having heard of this place, we decided it would be a great chance to visit the restaurant and try out the unique offerings. went through the brasserie section where we were greeted nicely, we arrived at spago, which is located on the 7th floor of at.regis hotel.
the greeting was okay and we were shown to a table for two. after having looked at the menu, we decided to go for a sushi set, two pasta dishes and crispy potatoes. we weren't too hungry yet we wanted to try the dishes. the food arrived and we tasted all. in my opinion, the food was great but not italian great. the sushi was much better and fresher than something you would have in most sushi restaurants.
however, i'd like to point out the rude behaviour of the waitress. from the start, she assumed that we were not the kind of crowd they get there (maybe due to overcrowding tourists). she said, "the dishes you have ordered are small." not knowing how hungry we were she started treating us in a way that we should eat and go. this was so rude. she told us that one of the dishes we ordered was gluten-free and then even when the chef waiter told us that they would change the dish, she still brought it and said if we want we can eat it. that moment everything changed for us. she was picking up plates right from under our noses. she was smiling and all, yet we knew she ready didn't. at the end she calculated everything and passed the bill. i thought they had replaced the first dish but no it was in the bill.
this was the kind of behaviour that i can't tolerate. just because we didn't order main courses, she assumed that we didn't have money, we were not suitable for that place and we should go as quick as possible.
we were deeply disturbed by her attitude and didn't enjoy anything that we had there even if the food was great.
service is service! you gotta treat your guests as guests and not like unwanted guests, who are to be kicked out of the house as soon as possible.
