starting not to like. when this place first opened i was here almost every week. the boudin was the best and the food was good for the money. now it seems like they don't care and the food is hit and miss. waitresses have slight attitudes and there is always 6-10 girls at a hostess booth who will finish their conversation before they help you. i'll be headingbackto mike anderson's if it stays this way.

the management and staff has the worst attitude and very unprofessional!! i witness a racial act by a manager, which forced most african american to leave chimes on this particular day!!! the management put some african american couples on behalf of what the white person who started the commotion. other african american guest realized what the manager did, so they left!! the manager wentbackto the table and gave the white family a thumbs up!! plus, the wait was extremely long!!

we have tried the chimes east several times, just to make sure we were wrong with our impression. unfortunately we were not wrong. we would recommend the chargrilled oysters and there are a few other items on the menu are "okay" but just "okay" nothing to runbackfor. the wait staff is anything but friendly. we have encountered several wait staff that were at the rude level. we have gone as a couple and in a group and have had similar experiences. sorry chimes but you need to step up your game. too many places here to choose from to have rude staff and average food

rude and doomed. i agree with other reviewers that there is definitely a problem at this restaurant. five of us visited on a saturday night for a celebration. most of the food was ok but one dish (blackened chicken alfredo) tasted like nothing. no taste to the pasta or the blackened chicken. (my daughter likes things pretty mild but this was beyond.) we spoke to the waitress about it and she responded blankly saying there was nothing she could do about it except bring out some seasoning and see if that helped. she asked if we wanted to speak to the manager so we agreed. he was nothing short of rude. he offered no apology and gave us the same blank look. he said they could take itbackand bring something else out -- which they did, and charged us for it. on the way out i stopped at the hostess stand and told him i was disappointed in his attitude and that they charged for the second dish. he just shrugged his shoulders and said that's how it works. we eat out a lot and know what good customer service is. this place is doomed if this is how they are training their managers and staff to treat customers. the food is not good enough to compensate for the nasty attitude. we live five minutes away and will not be going back.

poor managent & bad service. made a reservation and it nearly took them an hour to get the tables ready. the host was rude from the start. it took too long to get our food and it was dry. there were many tables that were open, it wasn't "busy". the server would check on the table once until the complaint was filed. food was bland. the manager wouldn't takebackthe food in return, then was charging on someone else's card for something they didn't buy. the service was just horrible! my worst experience ever.

management should be reconsidered. last night, for my sisters birthday, a group of 9 plus myself chose to celebrate at chimes for the occasion. we arrive and are seated within 10-15 min, no complaint there. after being seated, the waiter immediately began taking drink orders, and when he got to me i ordered my drink and appetizer- spinach and artichoke dip with bowtie pasta (which i already knew i wanted because thats the only appetizer i ever get when going to chimes). drinks came quick, appetizers came shortly after. i took one bite of the appetizer and was immediately disgusted. i gave one to a friend and she said the same. in efforts to not have to return the appetizer, i took another bite, hoping that maybe it would taste different, unfortunately it did not, so i called my waiter and told him that i did not want the appetizer because of the taste. he asked if there was anything wrong with it and my exact words were 'it tastes nasty'. then he went on to try to persuade me to keep it or try something else, but i did not want to as that was the only appetizer that i wanted. so he went a told the manager, thats when things went south...quickly. before the manager gets there, though, he has time to take our dinner orders and i order the chimes boat load. after taking all orders, he leaves and the manager arrives shortly after and asks who had the dip and i responded. he too asked if there was anything wrong with the dip or pasta and again i reply 'it tastes nasty and i do not want it'. he tells me that i can order another appetizer, and i tell him that i do not want another appetizer. he again says 'well i can get you another appetizer' and i again say 'but i do not want another appetizer as that was the only appetizer i wanted here'. we gobackand forth with this 3 times, it had gotten to the point where everyone at the table stopped and was so astonished as to how rude he was being towards me. i asked him if it was chimes' policy that a refund cannot be given, even if the food is unsatisfactory, he tells me yes and in the rudest way tells me that 'we don't have to put it on the menu'. now, im pretty sure that he has gotten away with this on other occasions with many other people that do not know their rights, but i do and i requested to see the policy in their store that says that no refund can be given on food that is unsatisfactory and uneaten, he completely disregards my request. so now i'm really upset and tell him that he can cancel my chimes boat load. he then tells me that i would have to pay for the boat load too because i already ordered it. in what world does this guy live in?!!?. i tell him that the waiter just took our order not even 5min before he came to our table. i proceed to say that i do work for a law firm (wished i didn't even have to do that) and that i am well aware of my rights, and his response takes the cake 'i don't care that you work at a law firm, what does that mean'. i could have been petty and said 'yea, and you work at chimes fixing my food' but i didn't, i told him that i was not paying for anything when nothing was eaten. this manager was trying to make me pay for $40 worth of food that i did not eat or even get yet, now correct me if im wrong, but in the legal profession, that's stealing. so finally he takes the dip and leaves, but not before he tells me that i cannot order anything else lol, like i was going to anyway. the management experience there has cause myself and everyone that was at the table to agree to never go there again. i plan on taking this to his district manager and even headquarters, especially when i came here to give a review of my experience and saw how many people actually have negative experiences there and more than one with the manager, the person who is suppose to solve the problems, not create them. now i was going to pay for my meal as well as my sisters meal which would have ran me about $80-$90, so the main person losing out here is the waiter, he could have had a very nice tip from the 18% gratuity plus i was going to leave something additional because ive been a waitress and i know what its like, but he can thank his friendly chimes' management for that. my suggestion, fire the manager.

awful service and awful management. i ate at the chimes east with a group of people for lunch on monday. the server did not make a effort to find out information that i requested until i asked him to please ask if the item was no fat. i was the only lady at the table and he waited on everyone before me. my order was messed up with another order so he had to return the two dishesbackto swap the food. he then said he would bebackwith my mayonnaise which took hi, longer than it should have. he had the mayonnaise in a covered plastic container and throw it on the table and walked away. i called out asking if it was no or low fat and he said "no." he knew i did not want regular mayo and was not going to tell me. he never came to offer to fill up my glass of water. he was also serving another large party and other smaller tables not giving my party attention. i did not feel the service or food was with 18% gratuity tip. i told the waiter i did not leave the whole tip and he said fine. suddenly, a young girl came charging to my table and loudly drew attention to my ticket and money i front of my party. she was aggressive, anger and demanding. i was embarrassed and humiliated. i told her not to discuss this at the table in front of everyone. as i was getting up and before i could finish saying let us go to the register to discuss, she abruptly turned around and barged off saying she wii get the manager. i was following her and asked her to slow down because i did not know where she was going. i waited for the manager to come out of the kitchen. he was unfriendly, uncaring, uninterested, unprofessional and rude. he made judgmental and sarcastic faces at my explanation without an apology over $1.23. i later called to speak to another manager who was no better. all he was concerned about is why there is an18% gratuity tip not the inappropriate behavior or poor service. i called the chimes near l s u. the owner was not there so i was referred to a manager. he had the same closed mind attitude. he asked for my name. i thought he was going to offer a gift card to keep my business even though i would not accept one as that was not my intent nor was i going to go out of my way to go to either restaurant. he did not offer me anything. i told him i would never go eat at either chimes nor will i ever recommend this restaurant. these managers and employees do not have proper customer service, social etiquette or work ethics. i had an awful dining experience. very callous and selfish.

horrible manager. we had a great deal of goof-ups with our order, seating arrangements, lack of menu items, and the children being brought the wrong food. my husband wanted to speak to the manager. she walked away from him in mid-sentence. i called herbackand asked why. her response was that she didn't know what to say. i think as manager she should have know what to say. she trivialized everything as if it were no big deal. all that was lacking was an eye roll. we have eaten there often, with large parties, but never again. her lack of professionalism embarrassed our server as well. she found it hard to believe we were treated like that, and apologized for the managements behavior.

i already do not know how i feel about this restaurant anymore. first time i went there they had fabulous food and service, which was making me and my family keep on goingbackto this restaurant for special dinners. until the father's day in 2012 our food was not as great as it used to be, but we figured it might be the huge crowd they had. unfortunately this time the bad story kept going on. they changed their prices, and some of ways the dishes are served. for some reason the waitress cannot even fullfill any duty as a basic waitress.(unlike the past two were super professional). i do not know if there should be another try to this place.

goes beyond bar food. this place plays great music, has a laidbackatmosphere and has pretty excellent menu items. i've eaten there countless times and have never been let down.

the service at chimes was horrible. we did not get the extra lemons we asked for. my soup came out with no spoon. it took the waitress 15 minutes to come so i can ask for a spoon. my sister ordered soup and appetizer as her entree and the soup came out with no spoon again. how do you eat soup with a fork? we ordered two burgers at medium temperature and received 2 well done burgers. if you order sweet potatoes fries you will get regular fries. we couldn't find our waitress, emily, for 20 minutes, so we went to the hostess table to get assistance. boy, she surely came running when she must've thought we left without paying. i will not comebackhere.

never beenback. . .. what am i missing? i brought my mom there for dinner on her 87th birthday and almost nothing went right. 1st of all let me admit i did not know the place was so noisy, if i did i would have made another choice. but the reviews here at yahoo were so overpowering i thought i could not go wrong with this choice. wrong!

the service leading up the meal arriving at the table was fine, but after it did our waitress was nowhere in site. she did comebackto check on us about 15 minutes into the meal.

ah the meal, wife had shrimp and corn soup and liked it, the birthday girl had stuffed shrimp and also liked her entre even though she had to ask another waitress for some butter before her hush puppies went totally cold. we also had onion rings as a table appetizer, they were wonderful but the bad news started here. i had a $20.00 rib eye that was about 25% fat, and it was horrible. i usually do not send anythingbackto the kitchen; i just leave it on the plate and give the restaurant another try at a later date. but if my waitress would have given me an opportunity i would have sent this steakbackas it was that bad.

paid the bill, i always hand the waiter a card before they bring the check and tell them i am trying to save them some walking. i did at that time ask for a box to take the birthday girl's extra stuffed shrimp home. well 15 minutes and no sign of our waitress, she does show up after another 5 minutes to tell me their computer is down so they can't run the amex. i say no problem how much is the bill, i'll just write you a check, she laughs and says we do not take checks and walks away. now she has my amex card and i have been waiting for my check for one half hour and she is gone! another 10 minutes passes and she comesbackto inform me that the computer is still down and i will have to wait a little longer as they don't take checks, not laughing this time. it was then i ask for the manager, he comes to my table within about five minutes and ask me to wait a bit longer as he is trying to get the computer to run the card working. what he did not say was deafening, i.e., we apologize for the delay, can we buy you and your party a glass of wine or cocktail to make your wait more enjoyable? no there was never an offer of gratitude to their customer for patience, it was all about their problem.

at this time i informed him how i was going to handle this issue since we seemed to be at a stalemate and that was . . . . if the computer still did not work after another of his attempts his choices would be to give me my card and i will write him a check on a local bank (i live in br), or i will call amex and tell them chimes east is holding me and my card hostage until they get their computer up and running. if you have not guessed it by now i am no longer the happy guy i was when we sat down to my mom's birthday dinner nearly two hours ago. he reluctantly takes my check, what a nice guy, and i am on my way muttering things to myself like, never again, never again!

i am writing the manager of the chimes to see what kind of response i get, so i will revisit this post to do an update in an effort to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt.


* * * * update * * * * no reply from the manager of this restaurant regarding my letter of complaint. i guess they don't care.

unbelievably bad experience at chimes east tonight. 9 of us from work got together for dinner. i called ahead to chimes east to ask if any problem seating 9 for dinner at 6pm. told no. arrived at 6pm to find that no table available. staff could not tell us how long wait would be. after 30 minutes, i called walk on's and they said table was available there. went to walk on's and immediately seated. at 7:36 pm, got text from chimes east saying table ready. sentbacktext of empty plates from walk on's.

worth comingbackto. i have now been here twice, and had great meals. their beer selection is excellent, but pretty common by my standard, nonetheless i can always find something interesting to try. service is a strong suit, and the food is consistent.

i went into chimes and thought this place is very fun looking a good spot for a few friends to hang out! well my thoughts didn't match what happend to me! i went in and sat down and our server came up and asked us for drinks and i could help but be shocked by what she had on very short shorts and a chimes tee.. well it took maybe 10 mins to get a diet coke and water. then i ordered the crab cakes and my boyfriend jambalaya with catfish.. he said his was very good but mine wasn't to say the least.. i think of soft when i think of crab cakes and not deep fried with some very bland sause! i was not happy at all i let the server know and she went to get i would guess the kitchen mgr because he want very friendly or in the people pleaser mood! he told me that even though i didn't eat but one bite he couldn't take the crab cakes off my bill he just said " that's the way we make them " and asked me if i wanted to get something else and i said no and he said i had to get something because that's the way they did things! needles to say i will never gobackto this place! there are many other places i can spend my money for something i will eat and enjoy!
