we recently visited antico pizza after a suggestion from a friend of ours. while it is located in westernatlantanear other restaurant hot spots, it is somewhat off the beaten path giving it a hole-in-the-wall, down-home feel from the outside. the menu is strictly pizza but not your stereotypical american varieties. their pizzas are all unique but delicious. our pizza, topped with mushrooms and artichokes, was out of this world. no alcohol is served, but it is byob, so i recommend stopping by the grocery store and picking up your favorite brew beforehand. you can watch from your rudimentary wooden table and seats as your pizza made, but make no mistake, this is not a dirty, low-class pizza joint. it has a great atmosphere complimented by classy italian music. the service was fast, polite, and seemed to really enjoy their work. i recommend getting there early as they close when they run out of dough. overall, we were extremely satisfied with our experience and will definitely be returning.

had the chance of eating at this little gem while visitingatlantafor some baseball games.  we visited the battery location which was just perfect!  we sat at the outside bar area because the weather was so perfect that day!  food and service was excellent!  we shared the napoletana pizza which was amazing!  we had never had broccoli on pizza before and it is definitely something that will be revisited because it was delicious!  great atmosphere also and we will definitely be back!

probably the best i have had in my life! casual ambiance with a short and crisp menu. love the huge brick oven in the center. i ordered the margherita with some pepperoni on top. hand stretched fresh dough , especially imported from italy, and then topped with the tomato sauce, basil leaves, garlic, pepperoni and mozzarella. loved the simple flavors and the texture of the base crisp from the outside and then nice and soft at the center was pretty amazing! when inatlantathis place is a must must try!

best pizza inatlantajust ahead of amazza and varuni napoli. it is a relaxed and lively atmosphere where you share tables with your fellow patrons. the option to byob is awesome. the best pizza in my opinon is the diavolo. spicy and meaty and overall perfect. best part is you can go next door and get the best italian roasted chicken next door at gios. can't recommend it enough.

decent pizza, terrible customer service. i've eaten here a few times, the pizza is mostly good if you're looking for something better than a pizzahut or other low end pizza. the problem here though isn't the pizza, it's the customer service. i know this isatlantabut still, the employees largely treat you as well as a walmart employee would. of they can fix that glaring issue i think they have great potential.

fantastic!. i have always been told that when i visitatlantathat i need to try antico pizza and it didn't disappoint. this location is situated right next to georgia tech university. i have to say that this is some pretty authentic neapolitan pizza. i ordered the san genero and found the combination of the san marzano-based sauce, the sausage and the red peppers to be pretty flavorful. the dining area is located next to the kitchen where you can watch the cooks work away as you listen to italian music. a great find and it met all my expectations.

i’ve heard rave reviews about antico pizza for years. and despite visitingatlantaon a regular basis for the past few years, i’d never been there until our most recent trip, which included spending a day in atlanta. i think i first learned about antico by following david o’brien, who covers theatlantabraves for theatlantajournal constitution and regularly gives out advice for folks who are visiting the city to attend a game. when people ask him about places to eat before or after seeing the braves, antico pizza always seems to be his top pick. along with o’brien’s recommendation, i’ve talked to locals who swear by antico’s pizza and the restaurant regularly finds itself on lists of the best pizza places in america, including this list from eater of the 38 essential pizzerias across america. the south may not be known for great pizza, but everyone seems to agree that antico pizza isn’t an ordinary pizza place. it’s located between the georgia te

overhype!!. i've read a lot about this place as antico has become one of the local media darlings within theatlantafood scene. went here with my wife and one of my kids on a saturday arriving to a full parking lot at about 12:10 pm. after finding a spot, we walked into a packed full place. the place is quite small and it was certainly standing room only. it was clear we weren't going to get a seat, but since we were here we were all game on trying the pizza so we ordered one to go. i wanted to order a simple pepperoni and sausage (due to child's palate) but they refused without reason, only saying in soup nazi fashion "one meat per pizza!" - i assumed that perhaps they felt more than one meat might make the pizza too greasy. i'll buy that train of thought, but i don't know since i didn't get a clear answer from them. so i ordered a margherita with pepperoni, which they allowed me to do. pizza was a pricey $23. ordered 3 cokes as well - stay clear of these! it will set you back $2.75 each for a cute, little 8.5 oz bottle of coke. so we stood in a standing room only place, filled mainly with 20 somethings, whom likely for many were ready and willing to add antico to their already bulging credit card statements. our number is called quickly (it only takes 60 seconds for their pizzas to cook) and out the door we go, walking out with pizza raised above my head so that i could get out the door. at this point, we are still very optimistic about the pizza we are about to eat. opening the pizza box on the trunk of the car, standing up in the parking lot, we dive into the pizza. the pizza had good flavor, but not great flavor. the pepperoni (admittedly our choice) made it quite greasy. the pizza also could have been cooked another 15 seconds as the crust was just starting to tan. overall, i would give the following ratings: pizza flavor: average, experience: below average, prices/value: ridiculously high. it is always interesting to me how hype and trends blossom. i believe that many times people jump on board because they want to be with the latest trend and don't want to be on the outside looking in. but why convince yourself something is great when it really isn't? it's all about personal preference, but many people so often get caught up in hype (pet rock anyone?). and with most overhyped food establishments, like this one, i don't get it. and in the end, i don't care either. let those spend their money where they want. i'll continue to follow flavor and experience by voting with my wallet.

great pizza (for those who are gainfully employed). 32 dollars for a pepperoni pizza and two cokes, not complaining just recounting. the pizza was great with soft dough that almost tasted like a pastry, but not overly dulcifying. the tomato sauce was zesty and the pepperoni abounded in the perfect amount of mozzarella. my only complaint was by the sixth piece (yes, i had the lion's share) the olive oil became palpably too generous. i enjoyed the industrial feel of the dining area juxtaposed to the freezer and wood ovens. everyone inatlantashould try it once and there will be plenty who return multiple times.

what pizza means to you. i went to antico after seeing raving reviews in cl and many other sources.
the menu didn't have a ton of variety, but the ingredients they use are interesting and uncommonly used inatlantapizza, and there are only a few ingredients across the menu, so i assume this helps with keeping all foods used very fresh. after ordering, they told me to take a seat, and i got confused. i only saw one table, but each chair had "do not sit on" written on it. once i realized there was a backroom, it became clear, but no employee motioned toward it or told me about it :\ the dining room is very casual and laid-back, which gave it a nice vibe.
the pizza was okay. pros: the ingredients were very fresh. the flavors of each individual ingredient were good and mixed well. cons: there wasn't much sauce, which disappointed me because i'm a saucy-pizza eater. the flavors weren't strong.
overall, i think how much you like antico depends on what you look for in pizza. for me, pizza is a comfort food, and i openly accept innovative toppings and concepts. antico provides freshness and a certain organicness where they take fresh, very italian ingredients, and they don't add much more than what is necessary in making something defined as a pizza. if you're into that bare-necessities kind of thing, this place is cool. personally, it wasn't really my slice of pie.

charred pizza crust is what people are raving about?!?!. i brought a pie home, tried to eat it, and couldn't get the burnt taste out of my mouth! i called, asked if "burnt/charred" crust is the style they make it in, and they said to just come back and talk to gio the owner. i did and then looked around and everyone's pizza was cooked like that with burnt outer crust and bottoms. they were all nice and they made another a pie, although i said that is the style and their is no need. i wanted to pay for just what i tried to eat and have them refund the rest. i knew the second would be the same, and it was. i could sense this was not even close to the first time they went through this. the place is great for people who are used to eating food burnt (not cooked) buy their mom or dad, or both, their whole life. gio is ingenious because he knows hisatlantayuppie, horrible taste bud, burnt food liking crowd! cheers to a very smart and calculated set up and to a man who knows that white, middle america has horrendous taste in food . he makes a thriving business on it and this is the essence of american opportunity. or, as p.t. barnum said it best, "there's a sucker born every minute!" on a positive note, the place and atmosphere is great and the pizza probably would be amazing if they simply scrapped the ovens clean through out the day of all that char like 99.9% of good pizzerias do. but then they would lose their crowd, i'm guessing.
