what pizza means to you. i went to antico after seeing raving reviews in cl and many other sources.
the menu didn't have a ton of variety, but the ingredients they use are interesting and uncommonly used in atlanta pizza, and there are only a few ingredients across the menu, so i assume this helps with keeping all foods used very fresh. after ordering, they told me to take a seat, and i got confused. i only saw one table, but each chair had "do not sit on" written on it. once i realized there was a backroom, it became clear, but no employee motioned toward it or told me about it :\ the dining room is very casual and laid-back, which gave it a nice vibe.
the pizza was okay. pros: the ingredients were very fresh. the flavors of each individual ingredient were good and mixed well. cons: there wasn't much sauce, which disappointed me because i'm a saucy-pizza eater. the flavors weren't strong.
overall, i think how much you like antico depends on what you look for in pizza. for me, pizza is a comfort food, and i openly accept innovative toppings and concepts. antico provides freshness and a certain organicness where they take fresh, very italian ingredients, and they don't add much more than what is necessary in making something defined as a pizza. if you're into that bare-necessities kind of thing, this place is cool. personally, it wasn't really my slice of pie.
