great service! the wahoo special and dragon roll..yum. skip the red sangria-too sweet. overall great service and verypkeased with the food...recommend!

fun happy hour with a sunset view. looking for a fun and scenic happy hour spot? skull creek has it all. delicious customized ceviche dish made with super fresh seafood. gumbo yaya also very tasty. good live entertainment and a beautiful view of the sunset made for a very enjoyable evening. get there early, place fills up fast and long waits occur if you plan on staying for dinner.

marriott suggested: oysters tiny and food ..... may i suggest red lobster long wait lots if people not sure what the draw is

if you are really old with no taste buds, would be the only way i would recommend anyone!!!!

disappointed. we have been vacationing in hilton head for 20 years. during this 20 years we have dined at many restaurants. until this evening, skull creek boathouse was one of our favorites. upon arrival, we checked in with the hostess and were told that the wait for outside dining was 30 minutes. after waiting over 45 minutes, the gentleman who was trying to get us to visit a timeshare opportunity on the island, inquired about the wait time. he returned to tell us we were next in line. during this 45 minute wait we noticed that a table for four sat empty the entire time. we also noticed that a few families who used the valet service and who were obviously regulars were seated immediately. after this long wait, we were ushered on a long walk outside around the back side of the bar to a picnic table with dirty dog dishes full of water at our feet. the hostess just seated us and left. she could have explained that they opened the picnic tables in order to seat us more timely. the waiter arrived at the table to explain that this table was opened for diners and that he would be glad to serve us a drink, but we would have to leave if they needed the table. i was furious to say the least. i explained that we were diners and the hostess seated us at this table. i turned to my husband and stated that we needed to leave. the waiter was apologetic and asked what he could do to make the experience better. i stated that we were here to have an enjoyable dinner for two with music in the background. sitting behind the bar with dogs, smokers, and people hanging around our table was far from romantic. in the end we decided to stay. the waiter did a nice job with the situation, our appetizer and entrée were served in a timely manner, and he continued to check on us. it was obvious to us that we were not part of the boathouse club and were initially treated that way. the owners need to realize that we visit on a yearly basis and tell all our friends about the experience. this experience has left us disappointed and will visit other restaurants instead of returning to this establishment. we deserved better treatment. the table for four remained open when we left. interesting.

for those of us who live here we have seen this restaurant go thru many ups and downs based on the ownership at the time. the location and view are outstanding. many locals including those in the hospitality and charter fishing industry call this place home. we love it despite the many faults and are happy to call it a home away from home. however there comes a time when enough is enough. maybe it's the owners who are to blame or maybe it is the staff who are just burnt out from the overwhelming popularity of the place. no doubt about it, this is a hectic , busy , tough place to work . if the owners aren't treating the staff in the appropriate manner there is no way they will treat the customers as they should. i can only assume that is the cause of the horrible and sad service one receives at the outside bar these days. if you expect timely service, a correct final bill listing what you ordered, and actually receive what you ordered without being treated as a problem customer you may want to go elsewhere. if locals recieve such treatment , good luck to visitors.
me, i am in the process of finding a new hangout . i'm giving up the great view and easy location to my house . it won't be easy but i am up to the task. . i am looking forward to meeting new ,friendly bartenders who like their job and the customers who come by regularly . tasty food items will arrive when ordered and not just on the bill, and happy hour will be happy. i' ll let you know where i land. you may find you want to join me and new friends.

lunch with a view. my first time at skull creek and i left full and happy. my family and i went for lunch because it was recommended and because it was close to our kayaking location. the atmosphere was excellent! we sat outside on the deck and had a great view of the water (and alligator). we were there on a friday right at noon and it wasn't too crowded. the service was great and the food was filling. i had the creole cobb salad lunch combo with the fish sandwich. the sandwich was only okay, but the salad was excellent. i left nothing in the bottom of the bowl! we didn't have to wait on a table and our food came out within a reasonable time frame. i guess it just depends on what time of year and day you go.

the ambiance and view are the only things that are good about this place. the service is terrible, courses were forgotten (after several reminders), our group's drinks stayed dry after the first initial serving, entrees were brought out 20 minutes apart so one fourth of our group ate well before the rest of us got our food, the table bread was forgotten and brought at the end of the meal. the food was middling at best, though the sushi was very good.

so much for a relaxing meal. on an island full of middling seafood, i will choose one with a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.

atmosphere was amazing but service was absolutely terrible. food was decent but i could not get beyond how bad the service was to enjoy anything. waitress seemed upset i was even there and don't believe she smiled once. ordered crab dip as an appetizer and it never came ... even though we reminded her twice. like i said food was decent but not worth the stop unless you have a few hours and want to entertain yourself.

i was told the wait was about 30 minutes, but it was only about 15. the hosts were very friendly. we ate fried green beans as our appetizer which were awesome, the sauce was very spicy though. i asked the server if the salmon rockefeller was better than another entree that was more expensive and he told me it was. the salmon rockefeller was a few dollars cheaper so i figured it was his honest opinion. it was the best piece of fish i've had in a long time. when it got to the table the filet was fat and still very hot. the spinach was delicious and the sauce on top balanced the meal very well. when we were leaving there were tons of cops every where for some reason. i was id'd by three different people, the bartender , server and manager. a bit annoying but overall the experience was great. the view is awesome and the boathouse theme decorations in the restaurant are pretty cool. the restaurant seemed to be very clean. as soon as tables got up to leave, they were being bussed and swept. next time my fraternity comes to hilton head, i'll make sure we go here as a group. it's very hard to find restaurants on the beach that aren't just tourist traps and this restaurant does not fall into that category.

great food and atmosphere. also grey view of the water. go for an early dinner so you don't have to wait for a table.

awesome again. great food. the swordfish and sushi is excellent.

today we went to the boathouse. after first driving in, you could tell it was super busy. no spits were avaiable to park, but luckily they had a free parking service which we used. i must say i was lucky on the wait. i had gotten a reservation through my hotel (marriott). others beside me were given a 1hr 30min wait and i just had to wait 5min. the atmoshere is terrific, from a dock you can go down to, live music, and a kids zone. sitting down inside the waiter was great! the service was top notch. everybody was over satisfied by their meals and we all had a great time. we will definatly come back again! overall 9/10

long wait. food was good. bathrooms very cramped and no changing table. i've been to better and worse places. smelt very fishy inside on the night we went.

below par. we went for the "sunset menu" on a tuesday in july. we had no wait time for a party of ten- which was great. we were originally seated outside, but when the skies darkened, we were moved inside. it was really dark, and loud. not a huge deal. no one was blown away by their food. i got a fried sampler, nothing impressive and it was kind of undercooked. just overall not impressive at all. they do give you a ton of food. other close by restaurants are much better. would advice against

i had the princess thai salad which was very good! my mac n cheese on the other hand...was definitely "stoufers", which was dissapointing. know that if you are gonna go you will have to wait forever. it was a monday at 7:30 and we had to wait an hour and a half!!
