ordered sirloin steak ($32) and broccoli side ($9). paying $32 for a steak on its own (no chips/veg/salad) you'd expect it to be good, and this was very average. cooked to my liking (med rare) but gristly and chewy. very disappointed.

the broccoli was served with chilli and hazelnut and was very good - well cooked, tasty and a decent serving. shame about the steak.

they need a few rules before they get sued. no unsupervised kids. no running. no kids on the single pool table. i miss the proper pub vibe, i get that they are trying to be family friendly but it's a safety hazard.

we go outside in the cold on friday & saturday nights to avoid it, but parents send kids out alone. it's a packed peak hour pub. you've got booze, lit cigarettes, people swearing & unwinding, waiters serving big plates of food... & packs of unsupervised kids running riot. they jump on top of the long tables down the back without heaters and run along them. i've seen a kid start to neck a strangers half cup of booze left on a table.

edit: august 2017 - kudos to staff who have put new rules in place for kids and are managing things better. having the same menu in the more formal dining hall also helps as you can escape over there if the front bar has been taken over by little ones.

there are two eating options at this pub; the dining hall with more expensive options and the regular pub offerings in the main bar area.
we dined as a group of four in the dining hall and received excellent table service. the menu leans more to sharing plates so the four of us shared sweet potato chips, prawn pizza, beer can chicken and pork belly plus a side of chilli broccoli. the port belly serving was in our opinion not sharing size however. the beer can chicken was cooked perfectly and we all agreed was the best of all we ordered. the overall venue would be described as friendly smart casual and great for sharing. if you'd prefer your own meal, perhaps try the traditional pub menu over the side of the pub!

came here with some friends and our kids last sunday at 5pm and the place was already busy for dinner. who eats dinner at 5pm unless you have kids? haha! between us all we ordered the lamb shoulder which was delicious, and steak, a pizza for our friends with some sides of potatoes, rocket salad, and roasted spiced cauliflower. the kids had fish and chips, burger and chips and pizza. the atmosphere was good, food was quick and tasted great. only down side was that the band was pretty loud which made it hard to have a conversation but our babies still miraculously slept through it and pre kids this probably wouldn't have bothered me! 😉

what a stunning pub!the beer garden is like a hidden oasis. food is not your standard pub counter meal....even the pizzas can be a bit fancy! prices are higher than average but it's an awesome pub.

i ordered the pear pizza. the toppings tasted great together, it consisted of goats cheese, pear, pancetta and caramelised onion. the pear had a lovely sweetness, the onions were cooked perfectly and the crust had a nice thickness. the portions were good and the atmosphere was pleasant. on a negative note, the presentation was reasonable, more toppings were needed and it was a bit expensive for what it was.

the open kitchen and decor was very welcoming, next time i'd like to sit in the beer garden out back.

venison tartare was absolutely delicious accompanied with crispy bread and was the stand out meal. the pizza bianco with pancetta, goats cheese pear and caramelised onion was overly sweet after the second piece, so i would recommend a little less onion and more freshness from the pear. the base was quite doughy, good if you're looking for something quite filling.
the lamb roast was a little dry, possibly because there was no sauce to jazz it up a little. a little more acidity from more pickled onion or some lemon through the quinoa and pearl barley would have improved the dish slightly.

food was good but need a little bit of tweaking to become great. worth trying the place out.

one of my favorite locals. poh keeps me coming back for more, it seems to have that something special. good honest pub fare with all the favorites like chicken parma, wagyu beef burger and gourmet pizzas. you could try the dining hall but i love the pub meals with a pint of golden ale. my go to is the chicken parma however i don't mind the veal schnitzel - beautifully crumbed tender goodness with a side of fresh crispy coleslaw and perfectly seasoned kipfler potatoes. great ambience and great vibe at poh, get around it!

9/11/16 i usually don't edit previous reviews, however i feel that it is necessary to inform the general public of how some eateries can lose their way. basically the chicken parma's ordered this evening were disgusting. the chicken itself seemed like it was boiled...was very firm and had water dripping from it. they also might have left it in the oven a tad too long, judging from the burnt cheese on top. i'm not sure what happens in the kitchen at poh because the quality of food is sporadic - one week great the next inedible. pick your game up chefs or suffer the consequences.

we popped in on saturday afternoon and had a couple of the small share plates in the main bar. really delicious.

we finished our drinks in the beer garden and drooled at the pizzas coming out.

really lovely ambiance and friendly staff.

just wish we'd had more time as i think we could have whiled away a good few hours there.

would recommend for a relaxing saturday afternoon with friends.

has sadly gone down hill in the last year as good front of house staff left the restaurant. reflected by the fact it is now closed on mondays and tuesdays due to poor patronage. our office would normally go once a week. we've picked up on a bit of tension between the chefs and front of house staff. the chefs have changed the menu for the worse and regrettably are very unwilling to add or remove things in dishes based on dietary issues. the bar side in the evening has a good vibe, but regrettably is now the local place for young families with their children. it's often the case you want to have a quiet drink after work without 10 children/babies (no exaggeration) crying or tearing around. should really have a "no children after ?pm" rule like other pubs.

stumbled across this little cute cafe one early arvo and was surprised by the standard of food. we had a late breakfast and it was so tasty. the staff and chef were very friendly and helpful. technically breakfast had finished but they still obliged our request for a late brunch! great coffee and produce. would definitely go back.

there were 8 of there and we had a lovely time! initially felt a bit rushed to order, even though it wasn't busy at all. but generally service was friendly and helpful. they forgot our sweet potato fries and we got them on the house! the food was amazing! the lamb and the steak was perfectly cooked and they were flexible and let us share different entrees and mains.
