had dinner on thursday night. we sat outside, the view is amazing and the weather happened to be perfect! we got 3 different sushi items to start as well as oysters. all were amazing! our entrees were just as good! nick waited on his and he was great, everything was perfect! thanks for theserviceand wonderful evening!

i really enjoyed my dinner. the seafood was very fresh and theservicewas good.

great success story. ive been to the boat house 5-6 times and is normally very, very good. come for the reagee band on mondays..great time.serviceis trained and professional. a winner and a real success story for serg group. best of the serg group.

wait was 1 1/2 but it went by rather fast. lots of things to do while you wait and the view is amazing! food andservicewas awesome as well. ate there twice during our week stay at hilton head.

skull creek boathouse rocks!. we've been coming here for decades and the food has always been awesomely good. the royal sampler i had tonight was delicious, and the crab cakes, stuffed shrimp, and fried oysters are personal favorites.servicehas always been very good, too. only issue was the music outside was a little close to death metal this time.

poor service, average food. i had a pretty terrible experience at the boathouse. i contacted the manager the next day and received no response and was not compensated at the time of service. overall, very poor customer service. below is a copy of the email i sent to the manager regarding our bad experience:
i'm a regular visitor to hilton head island. i've been coming to hilton head at least once a year for the past 26 years. i've made a point to make the boathouse part of my visits for many of those years. however, i had a particularly bad experience this evening and i won't be returning.

after waiting for over an hour when we were told 45 minutes my husband and i along with our 2 small children were finally seated. i initially ordered 2 kids spaghettis with green beans, but your server informed me that one kids spaghetti would be plenty for both of my children and recommended i order one plate and one side of green beans since the kids pasta does not come with a side. i followed his recommendation. although he had been the one to recommend splitting the spaghetti, he failed to bring 2 bowls for me to split the spaghetti between my children. my kids had to wait even longer for their dinner. additionally, the kids spaghetti was not nearly enough to split between my kids (even though according to your server it would be plenty) and they both left hungry.

on top of all that i ordered the chicken tacos as my entree but was brought fish tacos. by the time my order was corrected and brought out to me, the rest of my family had finished eating. i ended up having to take the tacos to go rather than enjoying a nice meal out with my family.

i was incredibly disappointed with theserviceand the lack of compensation for the errors made by the staff. i hate to say that i won't be returning and i won't be recommending the boathouse any longer.

sunsets and waterside dining. the food worth raving about, but one should not overlook the magnificent view and rich experience afforded any guest!

the evironment offers 1)front row seats to colorful sunsets (and the perfect deck lounge seating to relish them), 2) birds eye view of infamous fish tales and fresh catches coming off the docks (also served at the restaurant) and an experience of greatserviceon the ground by hospitable sun kissed smiling staff!

went for dinner on a monday. there was a large crowd so i sat at the bar. had a spicy bloody mary which was good. peel and eat shrimp and a basket of hush puppies and i was full. servicewas good. they had a pretty comprehensive selection of seafood items as well as some fresh fish choices and several oyster choices. all in all worth the trip out there (it can be a long ride at the end of he day depending on where you’re staying) particularly if you’re a fan of seafood. 3.5 stars

this is one of the classic vacation dining experiences that everyone in your group remembers and wants to repeat each year. there is usually an hour wait but here's a tip, first come - first serve seating at the tables outside by the bar. even if you have to wait there is enough to do to keep the little ones happy with outdoor games, watching the boats, outdoor bar and shopping in the general store. grab a drink and settle in.

they have a huge menu and it can be hard to decide. freshly caught fish is always good but if that's not your thing then the crab cakes or shrimp and grits will not disappoint. seafood platters are good and an easy decision for something that will have you rubbing your belly the rest of the night. i've had hit or miss experiences with the shellfish as far as preparation goes and it is usually over cooked. sushi is good but you can expect a pretty long wait for it if you are thinking about having it for an appetizer(you will probably get your meal before it comes out).

speaking of apps, the crab dip is good, the fried green tomatoes with goat cheese and sautéed hot peppers is my favorite. portions are smaller for appetizers so don't expect to have enough for a party of more than 3-4.

overall, we keep going back and that has as much to do with the atmosphere as it does the food. both are good but together it makes it an enjoyable evening. it's worth the wait and take advantage of the free valetserviceinstead of fighting for parking.

super cool restaurant on the water in hilton head.  get here early if you don't like waiting for a table.  we got there by 5pm and only had to wait about 10-15 minutes.  by the time we left the wait was 90 minutes.  the menu is mostly seafood but they have other stuff too.  try to sit outside if you able.  the patio is huge and beautiful.  also a nice bar area outside.  the food and drinks are a but overpriced, but that is expected somewhere like hilton head.  all of our dishes were pretty good.  no one was blown away by their meal, but everything was tasty.  ourservicewas pretty good despite how busy it was there.  try it out if you are on the island.

ok - but no "wow" factor. the boathouse has a pretty cool setting but "ok" is about all i can do- the low country boil was ok- pretty good taste- coconut shrimp- usually a favorite- not bad - just boring- the downside - service- if you are a middle aged male with your family forget any kind of realservice- however most of our waiter's time seemed to be with a couple of tables across from us - kinda funny really, but not really good service-

waste of time. 1. this place is busier than any place on hhi. 2. they do not take reservations (much like many restaurants on hhi). 3. the food andserviceis "average" at best. when i say average...i mean like applebees average. there is nothing special or interesting about this place. i live less than 5 minutes away in hhp, and im stunned at how busy it is. because so many friends and family want to eat there, ive been in at least 20-30 times, and im baffled. never once have i left thinking..."wow, that was a great dinner!" its a 4 out of 10

dang it's busy!. i so rather eat here in the winter than during the summer tourist season. food andserviceis great *(well, except for one visit sunday may 1st, 2011 where there were 12 empty tables at 8:30pm and the "manager" and hostess said "how many? 5? okay, it'll be an hour wait." wtf?! seriously?) but overall, this is a great place for food, atmosphere and a good time.

a looooooong wait but still great!. after reading reviews, we thought we'd give this one a try. upon arriving, we saw the big crowd but also so a lot of people leaving so we thought it wouldn't be too bad. 2 hours 20 minutes. yep! shocked, we thought we'd find somewhere else but upon checking, most were 45-1 hour waits. the weather was pleasant & there was an outdoor bar so we decided to stick it out & have a couple of drinks. since it was on the water, we had a lot to watch. it really did take about 2 hours to get seated and when we finally did, theservicewas excellent. our server was attentive, quick, polite, and very pleasant. our food arrived within a nice amount of time and it was delicious! we were afraid that, it being that late - we didn't sit down until 9:30 - that the food would be less than tasty. not so. truly enjoyed this place & would definitely go back - but probably a good bit earlier. oh - if you want to sit at the bar, that will really cut down on your wait time. clean & fun place to eat!

the bread and crab legs were great. however, the shrimp were okay at best. i asked the waiter if the mac and cheese was from a box and he said no. box mac and cheese would have been better. alsoservicewas terrible. we were not even acknowledged and sat waiting for almost 15 minutes before they ever even came to our table.

great location and attmosphere. we've eaten here quite a few times and we've always had decentserviceand good food. if it was land locked, i would say it was a little over-priced. the real draw of the place is the patio and the water view.
