the food was good, but thought it came out pretty quick, making me wonder if a lot of it is pre prepared. it didn't taste like it was, being prettygoodand giving the feeling of home cooked.

the beer selection was sparse, but fortunately i did like one of the 2 on draft.

the best part came to the desserts, which we got milkshakes. the black and white was the best i've ever had...and that's saying a lot as i've tested a lot!

the staff was courteous and efficient, so fine marks there.

the atmosphere within ted's is very nice and refined with the bakery and desserts in the front and the tables in the back. it feels very refined, but still ok to bring our younger kinds that are under 3.

the service was very helpful, nice, and attentive.

the food was prettygood- i got a burger and shake. the burger was decent and the shake wasgoodwith a large portion. however, i was expecting a bit more out of an $8 shake - it hadgoodflavor, but seemed more smoothie/fruit than ice cream and shake.

i would echo an earlier reviewer that said the restaurant was good, but not necessarily in the top 20 of d.c.

overall, i would still recommend the reseteaurant to a friend.

restaurant and bakery stop. thegoodthing about this place is you can just swing by and take some baked treats to go or sit down for a meal. i swung by and picked up the salted caramel and brown sugar pop tarts. was it tasty? yes. did it give me a glimpse into what a non-processed breakfast classic should be? yes. was it spectacular? not so much. i probably wouldn't get it again but would recommend others to give it a try. it's at least an interesting thing to try.

clever art deco and a fun take on classic american. grade: b+

ted's bulletin grabbed our attention from the outside. the menu in the window in this mosaic district eatery was filled with traditional american favorites presented with a playful twist, such as homemade pop tarts, a menu full of milkshakes, and a sunday pasta special with "meatballs as big as your head".
booths are spacious and offer a bit of privacy, although there is a bit of a din that can make it a bit hard to hear. art deco lamps and pseudo-antique tvs on the wall - complete with foil-wrapped bunny ear antennas - add to the appealing style of the interior.
everything looks potentially good, from the anytime breakfast choices to sandwiches, salads, and entrees. nightly specials include pot pie (monday), tv dinner (thursday), prime rib (friday-saturday), and family style pasta on sunday. the salad dressing choices include the old school classic, a creamy garlic and herb green goddess.
the pasta special was a huge bowl with huge, moist meatballs that include italian sausage, overcooked spaghetti and agoodred sauce, and thick pieces of garlic toast.
most pleasantly surprisingly was the reasonable, non-dc prices. we loved ted's and can't wait to try them for breakfast.

fun, quality but casual. the first thing i heard about ted's was that the wait is very long, but we went around 9:30 am on sunday, put our names in, were told 30 minutes, and went to get coffee until they texted us that the table was almost ready, 20 minutes later. not bad. the rush hit shortly after that. what's important is that the food and service were great. those specialty pop tarts are a fun treat, the greek yogurt is an awesome fresh fruit parfait, the omelet was yummy, and all the ingredients were fresh andgoodquality. definitely recommend.

undercooked doughnut. i bought a few things for the office. just started into the doughnut i bought this morning from the new ted's bulletin on 14th street. doughy, undercooked doughnut. also someone cut a piece of the peanut butter bacon poptart and it had no filling. they had to keep cutting until they got the peanut butter. gotta keep the quality up ted's. it's not lookinggoodso far.

"family" restaurant. don't be fooled by the sign on the door - this is a family restaurant in the loosest sense of the word. we were visiting d.c from kansas city and staying in the eastern market neighborhood. we realized quickly that this was an area where most restaurants catered for couples - not a huge surprise given the demographics of the area. so we sought out a restaurant that would suit our family, three kids aged 6, 4 & 2. we had walked past ted's bulletin the previous night and thought that it looked great. the cautious father in me decided to call in advance (at 6:30pm on a sunday night) to confirm if a) they have a kids menu as this can't be seen on their website despite the adult menu being visible and b) if it was necessary to book a table as kids under 7 generally don't have the patience to wait for a table when they're tired and hungry. i was assured that there was a kids menu and that there was no need to book a table given we planned to arrive within the next hour. we walked in 40 mins later and stood in the front bar area for 10 mins expecting at least an acknowledgement from the bar staff or perhaps a host. instead, we waited in no mans land in the middle of the front dining room behind what may have been a line for the main dining room or just a few people waiting for friends. after ten minutes and no sign of any service, we jumped when a kind chap and his kids vacated table nearby and suggested that we take it. unsure if we needed to be seated, we decided to accept given there was no discernible line and the hosts were apparently m.i.a. we started to clear the used plates to one side and after another 10 minutes a server appeared. he asked if we had been seated by a host to which i responded "we haven't laid eyes on a host for 20 minutes we've been in here". he refused to serve us until we checked in with the hosts in the next room. i complied to be told there would be a 50 min wait for a table. so maybe we were unlucky to hit an unexpected influx of customers, or maybe the staff are just incompetent. my gut feeling is the latter.goodluck.

good food andgoodservice. i was looking for something unique near the hill and this was agoodrecommendation. the chicken fried steak was great but the line of adult milkshakes and homemade pop-tarts sealed it for me.

news! news! we love ted's!. wow. just wow. from the miraculous interior salvaged from a philadelphia civic center, to the great diner-ware, to the fabulously friendly service, ted's bulletin seduced us in short order. pancakes weregood(if a little chewy--don't overwork the batter, ok?), the sausage was amazing (sweet, then really spicy, then mmmmmm), and the hashbrowns shockingly crunchy and creamy at the same time. wondrous.

the only complaint: the biscuits and the homemade poptarts were bone dry, stealing most of the anticipated enjoyment from them. i know the biscuits went with the sausage gravy (nice!) but they were dry like the sahara and about as absorbant as linoleum. it was ok but with a serving of 4 biscuits--oooof--it was too much dryness. same with the poptarts: crumbly, not flaky; granular, not pastry-like.

small, tiny, minor issues: this place knows exactly who it is and its clientele. we plan on coming back!

there are some places you go to because the food isgoodand others that you tolerate because you like the atmosphere of the place. at ted's bulletin , i'm happy to report that you can getgoodfood in an irresistibly adorable olde timey atmosphere. ted's is the comfort food purveying cousin to matchbox and dc-3 , and everything about the place screams old fashioned comfort, including the baker making fresh "pop tarts" in the front window... and the fixtures reclaimed from the old philadelphia civic center. it's undeniably adorable and unlike any place we've been in dc. with this much atmosphere, it wouldn't be a surprise if the food didn't measure up. however, we found ted's menu of comfort food classics (and a few original twists) to be worthy of a return visit. i could drink an unsafe amount of their "adult" milkshakes spiked with alcohol. indulge in a boozy grasshopper (mint) shake or a creamy white russian. if you don't wish to imbibe, ted's serves non-alcoholic classic shakes too
