you have to be a flaming moron to not enjoy this place. from the fresh baked smell that welcomes you at the door, to the friendly service, to the food - you can't go wrong here. there's plenty of "down" time when there's no wait - so if there is a line out the door is just come another time. i had the 10oz steak and it more than met my expectations. do not leave without a ted's tart - even if you're too full and must take it to go. i challenge you to find a homemade pop tart any where else.

fun family atmosphere with retro tv shows like i love lucy playing on silent screens. the food was all wonderful. the braised pot roast is incredible. parmesan chicken is delicious and enough to feed two people. chocolate cake is huge and moist and oh so chocolatey. we also shared a chocolate peppermint milkshake that i'll be craving for weeks. we can't wait to return!

... it was the best cobb salad i've ever consumed. the ty cobb was topped with fried chicken, diced tomatoes, slices of avocado, eggs, bacon and dressed with creamy vidalia bacon ranch

just stopped by to get some coveted pop tarts. no one would even look at us to take our order. had to ask hostess to find someone to take order. poptarts a big let down...tasted like the store bought one with slightly more filling. twinkie was not bad but no cream inside only on top. i was really looking forward to going here...sorry to have had a bad experience.

excellent experience!!. this place is great! the food is homemade and the portions generous. the menu is not extensive, but there is plenty to choose from especially with breakfast being served all day. on the downside, the dining room is noisy. it’s an open space with about 30 booths, so there is nothing to stop or deaden the sound. if you are looking for a quiet intimate experience, look elsewhere. i feel compelled to address the poptarts since it’s a signature item. they are more-so filled rich shortbread cookies than the traditional poptart. that’s not necessarily a bad thing considering it’s a delicious huge filled cookie...it’s not a poptart.

cosy casual meal

saw the reviews for this place and booked. would not realise restaurant was there if not told as the front looks like a cafe and the restaurant is in the back. the waiter was friendly and engaging and the place was full with couples and families. i had the cob salad which was huge but tasty and my husband had the meatloaf. meals were reasonably priced. this is a great place to go for a casual meal.

plenty of food and it was very good. the pop tarts are homemade and extremely good. we had brunch on a saturday and it was very crowded, so plan accordingly.

interesting little hole in the wall diner. nice decor and over all clean. had the patty melt and it was good. quick seating and service even during lunch hour. full coffee bar access is nice. if you have time, it is worth a stop.

came here for brunch and was not disappointed. the nutty professor milkshake was so good. the nostalgia that’s brought on by the decor from the tables to the chairs is also exciting. the crab cake egg benedict was well made and the hash browns tasted like pure butter. may not have been the healthiest brunch but it was good.

fresh poptarts and one of the most authentic american restaurants in dc. everything is freshly made in the morning and smells heavenly. definitely worth a try if you're in the district.

the food was good, but thought it came out pretty quick, making me wonder if a lot of it is pre prepared. it didn't taste like it was, being pretty good and giving the feeling of home cooked.

the beer selection was sparse, but fortunately i did like one of the 2 on draft.

the best part came to the desserts, which we got milkshakes. the black and white was the best i've ever had...and that's saying a lot as i've tested a lot!

the staff was courteous and efficient, so fine marks there.

the atmosphere within ted's is very nice and refined with the bakery and desserts in the front and the tables in the back. it feels very refined, but still ok to bring our younger kinds that are under 3.

the service was very helpful, nice, and attentive.

the food was pretty good - i got a burger and shake. the burger was decent and the shake was good with a large portion. however, i was expecting a bit more out of an $8 shake - it had good flavor, but seemed more smoothie/fruit than ice cream and shake.

i would echo an earlier reviewer that said the restaurant was good, but not necessarily in the top 20 of d.c.

overall, i would still recommend the reseteaurant to a friend.
