wonderful experience with the family. everyone was raving about their dishes. outdoor patio is the place to be in the summer, beautiful view of the water. also, the bread they bring to the table took the cake. fantastic! can'twaitto return.

awesome ambiance! we had about a 20 minutewaitbut there were adirondack chairs near the bar where you could grab a drink and look out over the water, which was perfect! we enjoyed the live music, excellent drink selection and fresh seafood!!

big box nightmare. took another chance at this location; turns out once again...that's all this place has going for it. too long of a wait, too long for the food to arrive. (i understand the attraction, but 2 hours towaitto sit then one and a half hours for the apps to come to the table? tragic.) food was mediocre at very best, server was overwhelmed, undertrained and overmatched to handle the section he had. manager never stopped by to address any of the issues we were experiencing. the owner/chef? couple of notes you might want to work on....the food wasn't hot, lacked flavor and got to the table so far after our arrival i felt like the experience was totally wasted. performance of the entire place was forgettable save for the nice people at the host stand. final result? never again.

wait was 1 1/2 but it went by rather fast. lots of things to do while youwaitand the view is amazing! food and service was awesome as well. ate there twice during our week stay at hilton head.

great, fun restaurant! we showed up at 7 with a party of 3, were told thewaitwould be 1 hour to 1.5 hrs. we only waited 34 minutes! beautiful atmosphere, amazing food! i loved the hush puppies. i got a cup of the scb soup and a huge spicy sushi roll. they were fantastic. my husband had the biggest alaskan king crab legs i have ever seen, and my mom got fried shrimp. the french fries weren't too great but everything else was so good it doesn't matter. i have been coming to hilton head island since i was about 10 (i am now 28) and this was our first time here. we will definitely be coming back!

poor service, average food. i had a pretty terrible experience at the boathouse. i contacted the manager the next day and received no response and was not compensated at the time of service. overall, very poor customer service. below is a copy of the email i sent to the manager regarding our bad experience:
i'm a regular visitor to hilton head island. i've been coming to hilton head at least once a year for the past 26 years. i've made a point to make the boathouse part of my visits for many of those years. however, i had a particularly bad experience this evening and i won't be returning.

after waiting for over an hour when we were told 45 minutes my husband and i along with our 2 small children were finally seated. i initially ordered 2 kids spaghettis with green beans, but your server informed me that one kids spaghetti would be plenty for both of my children and recommended i order one plate and one side of green beans since the kids pasta does not come with a side. i followed his recommendation. although he had been the one to recommend splitting the spaghetti, he failed to bring 2 bowls for me to split the spaghetti between my children. my kids had towaiteven longer for their dinner. additionally, the kids spaghetti was not nearly enough to split between my kids (even though according to your server it would be plenty) and they both left hungry.

on top of all that i ordered the chicken tacos as my entree but was brought fish tacos. by the time my order was corrected and brought out to me, the rest of my family had finished eating. i ended up having to take the tacos to go rather than enjoying a nice meal out with my family.

i was incredibly disappointed with the service and the lack of compensation for the errors made by the staff. i hate to say that i won't be returning and i won't be recommending the boathouse any longer.

good view, tasty food, live music outside until 9p, decent prices, longwaiteven on weeknight (aka eat at the bar = no wait)... we got 1lb peel n eat shrimp $17, 4 deviled eggs $3.50, green beans $3, tuna sashimi $10, scallop ceviche $9, pinot noir $7, jim beam $5.50. overall thumbs up!

this is one of the classic vacation dining experiences that everyone in your group remembers and wants to repeat each year. there is usually an hourwaitbut here's a tip, first come - first serve seating at the tables outside by the bar. even if you have towaitthere is enough to do to keep the little ones happy with outdoor games, watching the boats, outdoor bar and shopping in the general store. grab a drink and settle in.

they have a huge menu and it can be hard to decide. freshly caught fish is always good but if that's not your thing then the crab cakes or shrimp and grits will not disappoint. seafood platters are good and an easy decision for something that will have you rubbing your belly the rest of the night. i've had hit or miss experiences with the shellfish as far as preparation goes and it is usually over cooked. sushi is good but you can expect a pretty longwaitfor it if you are thinking about having it for an appetizer(you will probably get your meal before it comes out).

speaking of apps, the crab dip is good, the fried green tomatoes with goat cheese and sautéed hot peppers is my favorite. portions are smaller for appetizers so don't expect to have enough for a party of more than 3-4.

overall, we keep going back and that has as much to do with the atmosphere as it does the food. both are good but together it makes it an enjoyable evening. it's worth thewaitand take advantage of the free valet service instead of fighting for parking.

food ok, we did the sushi. i will be back. it was packed. 18 to 80. ate at the outside bar, it was a 90 minutewaitfor a table. lots of scenery. :)

super cool restaurant on the water in hilton head.  get here early if you don't like waiting for a table.  we got there by 5pm and only had towaitabout 10-15 minutes.  by the time we left thewaitwas 90 minutes.  the menu is mostly seafood but they have other stuff too.  try to sit outside if you able.  the patio is huge and beautiful.  also a nice bar area outside.  the food and drinks are a but overpriced, but that is expected somewhere like hilton head.  all of our dishes were pretty good.  no one was blown away by their meal, but everything was tasty.  our service was pretty good despite how busy it was there.  try it out if you are on the island.

we arrived at 5:11 pm at skull creek boathouse, currently is is 7:46 pm and we have not been seated. this restaurant has turned into my own personal hell and i haven't eaten a thing. towaitthis long for fried seafood, i must need to make an appointment with a psychiatrist.

unless waiting 2.5 hours or more on a random thursday is your idea of a good time, i would steer clear of skull creek boathouse.

i go here entirely too often because they are so consistently good. there is always a wait, but for good reason. the food is great. always check the seat yourself areas. i often avoid thewaitby sitting at one of the bar areas.

very good seafood place on the marina. had towaitabout an hour before being seated but it was worth the wait. ample outdoor seating. crab cakes, shrimp, oysters, and soup were excellent. nice family environment and nice food in hilton head island.

a looooooongwaitbut still great!. after reading reviews, we thought we'd give this one a try. upon arriving, we saw the big crowd but also so a lot of people leaving so we thought it wouldn't be too bad. 2 hours 20 minutes. yep! shocked, we thought we'd find somewhere else but upon checking, most were 45-1 hour waits. the weather was pleasant & there was an outdoor bar so we decided to stick it out & have a couple of drinks. since it was on the water, we had a lot to watch. it really did take about 2 hours to get seated and when we finally did, the service was excellent. our server was attentive, quick, polite, and very pleasant. our food arrived within a nice amount of time and it was delicious! we were afraid that, it being that late - we didn't sit down until 9:30 - that the food would be less than tasty. not so. truly enjoyed this place & would definitely go back - but probably a good bit earlier. oh - if you want to sit at the bar, that will really cut down on yourwaittime. clean & fun place to eat!

marriott suggested: oysters tiny and food ..... may i suggest red lobster longwaitlots if people not sure what the draw is
