if you like your burger big and juicy with a toasted bun and savory fixings, this place is for you. two burgers are named after president obama and first lady michelle, maybe because this is a favorite of theirs.  their fries have rosemary on them which you'll either like, or not; no one's in between. (they come without the herb as well).  shakes are thick and sinful, a young person's delight.  with fries, and a drink, you'll pay about $15; or $7-$9 for the burger by itself.  music is too loud for me,  but others seem not to notice.  it's always packed, but large enough you'll find a seat either upstairs or outside. try it, you'll be back.

the ambience and food were exceptional. the wait was almost unbearable. call ahead!!! since there were no seats, we stood around for an hour and enjoyed some drinks (nonalcoholic since they can't serve alcohol before 11am - argh!) while we waited. my son said the oreo shake was the best that he's ever had!

the portions were huge! wished we would have tried the ted's tart, but our meals didn't come with it and we were just too full to order one.

sadly we didn't get to eat here while visiting but we managed to stop in and get a teds tart. it was delicious! i hate pop tarts and these just aren't even in the same category. if you need a quick treat, go get one.

fun comfortable place to eat. servers welcome you the moment you enter and treat you as friends for your entire stay.

the breakfast menu is extensive and delicious. you have to have a tart if this is your first visit.

restaurant and bakery stop. the good thing about this place is you can just swing by and take some baked treats to go or sit down for a meal. i swung by and picked up the salted caramel and brown sugar pop tarts. was it tasty? yes. did it give me a glimpse into what a non-processed breakfast classic should be? yes. was it spectacular? not so much. i probably wouldn't get it again but would recommend others to give it a try. it's at least an interesting thing to try.

wow - my new favorite dc area breakfast restaurant!!
had a bit of a wait at 945 saturday morning but this is expected.
atmosphere is a modern tribute to a rustic 30's theme.
service was professional with a smile!!
food - nana's beer biscuits and gravy are worth every delicious calorie!!
coffee - they left a carafe of wonderful hot bold coffee on the table - yes the way it should be served.
drawbacks - tiny bit loud but so what!!
this place is the best breakfast restaurant in dc & i will be back!!!

clever art deco and a fun take on classic american. grade: b+

ted's bulletin grabbed our attention from the outside. the menu in the window in this mosaic district eatery was filled with traditional american favorites presented with a playful twist, such as homemade pop tarts, a menu full of milkshakes, and a sunday pasta special with "meatballs as big as your head".
booths are spacious and offer a bit of privacy, although there is a bit of a din that can make it a bit hard to hear. art deco lamps and pseudo-antique tvs on the wall - complete with foil-wrapped bunny ear antennas - add to the appealing style of the interior.
everything looks potentially good, from the anytime breakfast choices to sandwiches, salads, and entrees. nightly specials include pot pie (monday), tv dinner (thursday), prime rib (friday-saturday), and family style pasta on sunday. the salad dressing choices include the old school classic, a creamy garlic and herb green goddess.
the pasta special was a huge bowl with huge, moist meatballs that include italian sausage, overcooked spaghetti and a good red sauce, and thick pieces of garlic toast.
most pleasantly surprisingly was the reasonable, non-dc prices. we loved ted's and can't wait to try them for breakfast.

i opened my eyes and stared at the ceiling of the hotel room.  in my early morning pre-coffee grogginess one thought immediately entered my mind, homemade pop tarts. i showered, drafted mason as a dining companion, and left the girls to lazily lounger about while we caught a cab to ted’s bulletin. the restaurant is located near capitol hill at 508 8th street se, and after handing the cabbie the fare we entered the bricked fronted building.  the restaurant is divided into two sections, the front bar areas had a couple of small tables anchored against the wall.  past the hostess stand and through a doorway was the main dining room.  behind this was the kitchen.  i loved the art deco style of the restaurant and learned it had been constructed of pieces salvaged from the old philadelphia convention and civic center that was built in the 1930s. as atmosphere goes, ted’s was top notch. we took a seat at a table for two towards the front of the restaurant.  the bartender came over, introduced

while the ‘big ohh’ aka the orange and sassafras soda is the crowd fav, the pineapple is definitely not to be missed. next time you find yourself perusing union market, stop by buffalo & bergen for a refreshing pineapple pop.

fun, quality but casual. the first thing i heard about ted's was that the wait is very long, but we went around 9:30 am on sunday, put our names in, were told 30 minutes, and went to get coffee until they texted us that the table was almost ready, 20 minutes later. not bad. the rush hit shortly after that. what's important is that the food and service were great. those specialty pop tarts are a fun treat, the greek yogurt is an awesome fresh fruit parfait, the omelet was yummy, and all the ingredients were fresh and good quality. definitely recommend.
