this place is quite famous for their breakfast..

it's too crowded place , you have to give name and wait for your turn..

servers the best dosa , all kind of south indian breakfast are available.. evening snacks like vada , bonda.
refreshments like coffee and tea also available..

overall my meal experience was delightful and i enjoyed it .

this place used to be the known for it most yummiest dosas that melt in mouth but unfortunately the taste has gone down. the dosa is fat and aloo inside also does not taste good. huge let down!

first visit to vidyarthi bhawan, and tried their much talked “masala dosas”. it definitely tasted better than your regular udupi joints, but the best dosas in bangalore, that is debatable. to each of their own i guess. dosas were crispy and fluffy, just like you witness in all those food vlogs, but for me the taste was not exceptional. i liked mtr and ctr better. plus, utensils were not that clean.

if you have stayed in bangalore, you definitely would have heard about this place at least once. once famous for its crispy and tasty masala dosa. when i visited it, i felt i have eaten better masala dosas. their rava vada though was really good.

'vidyarthi bhavan - this place requires no introduction!

since 1943 it has won hearts of everyone and is maintaing the same quality and consistency.

more than everything, two things i really love the most here.
firstly , the nostalgic feel and childhood memories flashes up as and when you enter and secondly the staff who welcomes you and treats you so well with a big smile on their face.

dose asusal crispy on center and soft texture on corner with aloo palya and spicy kai chutney was a killer

kesari bath was ultimate show stealer for its abundance of ghee and pineapple in it

rava vada turned out to be crunchy and was fried well.
uppittu was well balanced with ample vegetables and spice levels were at par.
coffee anthu next level with strong decoction.

if it is one sentence description, i would say it as a complete heaven

i don't understand the hype about this place. yes, the dosas do taste good but you can find similar tastes in the ones served at many other kannadiga style places like mtr where it's much more cleaner and safe. this place is behaving like it never saw a pandemic apart from the temperature check at the entrance.

let alone social distancing, they are even making strangers sit at the same table (please check the images of the place, the tables are pretty small in size) just to accomodate more people.

yes, it still gets crowded and that is what motivates them to forget all safety measures but it is definitely not worth risking your life.

avoid atleast till the pandemic subsides. there is nothing irreplaceable about their food.

i am not entirely sure why i didn't visit the place sooner. maybe the distance and the huge crowds with long waiting time were a deterrent.
anyways , i visited the place once the lockdown got over. they did the temperature check and hand sanitization. the staff was wearing masks and gloves. there was decent crowd for a normal outlet, but then this is not any normal place.  we go for masala dosa, idli vada , kesari bhath and filter coffee.
dosa is fantastic, although it is dripped in oil. but the taste is next level and there is a nice sponginess. the alu masala inside is also tasty.  idli vada comes dipped in sambhar and gets over in a jiffy. kesari bhath is mildly sweet with some raisins in it
the coffee is strong and perfect to end the meal. my conclusion is nothing different and i dont have anything negative to say here. its an iconic place. must visit. folks who haven't gone yet can go now taking advantage of the lesser crowd and enjoy themselves.

legendary place and the dosas are always excellent, and they also seem to retain old school prices.

the only issue is that like all other south-indian places today, they have substituted coconut in the chutney with cheaper gram flour. would have been better if they gave limited chutney with the original and healthier coconut option instead.

but looks like most people ask for too much chutney and can't tell the difference between the two. that's what happens when no one cooks anymore ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i had heard a lot about this place. had visited today. in this pandemic situation, the service was good, all the safety arrangements were proper. they even have an app to order online. they had takeaway and online delivery option only. i had ordered idli, masala dosa, vada, kesari bath, khara bath and coffee . taste was not upto the mark as much as i had heard about this place. chutney and sambhar had too much chilli.

& finally the day came🤣

so if you are in bangalore and haven’t visited that place.. people gonna judge you 😁. i am in bangalore for 3 years now and visited it last month only so i can tell 😝

just after the lockdown when vb started dine in.. & we planned for a long trip (25km from my place) and dosa

seeing the crowd i actually forgot pandemic is still onn. but nevertheless i was also one of them 😉

we got seat within 15 mins ( which was good because i have heard of hour long story too). ordered the famous dosa and idli and kesari bath and coffee. they were having huge take away orders too because of which it took 15mins to come. so i guess the viral pic of guy serving with 20 dosa plates is seen by everyone but i was waiting for my shot 🤪. it didn’t happened as he was so fast that by the time i took pic he already served 5 tables . dosa was worth the wait.

2 things but - i didn’t like the chutney & second vada which was veryyy oily. i liked vb but my second visit is only gonna happens if i need to just flaunt - tum vb nahi gaye .. let me take you 😛
