i was really disappointed that the chimes did not offer veterans anything special on veterans day weekend. there were two other vets with me who felt the same.

we eat at the chimes fairly regular or should i say we used to!

i never realized that the chimes was open late. no excuses anymore for crappy fast food after work. having been to the original, i will say that the east location doesn’t miss a beat. great service, warm atmosphere and of course an excellent meal. i had the chicken alfredo with house salad. the salad is what you expect for a side item. alfredo was delicious and the chicken was moist and tender. not dry at all. really, it’s hard to mess up chicken alfredo, but it really hit the spot.

great, and while not as historic as the original, in some ways better.  always try to come to the chimes when in baton rouge, and the new location doesn't disappoint.  parking is much easier, and while it is decades newer than the original it still puts off the same atmosphere, but updated.

can't go wrong with anything, but always a fan of the po boy, and how can you not like a shrimp and grits appetizer.  while there are lots of great places in baton rouge, this should always be on your short list of the places to go, haven't found anything here that you shouldn't order.

i had the crawfish étouffée, it tastes heavenly!
my husband had the half & half choice, with fried catfish and fried shrimp, and said it was real good also.
the waiter was very attentive and courteous.
there is a new menu, with prices a little higher than what was currently posted on this site; but the meal was still worth every cent!

enjoyed the bar scene, very comfortable and plenty of selections.  i like eating at the bar, oysters, soups, sandwiches are all good, no complaints.  lotta fried stuff on the menu.  i did not like sitting in the actual restaurant as the service was below average.  distracted staff no refills on waters and tea.  sit at the bar, get a local brew, and enjoy the atmosphere/game.

service was quite slow and food was mediocre. was also slightly overpriced. i would not recommend to other people as a restaurant. it's a better bar rather than an eatery. there location near louisiana state university is better.

i have to say that the chimes east was an awesome late night spot.  we wanted food after 11 pm and every place that we found was packed.  i pulled out my handy zomato app and was automatically enamored by the selection of the chimes east.  because of my obsession with red beans, i ordered the red beans and rice, which was accompanied with a lovely small loaf of bread and a large side salad.  my companion had the gumbo, which also came with a large side salad.  everything was delightful. (especially our bill).  the atmosphere was fun for that time of the evening, our server was attentive and also gave us samples of the gumbo prior to ordering it, and the food was way to yummy.

this chimes location is not quite the original, but they did a good job building a new place that holds some of the charm of the original. i love the big wood beam and other design elements that make it look old. the food is great and thus is a test place to bring out-of-town guests. the same owners run it as own parrain's, which explains a lot. good daily lunch specials. service is good.

waiter was friendly and helpful. my wife had a salad; the italian dressing was excellent. we shared chargrilled oysters. they were good but nothing compared to the dragos standard. i had seafood "gumbo". i put gumbo in quotes because it wasn't. the roux was unfinished. there was plenty of small shrimp, but the only sign of other seafood was a lonely oyster and empty crab shells. the excess of vegetables made me think that the chimes may have confused okra with an edible sea creature.

my boyfriend and i went to the chimes east to celebrate my birthday and enjoy sunday nfl football. we had a really good time watching the saints game and met some really nice people at the bar.

a couple of days later my boyfriend checked his bill statement online and noticed something was off with the amount he was being charged. he calmly called the restaurant to figure out what was wrong. he then came to find out he was charged for a $200 tip in stead of a $20 tip. the manager told him there was nothing she could do because she has a signed copy of the receipt and they have me signing it on camera. even though he never said i didn't sign the check.

i then went to the restaurant after work to speak to the manager in person. i was then told the same thing. i asked to have a copy of the receipt. the receipt clearly has 20.00. i told her that i did not leave a $200 tip and left a $20.00 tip. the manager then got devensive and said "we perceive the tip amount differently". the $180 difference is is huge and we need to get this corrected asap. the managers response was that the bartenders have already been paid and you're going to need to file this with your bank. which doesn't make any sense because whoever entered the tip amount made the mistake and not the bank. also, the bartender was paid $180 when they never should have received it.

unfortunately the manager refused to help us receive the money we never intended to have left my boyfriends bank account. needless to say, we will not be returning to any of the chimes chains due to the poor customer service. we strongly advice to check your bill statements if you choose to dine at the chimes east or any of their other restaurants.

i have waited tables, bartended, and managed restaurants for 10 years. i have never been so frustrated when i go to a restaurant. the service is horrendous, management is no where to be found, and the food is hit or miss. somebody call robert irvine because i'm sure he would have a field day with this. i bussed my own table, cleaned it, had to get myself silverware and menus and our table stayed dirty. just not my idea of what a dining experience should be like.
