best that any of us have tasted in a restaurant. highly recommended.

this afternoon my wife and i decided to go on a bit of an adventure to just to the west side of downtown ottawa to investigate art is inbakery( 250 city centre avenue, ottawa ) which is an ottawa landmark amongst foodies especially for those enjoying thebakerycuisine. adventure? yes, art is inbakery(also known as art is in boulangerie)  opened in 2010 in the current new location in an industrial plaza, bordering the o-train tracks, where they have become well known for their breads and other baked goods. the ottawa magazine covered the opening  and reviewed it .  as well thebakerydoes well on urbanspoon.com rankings (#11 in ottawa) and  thebakeryhas recently made the news with the announcement  it will slow it's wholesale operation to concentrate on the retail side.   yes, to run a retail operation out of a industrial plaza complete with walk up loading dock. sounds weird and it is especially if you don't drive. getting there via public transit is interesting to say the least
