the food is good...large menu...theatmosphereis fun. if you want a seat with water views...make a reservation. this was a great family joint!

good, not great. i had dinner tonight with my husband and two young children. theatmosphereis relaxed and family friendly. i liked that it felt like a popular hhi eatery. the location and views seemed nice but we weren't fortunate enough to be seated at a table with a water view. the parking lot was congested and flooded due to rain. the long walk to the restaurant was no big deal for us but might be a consideration if someone in your party has difficulty walking. our server was friendly. i ordered a seafood combo plate which included crab cakes, scallops and stuffed shrimp with rice and veggies. it was good but not memorable. the rice was heavily seasoned and didn't compliment the seafood at all. crab cakes and scallops were good. the stuffed shrimp was weird. the stuffing had an odd flavor and there was practically no shrimp meat. husband ordered a surf and turf with ny strip and shrimp. again, good but not great.

pretty good local seafood! we didn't love the insideatmosphereand wish we would have had a table outside. i think we would have liked it better outside! overall we would come back be the food was good.

this is one of the classic vacation dining experiences that everyone in your group remembers and wants to repeat each year. there is usually an hour wait but here's a tip, first come - first serve seating at the tables outside by the bar. even if you have to wait there is enough to do to keep the little ones happy with outdoor games, watching the boats, outdoor bar and shopping in the general store. grab a drink and settle in.

they have a huge menu and it can be hard to decide. freshly caught fish is always good but if that's not your thing then the crab cakes or shrimp and grits will not disappoint. seafood platters are good and an easy decision for something that will have you rubbing your belly the rest of the night. i've had hit or miss experiences with the shellfish as far as preparation goes and it is usually over cooked. sushi is good but you can expect a pretty long wait for it if you are thinking about having it for an appetizer(you will probably get your meal before it comes out).

speaking of apps, the crab dip is good, the fried green tomatoes with goat cheese and sautéed hot peppers is my favorite. portions are smaller for appetizers so don't expect to have enough for a party of more than 3-4.

overall, we keep going back and that has as much to do with theatmosphereas it does the food. both are good but together it makes it an enjoyable evening. it's worth the wait and take advantage of the free valet service instead of fighting for parking.

one of our favorite places to eat on the island! greatatmosphereand service. very reasonable lunch specials & amazing raw bar! my husband also loves the loaded corona.

mediocre seafood for the masses!. the food at this restaurant is average and overpriced.atmosphereis hectic, loud and not what you would expect for the prices. it is truly a tourist trap!

waste of time. 1. this place is busier than any place on hhi. 2. they do not take reservations (much like many restaurants on hhi). 3. the food and service is "average" at best. when i say average...i mean like applebees average. there is nothing special or interesting about this place. i live less than 5 minutes away in hhp, and im stunned at how busy it is. because so many friends and family want to eat there, ive been in at least 20-30 times, and im baffled. never once have i left thinking..."wow, that was a great dinner!" its a 4 out of 10

dang it's busy!. i so rather eat here in the winter than during the summer tourist season. food and service is great *(well, except for one visit sunday may 1st, 2011 where there were 12 empty tables at 8:30pm and the "manager" and hostess said "how many? 5? okay, it'll be an hour wait." wtf?! seriously?) but overall, this is a great place for food,atmosphereand a good time.

great view, great vibe, food ok. we had an amazing view of the intercoastal waters and boats while we sat underneath a tall tree that kept us in the shade. we kept getting hit by some berries from the tree, but it was no big deal, but we were right by the bar that had nice ocean vibe to it. our food was ok i guess. this place is definitely must go to because of the views. our apps were great but entrees alright for the price. we got the hush puppies, calamari and coconut shrimp. all three were amazing. my steamed shrimp was a little bland and my wife's friend shrimp was "eh, ok" i guess. definitely paying for theatmosphereand scenery than the entrees, but great apps.

water view and cold beer were great! food was pretty awful for me... my chowder was ok but nothing special. the fried clams were extremely greasy and tasted of ...well... grease. fiancé was happy with his fish tacos. i'll try one more time and order something not fried only because of the greatatmosphereand location.

lunch with a view. my first time at skull creek and i left full and happy. my family and i went for lunch because it was recommended and because it was close to our kayaking location. theatmospherewas excellent! we sat outside on the deck and had a great view of the water (and alligator). we were there on a friday right at noon and it wasn't too crowded. the service was great and the food was filling. i had the creole cobb salad lunch combo with the fish sandwich. the sandwich was only okay, but the salad was excellent. i left nothing in the bottom of the bowl! we didn't have to wait on a table and our food came out within a reasonable time frame. i guess it just depends on what time of year and day you go.

theatmosphereis great... food --not so much.

great food and variety!. we loved theatmosphereand the wide variety of choices at the boathouse. i chose the shrimp and crab quesadillas. it was really great and different. my husband loved the trio with flounder, scallops and shrimp. definitely worth going to this place. theatmosphereis on the water and you look at the boats and visit the docks after dinner.

we just returned from skb and it was unanimous that this place rocks! the food was top notch, service was great,atmosphereis perfect for family! i had the shrimp n grits and wish i could eat it every night. when we visit hhi again this will probably be our first stop!

the boathouse is a family favorite, i'm a local and even the sites i see are amazing. it is tough to get into and some of the waiting staff is inadequate, but the food is delicious!! i enjoy getting their seafood delights and i love their sushi. i love theatmospherebut it can be extremely loud!! try sitting outside for an escape from the noise.
