i am nearing 70 years of age. i went to vidyarthi bhavan with my son since i was visiting basavanagudi area. while making payment i requested the person at the counter ( looked like an owner) not to give rs. 10/- coin since it becomes difficult to circulate in the market due to many refuse to accept it. he was angry 😡 and told me to take it and go away. i then offered him another rs. 10/- note and requested him to give me rs 20/- note. he was not only reluctant but also very arrogant and nasty. i think success and money have spoiled his brain 🧠 which is filled with ego. i hope god in the form of some customer will teach him lesson in his life to respect customers at least of my age.
at my age of 70 years i had to face very tough time in this hotel. very irritating owner cum cashier -
regarding food - due to arrogance the owner has taken for granted the customers- very ordinary food - nothing great to mention -

this was my first time visit to this legendary place. it was really worth going here. one of the best dosa you can have in bangalore ( they add soo much ghee) , filter coffee was also one of the best in bangalore. this place is really worth visit. service is slow here. tea was not good , i wouldn't recommend it. sagu dosa was best, should definitely try it.

nope. not a good place. definitely not worth the long wait. definitely not worth the risk of contracting covid in this crowded place. the dosa was so oily, felt like we ordered oil and there was some dosa in it. the idli was sub-standard. still can't understand all the hype. do yourself a favour, go to any other local dosa shop, you will get better dosa than this lost cause. moreover, the staff is so arrogant and racist. they will say learn kannada if you want to know the status of your turn. they will talk rudely when you want to order dosa again. so a big no from my side to this place. 👎

the legendary vidyarthi bhavan lives up to its reputation. been a fan of its masala dosa for nearly 30 years. dosa which is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside is a must try if you are around south bangalore. rava vada which is available in the evenings is also a must have. the place is always crowded with 10+ mins of waiting time during mornings and evenings.

finally visited one of the legendary places in bangalore after spending 7 years here.

idli was nice. the oil we ordered was bad. there was some dosa in the oil. 😉

it might be a legendary place but not sure if the food was always like this or it has just turned bad.

also, i don't understand why during they make people sit at the sharing tables when we are in the middle of a pandemic. definitely no social distancing is followed.

i am not sure if i am going to visit the place again.

masala dosa from the legendary @vidyarthibhavan is one of best dosas u can have in bangalore.

crisp outside with a soft inside, the batter is perfectly made with the best of ingredients to taste phenomenal when the dosa in poured on the hot tawa. not to forget their unique style of serving the dosa to form a tower of plates.

the chutney would defenitely the highlight of your meal.

must try : vada, kesari bath, masala dosa

cost for 2 : 150

it's a highly overrated place. dosa are good but you get better once at ctr. even the palya and chutney are sub standard. totally not worth the wait

after much waiting to get a seat and then some more to get our order, i was finally able to taste the famous masala dosa. obviously, it tasted good but for me it felt like a thicker version of the masala dosa from ctr. not that it’s bad but there is a striking similarity in the taste except for the thickness of the dosa. nevertheless, we enjoyed the dosa and washed it down with a delicious hot filter coffee.

this is vintage legendary place in bangalore for crispy buttery masala dosa with yummy chutney, sagu dosa is one of the special item and my all time favourite rava vada served usually only in the evening. the taste over the years is almost same and the staff need special mention who cater to the ever crowded place but managing still has scope for improvement.

when the online review and whatsapp videos gets into the head of the management/owners..

had been thr for a takeaway last evening.. dosa was not good as expected & chutney had no salt at all… it was unfinished n not even checked n was delivered to customers…. management/owner should spend more time in the kitchen rather than stand at the entrance n speak to the customers rudely.. remember you don’t give food for free…..

i have been visiting this place since childhood and it is more than 40 years now, and i was introduced to this place by my father who used to come to vidyarthi as a child in 1930-40. the nostalgia part of it notwithstanding, they prepare one of the best masala dosa, of course oily, buttery..but who cares...the waiters carrying 25-30 plates on each trip to the kitchen and the spicy chutney that goes with masala dosa is just an amazing gastronomic experience. i am not a big fan of their coffee though, a bit too much chicory.
