one of the best and iconic eatery of old bengaluru. well this place has some good vibes and ambience. it's one of the oldest restaurants of bengaluru, the interiors give you the 1980s feeling, old walls, picture frames of oldbangaloreand some renowned personalities. old table seatings, glad they haven't changed a lot, also ensuring nothing is worn-out.

we have had masala dosa, khari bath, kesari bath, vada-sambar and washed it down the throat by a strong refreshing filter coffee !! the crispy dosa makes your tastebuds flabbergasted....too good. and the sambar will definitely blow your brains off, it's perfect, tangy, sweet with right amount of spices.

reaching this place is not an issue but finding a parking is. this is definitely a must visit place whenever you wish, you do require patience to stand outside and wait for your turn. they do run on first-come-first-serve basis. worth visiting if you live in bangalore.

one of the oldest places in bangalore, i was excited to visit this place. and went all the way from north ofbangaloreto southbangaloreon a sunday early morning to have some good breakfast.

first of all know that i have never been here before so i can't compare the quality before and the one now. sure would help to make it a point to be there by 7:30 for lesser wait time and give your name at the counter so they can call you once the table is ready. you would have to share it with fellow banagloreans.

we tried everything that was on the menu it won't go beyond 150 rupees per person (max). quantity is perfect for a small human like me. four stars because the chutney lacked salt, masala dosa was thicker than expected and lacked masala and the main dishes were swimming in the side dishes. but that was just a personal preference.

my experience was great! i personally loved the khara baath but masala dosa was ordinary. kesari baath and filter coffee is a must try and a definite show stopper. some people complained about the bitter coffee, but this coffee is as authentic as it gets.

75 years and counting, this place did not disappoint! would go back when i go for another long drive :p

amazing 😍 place to treat your taste buds with authentic south indian food. place is very hygienic and staff is very well behaved and dressed neatly in traditional. there is enough place to sit, however if place is too crowded which is quite often, it hardly takes 15 mins to get the seat. i have had the softest idli in last 11 years inbangaloreat this place, must try. masala dosa is nicely roasted in ghee and served with delicious coconut chutney. you can stop reading now and go give your taste buds a good treat. i hope you like the food as much as i did. enjoy !!

this place is always jam packed, there no day when you literally don’t have to wait in line to get a table. after waiting we finally got a table, mind it you might have to share your table with others😅
we tried their masala dosa, idli dip, vada and kesari bath, which was outstanding and mouthwatering. sambar and chutney was a true companion really done to perfection. this place is one of thebangalorefinest.

i am from kolkata and have a knack of knowing about legendary places to eat, restaurants or eateries with a history attached to it. therefore, visited vidyarthi bhavan for breakfast during one fine morning pf 2019.

being a legendary place, i was expecting it to be crowded. waited for around 40 mins to get to order which had everything from masala dosa, idli, poori sagu, kesari bath and lastly, filter coffee. the price for each item was reasonable. the taste, too authentic and good. we were 5 in the group who have been staying at hyderabad for last 7 years(for job) and i must say that the dosa ofbangaloretastes a bit different than that of hyderabad, no comparison though. if it's dosa from bangalore, vb comes at top3 for me. would love to go back again sometime.

the staffs at this place are super efficient and they are very dedicated. everything works in a systematic manner and hence, each and every customer is served properly.

i reached there at 06:50 am 20 minutes after the opening time, yet i had to wait another 15 minutes to enter the place that is the sort of crowd that relish the iconic masala dosa here at this age old place. the cheapest and probably the best masala dosa inbangalorefor this price, people come in the hundreds to have food from this place which is cheap and best 👍

we went here because this place is soo famous. and unfortunately, the fame has gone in their heads!

extremely rude staff…..they shouted at my mom who is 65yrs old, when she went to get some sugar for her coffee.

then comes the food….nothing extra ordinary honestly, i like dvg benne dosa much more. the chutney at this place isn’t made of pure coconut and is quite runny. the dosa also was wayy too oily!

the only thing i liked in the dosa was how crispy yet soft it was…but that type of dosa you can get at multiple places in bangalore, so no brownie points for that, sorry…

we also tried their khara bath - now this was something amazing. i am a maharashtrian and i was expecting something like upma, but it blew me off! it was nice and spicy, i loved it!

overall i think they still have customers only because of the hype. those who stay inbangalorewould definitely know about better places than this.

coming tobangaloreand not having dosas here would be a sin. i was told that they use ghee/butter in their dosas so i wasn't sure if i should go but i anyways tried to use my luck. the staff told me they use oil and i had the biggest smile on my face. i asked for a masala dosa. the dosa was thick, yet crisp and very wholesome. the chutney was out of the world too. typing this review from my home in bombay, i cant help but salivate at the thought of having this amazing dosa again soon. please visit for the yummiest dosas!

finally visited one of the legendary places inbangaloreafter spending 7 years here.

idli was nice. the oil we ordered was bad. there was some dosa in the oil. 😉

it might be a legendary place but not sure if the food was always like this or it has just turned bad.

also, i don't understand why during they make people sit at the sharing tables when we are in the middle of a pandemic. definitely no social distancing is followed.

i am not sure if i am going to visit the place again.

this is vintage legendary place inbangalorefor crispy buttery masala dosa with yummy chutney, sagu dosa is one of the special item and my all time favourite rava vada served usually only in the evening. the taste over the years is almost same and the staff need special mention who cater to the ever crowded place but managing still has scope for improvement.
