a taste of hilton head. while visiting hilton head island my father voiced his desire to try an authentic low country boil so after attending the welcome to the time share breakfast we inquired a local his recommendation for best sea food restaurant on the island so we ended up at skull creek boathouse. it was during the week in october (not exactly high tourist season) so the restaurant wasn't too full when we arrived. sine we had reviewed the menu prior to coming we knew what we intended to order: a cup of the sea food chowder (creamy soup with crab, shrimp, scallops, fish, clams, and potatoes), the blackened fish tacos, the pecan ginger crusted mahi mahi with savannah red rice, and low country boil, the soup and my house salad were the first to arrive at the table and were okay. next came the entrees the mahi mahi was very tender and juice with a hint of the ginger spice, the fish tacos were good but there were only two to the order, and the low country boil was as described on the menu but missing any seasoning (old bay). for dessert we had a piece of key lime pie. the food was alright but i think i'll try a differentseafoodrestaurant the next time i'm on hilton head island.
