the chimes east

starting not to like. when this place first opened i was here almost every week. the boudin was the best and the food wasgoodfor the money. now it seems like they don't care and the food is hit and miss. waitresses have slight attitudes and there is always 6-10 girls at a hostess booth who will finish their conversation before they help you. i'll be heading back to mike anderson's if it stays this way.

thegoodwas excellent, but the service was mediocre at best. i think everyone who worked there was fresh out of high-school. our waiter never filled our drinks, and came by only twice.

best chargrilled oysters in the area. they have a large selection of draft beer on tap.goodfood and great atmosphere. i eat in the bar area most times but have eaten in the restaurant area as well. both clean andgoodservice.

i had the crawfish étouffée, it tastes heavenly!
my husband had the half & half choice, with fried catfish and fried shrimp, and said it was realgoodalso.
the waiter was very attentive and courteous.
there is a new menu, with prices a little higher than what was currently posted on this site; but the meal was still worth every cent!

this chimes location is not quite the original, but they did agoodjob building a new place that holds some of the charm of the original. i love the big wood beam and other design elements that make it look old. the food is great and thus is a test place to bring out-of-town guests. the same owners run it as own parrain's, which explains a lot.gooddaily lunch specials. service is good.

waiter was friendly and helpful. my wife had a salad; the italian dressing was excellent. we shared chargrilled oysters. they weregoodbut nothing compared to the dragos standard. i had seafood "gumbo". i put gumbo in quotes because it wasn't. the roux was unfinished. there was plenty of small shrimp, but the only sign of other seafood was a lonely oyster and empty crab shells. the excess of vegetables made me think that the chimes may have confused okra with an edible sea creature.

there are some amazing appetizer that is basically sausage and rice fried balls. i don't remember the name but they were awesome. i got the burger which was just ok but the smoked oysters were outstanding. the stuffed potato was reallygoodtoo.

my boyfriend and i went to the chimes east to celebrate my birthday and enjoy sunday nfl football. we had a reallygoodtime watching the saints game and met some really nice people at the bar.

a couple of days later my boyfriend checked his bill statement online and noticed something was off with the amount he was being charged. he calmly called the restaurant to figure out what was wrong. he then came to find out he was charged for a $200 tip in stead of a $20 tip. the manager told him there was nothing she could do because she has a signed copy of the receipt and they have me signing it on camera. even though he never said i didn't sign the check.

i then went to the restaurant after work to speak to the manager in person. i was then told the same thing. i asked to have a copy of the receipt. the receipt clearly has 20.00. i told her that i did not leave a $200 tip and left a $20.00 tip. the manager then got devensive and said "we perceive the tip amount differently". the $180 difference is is huge and we need to get this corrected asap. the managers response was that the bartenders have already been paid and you're going to need to file this with your bank. which doesn't make any sense because whoever entered the tip amount made the mistake and not the bank. also, the bartender was paid $180 when they never should have received it.

unfortunately the manager refused to help us receive the money we never intended to have left my boyfriends bank account. needless to say, we will not be returning to any of the chimes chains due to the poor customer service. we strongly advice to check your bill statements if you choose to dine at the chimes east or any of their other restaurants.

chimes east. i have been a regular for over 5 years now. nothing really bad to say about this place or employees whom most i am friends with outside of their job except for recently things have changed not for thegoodespecially all the fights that break out. some things need to change.

great place. the chimes east (and chimes in general) is exactly what it sets out to be. it's a fun place withgoodfood and agoodprice. the management and staff are really the best in town.
some of the complaints on here are ridiculous. yes it's loud. that's because everyone there is having a great time. the food is incredibly consistent which is the sign ofgoodmanagement and a kitchen staff. the wait staff and bartenders are very attentive and nice without seeming fake.

rude and doomed. i agree with other reviewers that there is definitely a problem at this restaurant. five of us visited on a saturday night for a celebration. most of the food was ok but one dish (blackened chicken alfredo) tasted like nothing. no taste to the pasta or the blackened chicken. (my daughter likes things pretty mild but this was beyond.) we spoke to the waitress about it and she responded blankly saying there was nothing she could do about it except bring out some seasoning and see if that helped. she asked if we wanted to speak to the manager so we agreed. he was nothing short of rude. he offered no apology and gave us the same blank look. he said they could take it back and bring something else out -- which they did, and charged us for it. on the way out i stopped at the hostess stand and told him i was disappointed in his attitude and that they charged for the second dish. he just shrugged his shoulders and said that's how it works. we eat out a lot and know whatgoodcustomer service is. this place is doomed if this is how they are training their managers and staff to treat customers. the food is notgoodenough to compensate for the nasty attitude. we live five minutes away and will not be going back.

gumbo. it had a verygoodroux base. full of seafood. large portion.

poor management. 5 days ago, i received a bad steak. it was cooked properly but you couldn't cut through it. i ate a couple of pieces and then i sent it back. it was during a birthday party celebration and i was willing to pay the $300 bill but i did not want to pay for the $22 steak. the manager kept insisting that it was "my opinion" that the steak was nogoodand refused to do anything. i told him that i was going to give him a negative review online, and what seemed like an eternity, he returned with the bill, finally agreeing to remove the steak charge. the waiter and service was good, but the manager was very unprofessional and i will not return to this location.

i've been going to chimes (both locations) for well over 10 years. the food has gotten soo bad, i've stopped going. the coursey location is the worst. it's totally hit or miss. i wish i could get the "good cook's" work schedule . . i'd only go on those days. i mean really, it's awful. i have tried pretty much everything on the menu and on agoodday it's damn good. but if you get the bad cook, you'll be highly disappointed.
