had been to this place with my colleagues for early morning breakfast on a working wednesday.. by thetimewe reached, there was waiting of approx 40+ people.. our number came in 15-20 mins..
service was super quick and waiters without writing delivered the correct order..
ambience is like small udupi restaurant which we can serve 35-40 people..
must try items kesari bath, masala dosa and kaafi (coffee)
food is authentic and delicious.. you will forget the wait time..
price very reasonable..
parking at your own riak
highly recommend this place to enjoy with your family and friends..

one of the oldest places in bangalore, i was excited to visit this place. and went all the way from north of bangalore to south bangalore on a sunday early morning to have some good breakfast.

first of all know that i have never been here before so i can't compare the quality before and the one now. sure would help to make it a point to be there by 7:30 for lesser waittimeand give your name at the counter so they can call you once the table is ready. you would have to share it with fellow banagloreans.

we tried everything that was on the menu it won't go beyond 150 rupees per person (max). quantity is perfect for a small human like me. four stars because the chutney lacked salt, masala dosa was thicker than expected and lacked masala and the main dishes were swimming in the side dishes. but that was just a personal preference.

my experience was great! i personally loved the khara baath but masala dosa was ordinary. kesari baath and filter coffee is a must try and a definite show stopper. some people complained about the bitter coffee, but this coffee is as authentic as it gets.

75 years and counting, this place did not disappoint! would go back when i go for another long drive :p

the authentic taste of south indian food which everyone should atleast give a try. a worth visiting place and totally worth the waiting time. this place is crowded most of thetimeand you will have to share table with others too. i guess our waitingtimewas approx 40mins, but that was worth. the flavour and taste completed mesmerized our taste buds.🥰

heard a lot of good and bad reviews of this place so i finally visited to judge it myself. the place is almost always packed and thistimewe got a table straight away. since it was evening they didnt have any medu vadas. we tried the masala dosa which was quite crispy on the outside and soft from within. we also had the chow chow bath and the rava vada which was decent. they dont have tea here but only coffee which is okay. i mean the food here is decent i just dont get why its so crowded though.

vidyarthi bhavan is a legendary place located in gandhi bazaar. this place doesnt need any introduction. we had to wait for around 20mins at 6.45am on a saturday.

the waiter are all running here and there and doesnt havetimeto listen. we tried their idly sambar which was so so in taste. the vada sambar was better, the vada was very crisp. next we had the kesari bath which was also not that good unlike other places.

lastly we tried their famous masala dose which is crisp from outside and soft from inside at the same time. the chutney served with it is also decent. nothing great about the dosa to be honest.

overall, a overhyped place that doesnt stand any base. go here once and forget about it.

the day started with a long wait outside the "legendary" food joint. the front door man is very good at crowd control and commands decorum with organised turn system, a firm tone and quick wit.

once we got in we ordered the famous ghee masala dosa and by thetimethat arrived we had...
crispy uddina vade soaked in hot sambar. the sambar was amazing - a little sweet with a hit of spicy aftertaste
kesaribath - the pineapple flavoured delight had the perfect amount of sweet for you to enjoy and keep wanting more.
by thistimethe dosa arrived (with a surprise!) it was very thick for any masala dosa standards. the outside was extremely crispy and cooked all the way through without a hint of char/burn. one dosa and you're full (but you'll want one more! and we did!) the potato filling and chutney just elevates the dosa to another level the makes the wait to get in totally worth it!
the deep fried poori surprisingly had very little oil on the plate and felt very light!
washing down that amazing breakfast with hot filter kaapi or tea will only lead to a plan to come back.

p.s. - veterans and pregnant women (and their families) get priority seating!

i am nearing 70 years of age. i went to vidyarthi bhavan with my son since i was visiting basavanagudi area. while making payment i requested the person at the counter ( looked like an owner) not to give rs. 10/- coin since it becomes difficult to circulate in the market due to many refuse to accept it. he was angry 😡 and told me to take it and go away. i then offered him another rs. 10/- note and requested him to give me rs 20/- note. he was not only reluctant but also very arrogant and nasty. i think success and money have spoiled his brain 🧠 which is filled with ego. i hope god in the form of some customer will teach him lesson in his life to respect customers at least of my age.
at my age of 70 years i had to face very toughtimein this hotel. very irritating owner cum cashier -
regarding food - due to arrogance the owner has taken for granted the customers- very ordinary food - nothing great to mention -

this was my firsttimevisit to this legendary place. it was really worth going here. one of the best dosa you can have in bangalore ( they add soo much ghee) , filter coffee was also one of the best in bangalore. this place is really worth visit. service is slow here. tea was not good , i wouldn't recommend it. sagu dosa was best, should definitely try it.

the legendary vidyarthi bhavan lives up to its reputation. been a fan of its masala dosa for nearly 30 years. dosa which is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside is a must try if you are around south bangalore. rava vada which is available in the evenings is also a must have. the place is always crowded with 10+ mins of waitingtimeduring mornings and evenings.

this is vintage legendary place in bangalore for crispy buttery masala dosa with yummy chutney, sagu dosa is one of the special item and my alltimefavourite rava vada served usually only in the evening. the taste over the years is almost same and the staff need special mention who cater to the ever crowded place but managing still has scope for improvement.
