coming to bangalore and not having dosas here would be a sin. i was told that they use ghee/butter in their dosas so i wasn't sure if i should go but i anyways tried to use my luck. the staff told me they use oil and i had the biggest smile on my face. i asked for a masala dosa. the dosa was thick, yet crisp and very wholesome. the chutney was out of the world too. typing this review from my home in bombay, i cant help but salivate at the thought of having this amazing dosa again soon. please visit for the yummiest dosas!

highly overrated. after waiting for 1.5hrs, finally got in just to get oil soaked dosa and undercooked tea. never visiting again

undoubtedly, one of the best places for dosa ever. this most famous oldie in the town is known for attracting crowd all days in the week by giving the best tasty signature dosas in namma bengaluru. maybe you'll have to spend about an hour or so waiting in the queue for your number, finding a seat for yourself and finally catch-hold of someone to place your order. but doing all of this is really worth as soon as you bite the very first piece of dosa from your plate!! do try idli, khara baath, kesari baath, and ending with a strong filter coffee will make it a perfect one!

the place is a landmark by itself.

the crowd we saw on weekend was unbelievable and we had to wait for 1.5hrs for getting a seat.

the dosae here are lit but i am seeing the taste to be not as good as it used to be. the vada we ordered was not crispy, not hot which is was surprising. the filter kaapi was horrible.

seems like it is losing its charm.

heard a lot of good and bad reviews of this place so i finally visited to judge it myself. the place is almost always packed and this time we got a table straight away. since it was evening they didnt have any medu vadas. we tried the masala dosa which was quite crispy on the outside and soft from within. we also had the chow chow bath and the rava vada which was decent. they dont have tea here but only coffee which is okay. i mean the food here is decent i just dont get why its so crowded though.

i had heard a lot about this place and it did live up to its hype. i reached at around 815 am. it was packed and had to wait for 15 mins for my turn to come.
i tried their idli vada . vada was hot and crisp and idli was soft as butter and equally hot . sambar was very tasty.
next came the masala dosa where the server carries 10-15 place in one hand .. this is signature vidyarthi bhavan style. the masala dosa was super crisp from the outside and soft from inside. the chutney was super tasty.
service was quick.

this place is a gem. established in 1943, it has its own charm. the staff is courteous and extremely respectful. the service is fast, food is fresh and delicious.
the place opens at 6 in the morning and by 6:15 you will see a long queue. yes, that's how famous it is.
but it is absolutely worth the wait.

vidyarthi bhavan is a legendary place located in gandhi bazaar. this place doesnt need any introduction. we had to wait for around 20mins at 6.45am on a saturday.

the waiter are all running here and there and doesnt have time to listen. we tried their idly sambar which was so so in taste. the vada sambar was better, the vada was very crisp. next we had the kesari bath which was also not that good unlike other places.

lastly we tried their famous masala dose which is crisp from outside and soft from inside at the same time. the chutney served with it is also decent. nothing great about the dosa to be honest.

overall, a overhyped place that doesnt stand any base. go here once and forget about it.

everytime i go here i’m hit with nostalgia and the taste of those amazing dosas!!

the day started with a long wait outside the "legendary" food joint. the front door man is very good at crowd control and commands decorum with organised turn system, a firm tone and quick wit.

once we got in we ordered the famous ghee masala dosa and by the time that arrived we had...
crispy uddina vade soaked in hot sambar. the sambar was amazing - a little sweet with a hit of spicy aftertaste
kesaribath - the pineapple flavoured delight had the perfect amount of sweet for you to enjoy and keep wanting more.
by this time the dosa arrived (with a surprise!) it was very thick for any masala dosa standards. the outside was extremely crispy and cooked all the way through without a hint of char/burn. one dosa and you're full (but you'll want one more! and we did!) the potato filling and chutney just elevates the dosa to another level the makes the wait to get in totally worth it!
the deep fried poori surprisingly had very little oil on the plate and felt very light!
washing down that amazing breakfast with hot filter kaapi or tea will only lead to a plan to come back.

p.s. - veterans and pregnant women (and their families) get priority seating!

this funny place is closed for people who want lunch, and only opens after lunch time. if this is the way they treat customers, i'm glad we came away hungry.

overhyped food.. not worth of waiting for long time for this food.. taste in mtr and udupi resturants are more better than this.. ..

no review required. this is heaven for masale dose lovers. also rave vade and coffee are just soooo delicious.

too much of waiting crowded on most days.rest all is fine no sambar is served.
