the post office hotel

we were a group of four on a friday evening, seven pm. when we arrived the staff were really nice and attentive. we were served well for drinks and our food orders. the food was pretty disappointing. the club sandwich (what do you think of when you hear club sandwich) was a few ingredients between two slices of toast. no layers, not even cut in half. just a square, falling apart, toast with layers. the daily special was trout, no flavour at all. we had to ask 4 times for our plates to be cleared. by 8 pm they were severely understaffed. there were people all over the room trying to get a waiter for service. the staff weren’t bad, there just weren’t enough of them. in that huge room on a friday night i think there were four or five staff. we went out the back to get an after dinner drink. we couldn’t get anyone to serve us at the bar. they have a bar out the back that’s not open at all, even though there’s a full beer garden. i went to the toilet, and there was no toilet paper in any of the toilets. it was only 9pm on a friday night and they were out paper! there wasn’t even a stash you could get for yourself. we used to go regularly to the post office years ago when it first opened. i don’t know how they’ve let it go like this, but we’ll never be back. it’s just notgoodenough, and there’s so many better options. it’s not hard people! service and toilet paper!

the post office is our local and we get here when we can. the bistro is large, modern and a great spot to have dinner - agoodselection of steaks, and other plates covering some of europe and the middle east among other flavours. definitely at restaurant level, not the grubby pub stuff (although you can get a fish and chips or a parma in the front bar and they're both good). regular live music and the venue has agoodmuso-centric vibe but with polish. highly recommended if this sounds like your thing.

boo. the service here was great but unfortunately the food was actually quite disappointing.. i had the lamb shoulder which i really didn't like.. i could tell the ingredients were ofgoodquality but the dish wasn't nice.. i'll probably try again at some stage and maybe try a different dish..

disappointing to be told your meals are 8 minutes away and then wait another twenty. this came after a thirty plus minute wait. simply notgoodenough.

the food here is nice but way over priced, i think that agoodpub meal should be between 15-20 not 25-35 we are in coburg not toorak... knock the prices down and this place would be great. lamb backstrap was ok but not worth $25 my friends had the parma and said it was ok but the plates are an awkward size, not enough room on the plate and salad over powered by onion and chives. def room for improvement.

great atmosphere. went here for fathers day lunch, we all had the roast lamb and all loved it, the flavours were amazing and the service great.
my only complaint is that some chips on the side would have been nice.
def going back for another meal very soon.

we went with the intention of getting agoodwarm pub meal along with the pub setting however it seemed alot fancier than expected. the food wasgoodbut there was a weird ambiance to the place. not sure if it was just that night.

clean and friendly. the food was very fresh and the servings were huge. meals came out ingoodtime considering how busy they were on the day. the coburger was delicious and very generous with its toppings. the batter on the fish and chips would have to be the best i’ve tasted in a long time (crisp, light and not eggy). we couldn’t eat it all but was so happy that we’ll definitely be back.

came in for a friend’s birthday and this pub had a lovely decor and a reallygoodrange of items on the menu! i thoroughly enjoyed the steak and chips, cooked to perfection and the chips were beautifully seasoned. i highly recommend stopping by if you’re aftergoodquality pub food.

what a shame. thought we would visit a local place for dinner and some boutique beers. what we did experience wasgoodbeer but food was atrocious. fish was well over cooked and oysters.... not fresh. this is not something you dice with. i complained to the waiter who collected our dishes and advised him that 4 oysters were off. we left them on the plate and i advised him to notify the kitchen staff. he did nit come back with any feedback and neither did anyone else. upon getting home i had severe stomach cramps which obviously tells me that the other oyster were also not fresh. disgusting and dangerous. food poisoning is not something to take lightly. don’t go there.

the parmigiana was insane! not very often you get agoodcombination ofgoodquality sauce, cheese and tender chicken to make one hell of a parmigiana ! the serving sizes are on point and definitely worth their price . the lamb was anothergooddish also.
even the kids meals- the chicken and chips were so tender .

will definitely be back soon and hopefully in the warmer weather and get to enjoy the great outdoor area .

a great local pub/restaurant with great specials. i recommend the steak. sit out the back in the terrace garden, it’s lovely out there.goodplace to catch up with a friend mid week.

we used to come here often. specially before they built the expansion to their dining room and raised their prices a fair bit. the food here is great. it's got a tiny middle-eastern twist to things that goes really well with their gastro-pub type of menu. everything is well executed and full of flavor. i'm not saying that the new prices are just way too high or that their food isn't asgoodas it used to or even that it isn't worth the prices they now have but it just kinda lost that initial appeal of superb pub food, relaxed, well priced, any-night-of-the-week kinda thing and now it's more like a thing you plan for.goodfor them they've done well and deserve it. i should pay them another visit soon. definitely recommended.

decent tasting parma, wouldn’t say it was above average for me though. there was agoodpub atmosphere, although indoor lighting was a little dim. the outdoor area was nice for a summer night.

i like the pub itself...but saturday night dining was not amazing. we waited 1.5hrs for our food. so by the time it arrived, the band started and we couldn't hear ourselves during the meal. in footy finals season, the game was on...but it couldn't be heard. the tables were too close to the stage area.

staff were run off their feet, did agoodjob. but average food...with loud music is not a draw card.

nice ambience, not too loud (wed evening). fish and chips - nicely done with yummy tartare sauce. chicken parma - very generous serving and chicken nicely cooked, but edges were burnt. side salads that came on the plates were mainly just green leaves - would have beengoodto have something more in that to make it more palatable. overall positive experience.
