love the pastries!. my thirdtimeat art is in bakery, and it is never a disappointment...our favourites are the cinnamon donut holes and kronuts, as well as the almond croissants...yes, it can be a little pricey and adds up quickly, but everything is so yummy and baked fresh. a quaint little place and a little hidden treasure!

too expensive and very slow servers. a group of 8 go out for breakfast every 6 weeks. i ordered an egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and herbal tea. the bill came to over $10.00. the sandwich arrived cold after 20 minutes. the water for the tea was luke warm. the other 5 people waited for another 15 to 20 minute. still no food. one person went to find out what was going on. she was told the food would arrive shortly. the food finally arrived with no cutlery which was added after another delay. one person inquired about her coffee 3 times before it finally arrived at the table. we meet on tuesday mornings. there were very few people in the bakery at thattimeon tuesday morning. someone tell me what is the appeal of being served cold and expensive food under the guise of being hip and healthy.? there are other places way better than this place serving healthy breakfasts. we won't be going back.

not worth it. i've been here multiple times, and everytimewas an unpleasant experience. the food is decent, but not worth the unpleasantness of the actual location.
not only that, but the service is terrible.
don't go, it's really, really not worth it

super delicious sandwiches. are they expensive? yes. are they overpriced? if it were for the quality of the sandwich alone, i would say no. however, considering the fact that you will likely have to wait more than 20 minutes for a salad, and that your chances of getting a relatively friendly staff member to take/give you your order are about 50/50, yes. they are overpriced. i can get sandwiches that are just as good without the hefty price tag, long wait and shitty attitude. it took me a long time  to decide this (because that's how delicious the sandwiches are) but i'm not going back (because that's how bad the service is).

good food, rude service. even if this place is overrated, i do like their pastries and bread. however, it's overpriced and staff is most of thetimerude. they are always sold out of many of the menu items.

get the burger! or anything with the jalapeño cheddar bread. if i want to impress someone who’s new to ottawa or visiting, i bring them to this place. it’s not easy on your diet or your wallet but worth the cheat day by far! i’ve been on multiple occasions and have been consistently satisfied. i struggled with what i’ll have eachtimeas i can get caught in wanting what i’ve already had and trying something else that sounds delicious. when gametimecomes, i usually have whatever sandwich that comes in the jalapeño cheddar bread (usually it’s the chicken caesar sandy). i never regret that decision!

no inventory, staff not pleasant. we just left from this place and i have to say i am very disappointed. we saw art is in featured on a tv show and were very excited to try it.

there was a line when we (4 of us) got there around 2:45 pm - not a huge line though. the menu showed that 2 items were sold out. unfortunately, one of which was the pickle sandwich featured on the show that i really wanted to try. the cashier explained that they don't make it on the weekend. really?! strange but whatever. i'll try something else.

i picked the chicken caesar, my 2 kids the angus sandwich. they let us know there was only one half of an angus left. one of my kids then chose the chicken caesar while the cashier was going to go "check if they still actually had the angus left." nope, no angus so he chose the grilled cheese.

we place the rest of our order, then paid, and got seated. a few minutes later, a waitress comes and tells us there is no chicken caesar left. only 3 sandwiches are left, out of about 8-10. they ask us if we want to substitute for the grilled cheese. ummm no. i just paid over $12 for chicken caesar, i'm not accepting an $8 grilled cheese.

we ended up canceling our whole order and leaving hungry! the staff gave us a hardtimeabout canceling our whole order but really, why would we stay when we can't get our 1st, 2nd, 3rd choices?! totally disappointing experience. :(

food is over complicated. taste is good, however the chef seems immature in his cooking style as he tried to do too much and it comes off as insecure. perhaps separate pastry and food chefs would be in order. service was slow and discombobulated. nothing arrived at the sametimeand much of it was cold. my friend's thai chicken sandwich had very undercooked chicken. i am fairly sure nothing was local or organic or particularly artisanal other than bing house made. i was over sold and not quite impressed. i would not recommend.

i had the most amazing breakfast at art is in. it was my firsttimethere and can be confusing if you aren't expecting the atmosphere. large, open, industrial area with cafeteria style / coffee house seating. order, grab your table number and find a seat. the servers will bring your food to you.
i had the french toast stack, which was tall n tasty. with a couple eggs cooked perfectly (a quick a tap and the yolk pours down the toast). the bacon and cheese added the savory to the sweet of the toast and maple syrup.

they brew an excellent coffee there too.

the food is decent but half thetimei go they are sold out of just about every item and the prices are quite high. people with money live in the area and think it's the cats ass but it's just average. to say it's amazing is nothing more than a lie.

what happened !!!???!!!. beyond disappointed!!!

i have family that comes into town from out west once a year, for a month, and this is one of the first places they asked to go based on their experience last summer. after today's experience they said they never want to go back! what a shame!!

i have been a fan for a couple of years and used to frequent the restaurant weekly, i was probably one of your best free marketing tools and used to rave about you to anyone that would listen. now, i am not sure i will ever go back either. if i do, it will be a rarity.

our experience today:
we arrived for a late lunch and the staff was rude and seemed not to care about the customer at all. i inquired about the monday soup and sandwich offer and the staff didn't even know if it is still offered and said there was no one in the restaurant to even ask about it. strike one!

we ordered a variety of things to share amongst 4 of us and the only decent thing was the ham and cheese sandwich. we ordered pulled pork mac & cheese which was good but... for the 14.00 we paid, it certainly was not worth it! it was a very small portion, with croutons on top to make it seem like its a bigger portion than it actually is and there was barely any pulled pork! strike two!

next, we ordered a vegetarian quiche with salad for $12.00. the quiche was so small i shocked and was undercooked, it was actually like liquid. the salad was saturated in oil and was completely limp, disgusting and inedible! picture attached. strike three!

the tuna melt, which was my alltimefavorite was also horrible... 2 summers ago, this amazing sandwich cost $5, now it is over $10 for just the sandwich and no extras. i knew that the price would increase and for the quality it was, rightfully so... but to double with the quality taking a nose dive, no no no! the bread was too hard to bite through, there was barely any cheese on it, and where the heck was the tuna? the edges of the sandwich were plain bread with a bit of mayo. really?? strike four!!

we also shared the expresso brownie, my lord... what happened to this? what too much coco or something. strike five!!

i found things changed drastically following the renovation closure. again, i used to frequent your restaurant a couple of times a week but since the renovation i go maybe once every two or three months and the meals have lacked every single time. i wonder, have you noticed a loss in customers? i notice more and more negative reviews and people saying they will never return.

will you do anything about this to save your reputation? i really hope so!
the loss of such a great thing is sooo sad!

perfect gem. i've been a customer for a while and i've never had a bad experience (take-out, lunch or brunch). if guests are visiting from out of town, this is definite stop off on my tour.

surprisingly, they've always improved with the growing pains. they've made changes to the line-ups and cashiers, there's a lot more seating and i think the air flow has improved as my clothes don't smell like oil the lasttimei went.

i found it overpriced and overrated. 20 bucks for fries, sandwich and a drink and its cafeteria style. the sandwich was ok, but i had a 3.50 doughnut and it was the firsttimei didn't finish dessert... i might try it again, but i'd get it to go, forego the doughnut and fries, and switch the 10 $ cold tandoori sandwich for another.

better for brunch than bread. the brunches here have been pretty impressive although i'm still getting used to the ordering system. i can't say i go for the atmosphere either.

wish the bread was consistent. used to be the greatest but the lasttimei grabbed a loaf (i think it was a dynamite white over the summer) it was pretty flat and dense and frankly, too salty.

sunday brunch review. food is fresh, creative and exceptional. well worth the wait in line and the small struggle for a table. come when you havetimeto spare and the experience is unique and delicious. the coffee alone is worth a trip.
