the chimes east

the good was excellent, but theservicewas mediocre at best. i think everyone who worked there was fresh out of high-school. our waiter never filled our drinks, and came by only twice.

horribleservice& management. last night we celebrated my niece's high school graduation and her choice for dinner was the chimes east on coursey. we arrived at 8:30 pm and was told that we would be seated in 40 minutes. needless to say that there were other families celebrating graduations, so after 40 minutes, we were still waiting. no problem! as a family, we understood. finally after waiting patiently for two hours, buying drinks at the bar and socializing amongst ourselves, we were finally seated. however, they separated the families into two separate parties at separate tables. when asked why the families couldn't be seated together, the waitress stated that it was because they had to have two servers. we couldn't understand why we couldn't all be seated together and they still have two servers. quite simple, one server takes one side, and the other server takes the other. both parties tables were no more than 3 feet from each other, but they still refused to connect the tables. my sister spoke with the manager on duty and she refused to pull both tables together stating that policy was that they had to have two servers. that was the most ignorant excuse that i'd ever heard!!!! what was suppose to be a memorable and special night for my niece ended with her in tears, both her grandmothers along with other guests who had traveled over an hour away having to leave because of lack of seating!!! the manager nor servers showed no sympathy for having upset my niece. i just could not believe at 10:30 pm, my family was finally being seated and was being treated in such a manner!!! my advice to anyone who is recommending the chimes east as a venue for you and your family during any event, don't waste your time!!!!!! they treat you like crap, regardless of the time!!!!!! my money will never support this business!!!!!!!!

enjoyed the bar scene, very comfortable and plenty of selections.  i like eating at the bar, oysters, soups, sandwiches are all good, no complaints.  lotta fried stuff on the menu.  i did not like sitting in the actual restaurant as theservicewas below average.  distracted staff no refills on waters and tea.  sit at the bar, get a local brew, and enjoy the atmosphere/game.

love this place! perfect place for a girls night out, it can be a bit noisy but not to much of a problem. the food is delicious and theserviceis always good.

this chimes location is not quite the original, but they did a good job building a new place that holds some of the charm of the original. i love the big wood beam and other design elements that make it look old. the food is great and thus is a test place to bring out-of-town guests. the same owners run it as own parrain's, which explains a lot. good daily lunch specials.serviceis good.

greatserviceat the bar awesome food also, place looked packed from the parking lot but did not see anyone waiting in line. i was alone so went sit strait at the bar.

foods always good!serviceis always decent! my go to sandwich is the grilled chicken with sweet potato fries. hasn't let me down yet.. can't beat that oyster half price special also!

i have waited tables, bartended, and managed restaurants for 10 years. i have never been so frustrated when i go to a restaurant. theserviceis horrendous, management is no where to be found, and the food is hit or miss. somebody call robert irvine because i'm sure he would have a field day with this. i bussed my own table, cleaned it, had to get myself silverware and menus and our table stayed dirty. just not my idea of what a dining experience should be like.

rude and doomed. i agree with other reviewers that there is definitely a problem at this restaurant. five of us visited on a saturday night for a celebration. most of the food was ok but one dish (blackened chicken alfredo) tasted like nothing. no taste to the pasta or the blackened chicken. (my daughter likes things pretty mild but this was beyond.) we spoke to the waitress about it and she responded blankly saying there was nothing she could do about it except bring out some seasoning and see if that helped. she asked if we wanted to speak to the manager so we agreed. he was nothing short of rude. he offered no apology and gave us the same blank look. he said they could take it back and bring something else out -- which they did, and charged us for it. on the way out i stopped at the hostess stand and told him i was disappointed in his attitude and that they charged for the second dish. he just shrugged his shoulders and said that's how it works. we eat out a lot and know what good customerserviceis. this place is doomed if this is how they are training their managers and staff to treat customers. the food is not good enough to compensate for the nasty attitude. we live five minutes away and will not be going back.

poor managent & bad service. made a reservation and it nearly took them an hour to get the tables ready. the host was rude from the start. it took too long to get our food and it was dry. there were many tables that were open, it wasn't "busy". the server would check on the table once until the complaint was filed. food was bland. the manager wouldn't take back the food in return, then was charging on someone else's card for something they didn't buy. theservicewas just horrible! my worst experience ever.

poor management. 5 days ago, i received a bad steak. it was cooked properly but you couldn't cut through it. i ate a couple of pieces and then i sent it back. it was during a birthday party celebration and i was willing to pay the $300 bill but i did not want to pay for the $22 steak. the manager kept insisting that it was "my opinion" that the steak was no good and refused to do anything. i told him that i was going to give him a negative review online, and what seemed like an eternity, he returned with the bill, finally agreeing to remove the steak charge. the waiter andservicewas good, but the manager was very unprofessional and i will not return to this location.

awfulserviceand awful management. i ate at the chimes east with a group of people for lunch on monday. the server did not make a effort to find out information that i requested until i asked him to please ask if the item was no fat. i was the only lady at the table and he waited on everyone before me. my order was messed up with another order so he had to return the two dishes back to swap the food. he then said he would be back with my mayonnaise which took hi, longer than it should have. he had the mayonnaise in a covered plastic container and throw it on the table and walked away. i called out asking if it was no or low fat and he said "no." he knew i did not want regular mayo and was not going to tell me. he never came to offer to fill up my glass of water. he was also serving another large party and other smaller tables not giving my party attention. i did not feel theserviceor food was with 18% gratuity tip. i told the waiter i did not leave the whole tip and he said fine. suddenly, a young girl came charging to my table and loudly drew attention to my ticket and money i front of my party. she was aggressive, anger and demanding. i was embarrassed and humiliated. i told her not to discuss this at the table in front of everyone. as i was getting up and before i could finish saying let us go to the register to discuss, she abruptly turned around and barged off saying she wii get the manager. i was following her and asked her to slow down because i did not know where she was going. i waited for the manager to come out of the kitchen. he was unfriendly, uncaring, uninterested, unprofessional and rude. he made judgmental and sarcastic faces at my explanation without an apology over $1.23. i later called to speak to another manager who was no better. all he was concerned about is why there is an18% gratuity tip not the inappropriate behavior or poor service. i called the chimes near l s u. the owner was not there so i was referred to a manager. he had the same closed mind attitude. he asked for my name. i thought he was going to offer a gift card to keep my business even though i would not accept one as that was not my intent nor was i going to go out of my way to go to either restaurant. he did not offer me anything. i told him i would never go eat at either chimes nor will i ever recommend this restaurant. these managers and employees do not have proper customer service, social etiquette or work ethics. i had an awful dining experience. very callous and selfish.

we are from texas and wanted to try some dishes unique to the area. scot, our waiter, told us about his favorite meals, and brought samples for us to try. the food was amazing, and theservicewas even better!

disappointed. had an unpleasant experience withserviceand food several months ago but decided to try it again. the wait was reasonable with several large parties before us. the waitress was not very helpful. the chimes no longer has a drink menu you can use - you have to use your smart phone which we tried and it did not work. i feel sorry for those individuals who will have to use their phone to read a menu. we had to ask several times for the specials. the food was delivered in a reasonable time but the cheese fries were disappointing, the crab claws tasted frozen but were edible, the stuffed mushrooms were drowning in what looked like olive oil. the fish of the day was good. on a side note - the bartender had no idea of how to suggest a drink when asked. overall experience was very disappointing. will not be returning to this location. comment cards were not available and now i know why.
