it was really cool watching the guys make the pizza.  you could see them from your seat.  they threw the dough up super-high in the air.  when you got your pizza, you didn't get forks or plates!  you had toeatoff a napkin.  it was awesome!  the pizza was really good, too.  this place might be my all-time favorite if my parents could order something normal like cheese or pepperoni.

dont waste your time...far better pizza in atlanta. this place is way overrated. went here with the hubby on a saturday night to try it out and had high hopes when we saw the number of people lined up to get in...so many people that there were no seats left in the 20 seat dinning room. we got to the counter and quickly discovered that you have to choose from the menu as they only make the pizzas their way and only one size - um ok- weird. we chose one, waited and out came this medium/small pizza that we had to take out andeatin the car as there were no seats left in the 20 seat dinning room. the pizza was just mediocre at best and certainly not worth the money spent on it. go to oz pizza or felini's pizza for a better dining experience and pie!

i’ve heard rave reviews about antico pizza for years. and despite visiting atlanta on a regular basis for the past few years, i’d never been there until our most recent trip, which included spending a day in atlanta. i think i first learned about antico by following david o’brien, who covers the atlanta braves for the atlanta journal constitution and regularly gives out advice for folks who are visiting the city to attend a game. when people ask him about places toeatbefore or after seeing the braves, antico pizza always seems to be his top pick. along with o’brien’s recommendation, i’ve talked to locals who swear by antico’s pizza and the restaurant regularly finds itself on lists of the best pizza places in america, including this list from eater of the 38 essential pizzerias across america. the south may not be known for great pizza, but everyone seems to agree that antico pizza isn’t an ordinary pizza place. it’s located between the georgia te

bad pizza. first timer and unfortunately last timer. heard so much about how good this place is, but alas mine came out with a completely burnt crust. i should have checked it before walking out, but it was really busy and i was in a hurry. tried toeata slice since i'd just paid $25 for the pie, but the taste was so bitter from the char it stayed in my mouth for hours. yuck! i'd understand if it was a mistake, but the crust was burnt on top. they knew when they put it out there that it was burnt and still served it.

disappointing date night. my husband and i decided to finally try antico pizza after hearing rave reviews about their "amazing" pizza from several atlantans.

we made it an early date night as we've also heard it gets super packed and there is limited seating. we got there around 4:30 only to be greeted by two very cold and rushed cashiers. i had no idea what anything on the menu meant (all in italian), so when i asked the cashier about what one of the toppings written out meant, she rudely snapped at me and hurried me into ordering. there were only two people behind me, and she definitely had time to explain especially if i am about to pay $22 for a pizza! she handed me two cups and before i could turn and ask her where the water was, she was already coldly rushing the next guest.

my husband and i sat down and our pizza came out minutes later- on a pan...which we needed toeatover because they didn't serve plates. are we dogs? we went in search for the water only to discover it's at a sink on the wall, where you wash your hands. the pizza was not bad but definitely not worth the money. we were there all of 20 minutes because we felt so rushed and unwelcomed.

let's just say we will be date nighting elsewhere moving forward!

i really don't get the hype about this place, pizza its good but not the best you will ever have. im all about the experience and this place gets a 0 in that aspect. maybe if you are a college student or if maybe you just go get drunk andeatwith a bunch of ppl and take a whole table or perhaps if you are a cool hipster that enjoys elbowing with strangers while having dinner... this place is not for everybody! maybe on a tuesday night when its not so packed but we went on a friday night and the bigger diner room was so packed and loud i couldn't even try to look for a seat it was so overwhelming. if your are more about the experience when dining out don't go here, unless u r looking for a hippie experience or carrying out.

antico napoletana pizza dishes out tasty, authentic napoletani pies to atlanta, according to others. i have never gone to italy before, let alone eaten their pizzas, and thus cannot confirm that claim. however, i can tell you that these pizzas are seriously delicious and worth the money. fortunately, the high price, attributed to the fresh, italy-imported ingredients, keeps my desire to come here weekly in check. however, i think my wallet can handle my coming here once every two-three weeks, though. fast, hot, delicious, and fresh – if you haven’t visited this pizzeria yet, stop waiting for an invitation. drive over, order one, eatit, relish it – you’ll thank me.

not sure why this place is under the "bargain gem" category, there is nothing bargain about $22 for a pizza with just tomatoe sauce and cheese on it. the taste is 90% authentic, great dough and tomato sauce, the mozzarella is described as "mozzarella di buffala" but it is definately not. i've been to naples and had mozzarella buffala, and the taste is impeccable and unique, the mozzarella served on the pizza here is good and better than most for american standards, but they are fooling you with the claim of mozzarella di buffala. the byob aspect is very cool, and you will definately want it if you are stuck without a table and forced to stand andeatlike i was. the place is very popular and always crowded, but it can be its downfall as there are not always enough places to sit, so you are forced to stand andeator let your pizza get cold. seating is family style, aka seated at large tables next to strangers. all and all it was a good place to eat, just bothered by not being able to sit and high price, and misadvertizied menu. would recommend to others and it is certainly the best and most authentic italian pizza in town, but me and my girlfriend (who is from milan,it) were not overly impressed. but we're pizza snobs so, just go and judge for yourself.

amazing. seriously.. i have only been once, but that's all i need. the prices are a little high, but the pizza is so worth it. friends who have visited italy can attest to the fact that this pizza is as close as you can get without flying across the pond. the pizzas come out bubbling hot in 5-10 minutes tops and youeatoff a large baking sheet with paper towels at your disposal. there are no plates. the sausage and sweet pepper pizza is amazing. don't skip this one.

charred pizza crust is what people are raving about?!?!. i brought a pie home, tried toeatit, and couldn't get the burnt taste out of my mouth! i called, asked if "burnt/charred" crust is the style they make it in, and they said to just come back and talk to gio the owner. i did and then looked around and everyone's pizza was cooked like that with burnt outer crust and bottoms. they were all nice and they made another a pie, although i said that is the style and their is no need. i wanted to pay for just what i tried toeatand have them refund the rest. i knew the second would be the same, and it was. i could sense this was not even close to the first time they went through this. the place is great for people who are used to eating food burnt (not cooked) buy their mom or dad, or both, their whole life. gio is ingenious because he knows his atlanta yuppie, horrible taste bud, burnt food liking crowd! cheers to a very smart and calculated set up and to a man who knows that white, middle america has horrendous taste in food . he makes a thriving business on it and this is the essence of american opportunity. or, as p.t. barnum said it best, "there's a sucker born every minute!" on a positive note, the place and atmosphere is great and the pizza probably would be amazing if they simply scrapped the ovens clean through out the day of all that char like 99.9% of good pizzerias do. but then they would lose their crowd, i'm guessing.

a product of hype overload. we had the capriciosa, one of my favourites. i consider myself a bit of a pizza connoisseur, indulging in many pizzas everytime i visit italy.

the pizza was $20, a tad on the steep side for the production line.

we tried to find a place to sit but the seating area was fully occupied. the pizza arrived with a waiter calling out the receipt number. i was passed a large aluminim tray with the pizza on it and nowhere to sit. not a good situation.

eventually we found a bit of shelving facing the wall and took the tray there. luckily two stools were there but unfortunately they were different heights. it was pointless trying to find a place to sit, other people were also 'hawking' for spaces and when people flinched to get up there seemed to be a feverish rush to grab the seats.

so $20 to fight for a seat, no thanks.

as for the pizza.... the favour was pleasant but not exceptional. for those that have rated the pizza, perhaps they are used to fast food crap and probably haven't eaten 'real' pizza in italy etc.

the tomato sauce was good, as was the cheese. the artichokes must have been on the list of rations and the mushrooms must have been out of a packet, or not great quality (they didnt have flavour or texture, perhaps not fresh?).

the distribution of the ingredients was all in the middle, so the outside of the pizza was just a band of tomato. nice way to be cheap. the cheese was thrown in a few blobs. yep, nice way to be cheap.

the crusts were black, burnt and literally charcoal like. you couldn'teatthem.

worse of all the middle was soggy, dripping, wet. no way should a pizza be sodden in the middle.

so overall, well we tried it and it was ok. some ingredients were flavorsome but on the whole it was way below par,... and waaaay below the hype that surrounded it.

sorry, but it may have been embellished with links to bella napoli, but i'm afraid you have let the side down.

un vero peccato - a real pity.....
