the crowd and attitude of staff doesn't justify going there. taste of good isn't really great either. it is mostly the fame of olden days and hype that keeps this place cooking.

taste: average. dosa was crispy because they fried in lots of butter. however, taste of any of the dishes weren't great be it dosa, puri, vada, or kesari bath. they pour chutney on dosa plate itself making the dosa soggy.
ambience: bad, too much crowd.
service: they have weird rules and they want people to sit and eat according to their rules.
price: average, rs 50 for masala dosa.

except for the long waiting which is worth the wait, i rate the food as best authentic bangalorean food available anywhere in bangalore. loved the simplicity of the place, authentic taste of food and friendly service from the staff. would love to visit this place as many times as possible.

it was a legendary place but it may loose it's popularity due to negligent service, rude behavior of waiters and chutney pored on the dosa. legend should not die, it's hiers must carry it's legacy with pride by serving the customers the best.

the authentic taste of south indian food which everyone should atleast give a try. a worth visiting place and totally worth the waiting time. this place is crowded most of the time and you will have to share table with others too. i guess our waiting time was approx 40mins, but that was worth. the flavour and taste completed mesmerized our taste buds.🥰

amazingly crisp dosa full of ghee..slightly thicker than the usual dosas but very filling and tasty. the bhaji that came with the masala dosa was mild and nice too. the vada was crisp and wholesome, khara bhat was good too and the coffee delicious. very light on the pocket. there can be some wait for a table and you will most likely have to share it with someone.

i am from kolkata and have a knack of knowing about legendary places to eat, restaurants or eateries with a history attached to it. therefore, visited vidyarthi bhavan for breakfast during one fine morning pf 2019.

being a legendary place, i was expecting it to be crowded. waited for around 40 mins to get to order which had everything from masala dosa, idli, poori sagu, kesari bath and lastly, filter coffee. the price for each item was reasonable. the taste, too authentic and good. we were 5 in the group who have been staying at hyderabad for last 7 years(for job) and i must say that the dosa of bangalore tastes a bit different than that of hyderabad, no comparison though. if it's dosa from bangalore, vb comes at top3 for me. would love to go back again sometime.

the staffs at this place are super efficient and they are very dedicated. everything works in a systematic manner and hence, each and every customer is served properly.

i reached there at 06:50 am 20 minutes after the opening time, yet i had to wait another 15 minutes to enter the place that is the sort of crowd that relish the iconic masala dosa here at this age old place. the cheapest and probably the best masala dosa in bangalore for this price, people come in the hundreds to have food from this place which is cheap and best 👍

we went here because this place is soo famous. and unfortunately, the fame has gone in their heads!

extremely rude staff…..they shouted at my mom who is 65yrs old, when she went to get some sugar for her coffee.

then comes the food….nothing extra ordinary honestly, i like dvg benne dosa much more. the chutney at this place isn’t made of pure coconut and is quite runny. the dosa also was wayy too oily!

the only thing i liked in the dosa was how crispy yet soft it was…but that type of dosa you can get at multiple places in bangalore, so no brownie points for that, sorry…

we also tried their khara bath - now this was something amazing. i am a maharashtrian and i was expecting something like upma, but it blew me off! it was nice and spicy, i loved it!

overall i think they still have customers only because of the hype. those who stay in bangalore would definitely know about better places than this.

after several attempts finally we landed here on monday early morning (weekends you can't get inside due to heavy crowd). we ordered almost everything and loved each and every bit of it. the ambiance would take you to old bangalore.. the service was so fast and bill was so affordable. highly recommended

highly hyped place for which i had to wake up early on a sunday morning. dosas were dripping with oil, idly was served with sweet sambar (not my preference) and pooris tasted bitter (don't know if it's supposed to be like that)

i definitely like the kaara bath and coffee, rest all were just okay.
