overpriced. i've been there a couple of times but i'm not inspired to go back. not a big selection of pastries and they didn't taste fresh. must have been a day old. the self-serve coffee i had was lacking flavour. with the pastries i got the impression they do something to make them airy and look bigger but this doesn't make them bigger on taste.placewas crowded in the warehouse atmosphere but it wasn't hard to get a seat although we did have to listen to someone else's conversation. noisy - bad acoustics was probably one of the reasons. haven't tried the sandwiches but 8.95 or more in my opinion is overpriced. generally i have the feeling the owner is making a real effort to maximize profit and squeeze from the customer by whatever means in regards to quality, service and overall experience.

the changes they made are not good. the menu is now very over priced and the portions have gotten smaller. it's become the hippestplaceto eat in ottawa so i suppose there's demand, but my feeling is they will lose some core customers.

thisplacehas good food, extremely over priced and the owner is always trying to find ways to make money on the back of people who support him. 10$+ for a cold sanwich isint the best thing ever. and i'm from around that neighborhood and hears thru the branches that the owner is a real jerk to his employees. seen him myself getting mad at some people and he just gives out the feeling of being a cry baby. knowing people who work there i would absolutely avoid working there unless you want to be treated like crap by a bipolar chef.

terrible place. i just recently went there, and it was the first time i went there. i walk in not knowing what to expect, and a lady saw me and said hi but that was about it. so after a while i've looking around , i went to the lady and said well i've never been here before what do you do, so after advising me i had to order the food and pay for it first and then grab a seat, i did as she requested and sat down. i ordered the quiche. it didn't very long.....looked ok. started eating it and it was warm on the top and cold at the bottom. i'm not a fan of cold quiche, so i told a staff member who took it. it was like 12 -15 mins and i'm waiting for my food, so i asked another staff member, and then she went and grabbed it.
i went to eat it and it was cold again. the coffee is good, but i'm not paying higher amounts of money ( as thisplaceis overpriced) just for coffee. if your going to charge people more than your averageplacefor breakfast then your service and food must make up for it. nope, not going here again.

not what it used to be. i loved art is in. it was such an amazingplacea couple of years ago and i used to go every week to buy bread and a sandwich so it really pains me that it has gotten so bad. don't get me wrong the food if still great, love the dill pickle sandwich and the bread but the staff are truly awful. i have never dealt with such rude customer service people. i understand being annoyed because people take too long to order or have complicated orders or are rude to you, but your job is to be nice, to get the product i'm asking for and to do it without attitude.

please! if the owner reads this tune up your staff! they are terrible and from what i've read from other people on here i'm not the only one to notice.

hidden gem!. i don't know what more to say. the sunday breakfasts here are unbelievably good. the level of pride that the owners have in their food is very evident. thisplacehas tons of character, the service is exceptional. the "back warehouse" ambiance adds to the character of this place.

it is definitely a hidden gem!

good food but theplaceis a zoo. what a stressful way to eat brunch. the food was good but the pleasure was diminished by having to balance my plate on my lap, along with my coffee.
great idea but too much hassle for me.
excellent pastries and the best croissant in ottawa.

this is the brunch of all brunches. i don’t think anywhere can compare to how insanely good thisplaceis. between the pastries and the incredible menu, it can’t be beat. it’s totally worth the line - i promise!!!

i've come here for lunch many times, and their options have never ceased to impress me. my favourite combination is the roast beef 1/2 sandwich with the clam chowder, both of which are flavourful and delicious. the service can sometimes become slow, particularly when it's busy (during lunch hours), but theplacestill remains relatively clean and it is clear that the staff are working hard. the bustling atmosphere may be a turn off for some, but they make up for it with great food!

i'm giving a 2.0 for a few reasons:

positive:
the food was delicious. had the avocado toast with the super salad.

negative:
we ordered two orders of toast, and the avocado toast with the super salad... and that was over $26?!?! how is one entree and 4 pieces of toast $26?! i was shocked when we were paying. i stopped the girl and told her she must of made a mistake because it says the avocado toast is $14.95 (which is already really expensive for breakfast). yeah, it is. but the super salad is an extra $4. so $18.95. she didn't mention the extra $4 jump in price when you order that specific salad. i asked what the options were for my side salad that came with the toast and she just left that $4 extra part out. i could have literally bought all of the ingredients to make avocado toast and "super salad" for my whole family for $18.95! the girl was a little rude after i was unhappy about spending that much on one breakfast entree.

little things:
the location is extremely loud. was there not during regular breakfast or lunch times on a tuesday.
you have to pay for parking in the lot.
lots of kids running around.
tables are super close together. i had a woman getting pissed off at me because i was sitting behind her... even though i was sitting there long before she got to the restaurant.
toast comes buttered, rather than butter on the side if you want it/butter to your liking.

tried thisplacebecause i live a stones throw away but with how expensive everything is (and trust me when i say i eat out a lot so i know when i'm getting ripped off) i probably won't come back 🤷‍♀️

let me start with: my friend and i then shared a chocolate cronut and it was d e l i c i o u s! i definitely recommend trying it. it might be too big for one person alone but yummy nevertheless.

fast paced, buzzing atmosphere. don't be put off if the line is long or theplacelooks busy, line moves fast and food is delivered pretty quick as well.

i have been here a few times because of its interesting vibe and unique variety of pastries and food.

this time i had the tuna melt and a cream soda. tuna melt was delicious, a friend and i shared a sandwich potion size is great for one hungry person (we weren't that hungry). the cream soda was typical, not that exciting.

why 3.5 only? i guess because theplaceis so busy the cleanliness isn't superb, table was dirty and there was fruit flies at the cafe bar.

easily one of the best lunch spots in ottawa. the food is innovative yet homey and comforting in the same delicious bite. come early if you need seating as thisplacegets packed.
