not worth the wait.

it's got a standard taste of karnataka. but the wait is too long. kudos to staff for managing it, hats off to the effort.

khara bhat was good and so was kesari bath. sambar was good. i did not like thechutneymuch.

in summary there was nothing that would make me stand in that queue again.

tried the masala dosa, idli & filter coffee here and none of them were up to the mark nor worth the hype.

the dosa was oily and the aloo inside was tasteless.chutneywas bland and the filter coffee was absolutely average. the sambhar was the only saving grace, although a bit on the sweeter side.

very tasty and crunchy masala dosa available at a reasonable rate. the coconutchutneyserved with it was one of its kind and added to the flavour. a must visit place.
note: this place remains crowded with people and you might have to wait for 30 mins for your turn to come. so plan your visit accordingly!

hugely crowded place, but worth waiting for when you are gonna get to taste authentic south indian food at affordable prices. the taste is too good. i should say service is equally good, considering the crowd. have tummy full of food without burning a hole in the pocket. idly vada dipped inchutneyis just heavenly feeling. their dosas are yumm. must try place.
only suggestion is they could improve on their cleanliness.

it has lot of history... true... but once you go there... you will understand what makes it stand apart. prompt service, hygienic making... corteuos staff...and finger licking food. none can beat their dosa...chutneyis also amazing go and soak into the purity of an authentic south indian snack based food.

one of the oldest places in bangalore, i was excited to visit this place. and went all the way from north of bangalore to south bangalore on a sunday early morning to have some good breakfast.

first of all know that i have never been here before so i can't compare the quality before and the one now. sure would help to make it a point to be there by 7:30 for lesser wait time and give your name at the counter so they can call you once the table is ready. you would have to share it with fellow banagloreans.

we tried everything that was on the menu it won't go beyond 150 rupees per person (max). quantity is perfect for a small human like me. four stars because thechutneylacked salt, masala dosa was thicker than expected and lacked masala and the main dishes were swimming in the side dishes. but that was just a personal preference.

my experience was great! i personally loved the khara baath but masala dosa was ordinary. kesari baath and filter coffee is a must try and a definite show stopper. some people complained about the bitter coffee, but this coffee is as authentic as it gets.

75 years and counting, this place did not disappoint! would go back when i go for another long drive :p

this place is always jam packed, there no day when you literally don’t have to wait in line to get a table. after waiting we finally got a table, mind it you might have to share your table with others😅
we tried their masala dosa, idli dip, vada and kesari bath, which was outstanding and mouthwatering. sambar andchutneywas a true companion really done to perfection. this place is one of the bangalore finest.

the crowd and attitude of staff doesn't justify going there. taste of good isn't really great either. it is mostly the fame of olden days and hype that keeps this place cooking.

taste: average. dosa was crispy because they fried in lots of butter. however, taste of any of the dishes weren't great be it dosa, puri, vada, or kesari bath. they pourchutneyon dosa plate itself making the dosa soggy.
ambience: bad, too much crowd.
service: they have weird rules and they want people to sit and eat according to their rules.
price: average, rs 50 for masala dosa.

it was a legendary place but it may loose it's popularity due to negligent service, rude behavior of waiters andchutneypored on the dosa. legend should not die, it's hiers must carry it's legacy with pride by serving the customers the best.

we went here because this place is soo famous. and unfortunately, the fame has gone in their heads!

extremely rude staff…..they shouted at my mom who is 65yrs old, when she went to get some sugar for her coffee.

then comes the food….nothing extra ordinary honestly, i like dvg benne dosa much more. thechutneyat this place isn’t made of pure coconut and is quite runny. the dosa also was wayy too oily!

the only thing i liked in the dosa was how crispy yet soft it was…but that type of dosa you can get at multiple places in bangalore, so no brownie points for that, sorry…

we also tried their khara bath - now this was something amazing. i am a maharashtrian and i was expecting something like upma, but it blew me off! it was nice and spicy, i loved it!

overall i think they still have customers only because of the hype. those who stay in bangalore would definitely know about better places than this.

coming to bangalore and not having dosas here would be a sin. i was told that they use ghee/butter in their dosas so i wasn't sure if i should go but i anyways tried to use my luck. the staff told me they use oil and i had the biggest smile on my face. i asked for a masala dosa. the dosa was thick, yet crisp and very wholesome. thechutneywas out of the world too. typing this review from my home in bombay, i cant help but salivate at the thought of having this amazing dosa again soon. please visit for the yummiest dosas!

i had heard a lot about this place and it did live up to its hype. i reached at around 815 am. it was packed and had to wait for 15 mins for my turn to come.
i tried their idli vada . vada was hot and crisp and idli was soft as butter and equally hot . sambar was very tasty.
next came the masala dosa where the server carries 10-15 place in one hand .. this is signature vidyarthi bhavan style. the masala dosa was super crisp from the outside and soft from inside. thechutneywas super tasty.
service was quick.
