overpriced. i've been there a couple of times but i'm not inspired to go back. not a big selection of pastries and they didn't taste fresh. must have been a day old. the self-serve coffee i had was lacking flavour. with the pastries i got the impression they do something to make them airy and look bigger but this doesn't make them bigger on taste. place was crowded in the warehouse atmosphere but it wasn't hard to get a seat although we did have to listen to someone else's conversation. noisy - bad acoustics was probably one of the reasons. haven't tried the sandwiches but 8.95 or more in my opinion is overpriced. generally i have the feeling the owner is making a real effort to maximize profit and squeeze from the customer by whatever means in regards to quality, service and overall experience.

the changes they made are not good. the menu is now very over priced and the portions have gotten smaller. it's become the hippest place to eat in ottawa so i suppose there's demand, but my feeling is they will lose some core customers.

this place has good food, extremely over priced and the owner is always trying to find ways to make money on the back of people who support him. 10$+ for a cold sanwich isint the best thing ever. and i'm from around that neighborhood and hears thru the branches that the owner is a real jerk to his employees. seen him myself getting mad at some people and he just gives out the feeling of being a cry baby. knowing people who work there i would absolutely avoid working there unless you want to be treated like crap by a bipolar chef.

terrible place. i just recently went there, and it was the first time i went there. i walk in not knowing what to expect, and a lady saw me and said hi but that was about it. so after a while i've looking around , i went to the lady and said well i've never been here before what do you do, so after advising me i had to order the food and pay for it first and then grab a seat, i did as she requested and sat down. i ordered the quiche. it didn't very long.....looked ok. started eating it and it was warm on the top and cold at the bottom. i'm not a fan of cold quiche, so i told a staff member who took it. it was like 12 -15 mins and i'm waiting for my food, so i asked another staff member, and then she went and grabbed it.
i went to eat it and it was cold again. the coffee is good, but i'm not paying higher amounts of money ( as this place is overpriced) just for coffee. if your going to charge people more than your average place for breakfast then your service and food must make up for it. nope, not going here again.

art is in has a display counter of their speciality desserts which features everything from macaroons to tarts to cheesecakes. the main menu, which is essentially a giant chalkboard, is also displayed at the main counter along with a smaller "specials" board. in addition to their sandwiches, soups, and sides, you can also order an assortment of coffees and teas. we decided to order various types of sandwiches (which is their main item of food), coffee/tea, and of course, their numerous desserts.

dynamite bread. on my last visit, but must be eaten fresh, if you're planning a picnic, get some sausage from adams butcher on michael st, or william j walter in hull with a new world wine or craft beer. bread is pricier than normal, but it's from a "in the mode" establishment.

art is out bakery. confusion.... upon entry..... bread line? food line? who's next? .....grrrrrrrr - patience needed
poor staff service.... whether they're all underpaid or totally unappreciative because they're not receiving tips...
the staff is useless!!! .... not overly friendly either!
over priced..... ham & cheese (8.95 + tax) - 1 piece of cheese / 1 folded flimsy piece of ham....on nice bread
dirienzo's & bottega rule..... art is in, pathetic
did i mention overpriced?
2 sandwiches without sides... one croque madame with a small salad.... a juice...a cappuccino = over $50 !!!!
the hype is not worth it!

it has been a little age since my days of mixing the dynamite dough at art is in. after my dismissal which is still a mystery to me other then a management staff which obviously could not handle the rate of expansion the bakery was moving at. i have recently eaten there and bought myself an old favorite of jalapeño cheddar and was unfortunately very disappointed . the chives were chopped lazily and far to large as if to stretch ingredients further as well as the cheese lacking in quantity and most importantly the awesome heat the bread had from the bountiful jalapeños which are now non existent. the dynamite has seen better days as the sandwich purchased by my significant other on te olive bread had in it entirety two little slices of olive compared to being stuffed full

great food, great atmosphere. it seems like a lot of reviewers are professional complainers who want great food for mcdonald's prices!. i find the atmosphere at art is in to be great, and the employees are always friendly. the food isn't the cheapest in the city, but i've always found the quality to be excellent. i'm very willing to pay more for good quality! i especially like the crazy special kronuts they've been making on thursdays.

not what it used to be. i loved art is in. it was such an amazing place a couple of years ago and i used to go every week to buy bread and a sandwich so it really pains me that it has gotten so bad. don't get me wrong the food if still great, love the dill pickle sandwich and the bread but the staff are truly awful. i have never dealt with such rude customer service people. i understand being annoyed because people take too long to order or have complicated orders or are rude to you, but your job is to be nice, to get the product i'm asking for and to do it without attitude.

please! if the owner reads this tune up your staff! they are terrible and from what i've read from other people on here i'm not the only one to notice.

hidden gem!. i don't know what more to say. the sunday breakfasts here are unbelievably good. the level of pride that the owners have in their food is very evident. this place has tons of character, the service is exceptional. the "back warehouse" ambiance adds to the character of this place.

it is definitely a hidden gem!
