it may be a legendary hotel and have a good regular visitors from years now. me had a good hopes on this restaurant & heard a lot. it was in my bucket list from quiet a long time now.
recently visited here for breakfast on early weekend morning with family. we have to give our name and wait for some time till our turn comes. it was crowded and for us it was almost 30 mins and my name called.
we are made a share the seats with others. it was not a big place bit packed and every one are strangling for comfortable seating. order takers have a different kind of attitude. we ordered masala dosa which is famous over here, sagu dosa and puri sagu.
this is my prospective of review on dosa which i tasted, it's a total waste. dosa was unevenly cooked and of different colour, aloo palya was of no taste, even chutney was not good. puri sagu was good and better than dosa.

ambiance- 1/5
service- 2/5
waiting time- 1/5
hygienic food- 1/5
price- 2/5 for two it will cost ~200/-
overall - 1/5

enjoy your food and make sure food is not wasted.

finally got to taste this legendary dosa and it lived up to its expectations, well maybe even exceeded it. the vada was decent. i found the filter coffee extremely watery and diluted. the bill for these 3 came up to only ₹88.

> the place is very crowded.
hence, the pro tip: ask a dunzo guy to get your name written in the waiting list and then reach the place after 45 minutes. because that is the minimum waiting time in the weekends.

> the staff is undoubtedly rude so better not mess with them

> amazing food masala dosa; upma; sambhar vada.

> the filter coffee was not amazing.

unprofessional !
the way they engaged with customers is completely rude and horrible !
waiting time was expected, i have asked to add my name in waiting list, and got the response with harsh tone "wait for 30-40 min" , again on following up after 50 min same response with more rude tone ; it sucks and feels like "beggar waiting for their turn".

if you like the food go for online order !!!

or goto other restaurant like taaza thinde

pathetic place in terms of service. food would be good but it is useless of you have such unprofessional service.
owner thinks we are beggars and not proud customers. they keep waiting you for hours saying 20 minutes. if you try to have a conversation they will push you as if you are there to steal from them.

i will suggest to try taaza thindi instead just 4 km from there. awesome south indian along with above par service.

another review written from the gate.

i understand this place is legendary, a crowd puller to the max. but that doesn’t excuse the old man sitting at the entrance, the ‘one who decides’, to be downright rude. i went up on a saturday morning, politely greeted him and asked if a place for one was available. in a very rude huff, he dismissed me by saying this: “no place, you forget your chances.”

i would have normally walked away understanding, but the last part of what bad grandpa said irked me. his cocky behavior might make him look like a hero to unsuspecting crowds thronging to his eatery (and his staff), but how different on all levels are his dosas from those in famous malleshwaram/seshadripuram eateries? i love the dosas in ctr and janatha hotel, not to mention umesh dosa, hvr etc. having not eaten in this indignant grandpa’s place, i can’t say much but assume.

legendary, maybe. but don’t go by hyped and promoted reviews. the food might be only as good as the service. and when the man at the door asks you to “forget about it”, you can imagine how little he values customers who have made his place what it is today.

try ctr & janatha instead. it’s so nice when the food is excellent and the staff is polite.

no one can deny that this place is the heart of south bangalore. people who are visiting bangalore and not eating here is an incomplete experience of the city. although there are wait times and queues , the ultimate food is worth it all

heard a lot about this place how it serves really good dosas, stood in a queue, got inside ordered a masala dosa. it took around 10 mins to arrive, it wasn't that great. way below expectations. the only good thing about the dosa was butter quantity. price is on the higher side, there is nothing called as customer service, they don really care if u eat or not they have tonnes of blind followers.

try their yummiest breakfast in town !all their dishes are signature dishes but masala dosa is love 💕

it might be good in food but i had really bad experience with the person looking after the que. he made me wait for 45 mins and sent people came after me just because i wasn't speaking in kannada. i don't think i'll be going there ever again.

one of the oldest and one of the best restaurant in banglore. heaven for dosa lovers. had masala dosa there which was my crispiest dosa till now!! had idli which could be improved. also had uddin vada there which was my best vada here. in last i ordered filter kaapi(coffee) which was also good. you should go early in morning if you want place to seat. this is very crowded place.

one of the oldest restaurants in bangalore and definitely is the heaven for the masala dosa. the chutney is so delicious that you can stop licking your finger.
i have been to this place so many time and have cherished the dosa. first time decided to have idly, vada for starter and i should say it tastes great. the sambar is yumm. masala dosa of course is always a delicacy.

great place for good south indian food. no compromise on quality and taste! but the dosa didn't quite live up to the much hyped name! still would recommend everyone to try this place at least once.. the idli and vadai was just lit. the sambhar and chutney were great too. they have less items aroumd 7 in their menu but all the items is pocket friedly. must visit place for breakfast. always be prepared to wait outside specially in weekends.
