the chimes east

starting not to like. when this place first opened i was here almost every week. the boudin was the best and thefoodwas good for the money. now it seems like they don't care and thefoodis hit and miss. waitresses have slight attitudes and there is always 6-10 girls at a hostess booth who will finish their conversation before they help you. i'll be heading back to mike anderson's if it stays this way.

great!. love this place!! great food, fun bar!! a great place to have dinner and drinks. people are usually skeptical about new locations of classic restaurants such as the chime's, but this is a great way to enjoy the chime'sfoodon the other side of town!

do not eat here. i at here one night and i could not get anyone to serve me. thefoodis terrable. i would not recommend this place.

best chargrilled oysters in the area. they have a large selection of draft beer on tap. goodfoodand great atmosphere. i eat in the bar area most times but have eaten in the restaurant area as well. both clean and good service.

i never realized that the chimes was open late. no excuses anymore for crappy fastfoodafter work. having been to the original, i will say that the east location doesn’t miss a beat. great service, warm atmosphere and of course an excellent meal. i had the chicken alfredo with house salad. the salad is what you expect for a side item. alfredo was delicious and the chicken was moist and tender. not dry at all. really, it’s hard to mess up chicken alfredo, but it really hit the spot.

service was quite slow andfoodwas mediocre. was also slightly overpriced. i would not recommend to other people as a restaurant. it's a better bar rather than an eatery. there location near louisiana state university is better.

love this place! perfect place for a girls night out, it can be a bit noisy but not to much of a problem. thefoodis delicious and the service is always good.

i have to say that the chimes east was an awesome late night spot.  we wantedfoodafter 11 pm and every place that we found was packed.  i pulled out my handy zomato app and was automatically enamored by the selection of the chimes east.  because of my obsession with red beans, i ordered the red beans and rice, which was accompanied with a lovely small loaf of bread and a large side salad.  my companion had the gumbo, which also came with a large side salad.  everything was delightful. (especially our bill).  the atmosphere was fun for that time of the evening, our server was attentive and also gave us samples of the gumbo prior to ordering it, and thefoodwas way to yummy.

this chimes location is not quite the original, but they did a good job building a new place that holds some of the charm of the original. i love the big wood beam and other design elements that make it look old. thefoodis great and thus is a test place to bring out-of-town guests. the same owners run it as own parrain's, which explains a lot. good daily lunch specials. service is good.

i have waited tables, bartended, and managed restaurants for 10 years. i have never been so frustrated when i go to a restaurant. the service is horrendous, management is no where to be found, and thefoodis hit or miss. somebody call robert irvine because i'm sure he would have a field day with this. i bussed my own table, cleaned it, had to get myself silverware and menus and our table stayed dirty. just not my idea of what a dining experience should be like.

great place. the chimes east (and chimes in general) is exactly what it sets out to be. it's a fun place with goodfoodand a good price. the management and staff are really the best in town.
some of the complaints on here are ridiculous. yes it's loud. that's because everyone there is having a great time. thefoodis incredibly consistent which is the sign of good management and a kitchen staff. the wait staff and bartenders are very attentive and nice without seeming fake.

greatfoodand times here. staff is fun, friendly and attentive. excellent and wide selection of beers and spirits. out of towners who want to try la food, then this is the place! not expensive and generous portions. oysters-raw or charbroiled----excellent. recommend the blackened gator. better than chicken!

rude and doomed. i agree with other reviewers that there is definitely a problem at this restaurant. five of us visited on a saturday night for a celebration. most of thefoodwas ok but one dish (blackened chicken alfredo) tasted like nothing. no taste to the pasta or the blackened chicken. (my daughter likes things pretty mild but this was beyond.) we spoke to the waitress about it and she responded blankly saying there was nothing she could do about it except bring out some seasoning and see if that helped. she asked if we wanted to speak to the manager so we agreed. he was nothing short of rude. he offered no apology and gave us the same blank look. he said they could take it back and bring something else out -- which they did, and charged us for it. on the way out i stopped at the hostess stand and told him i was disappointed in his attitude and that they charged for the second dish. he just shrugged his shoulders and said that's how it works. we eat out a lot and know what good customer service is. this place is doomed if this is how they are training their managers and staff to treat customers. thefoodis not good enough to compensate for the nasty attitude. we live five minutes away and will not be going back.
