not far off. live close so visit lots. the food is good although the menu could do with a few more of pub classics.
obviously going for more of a restaurant feel even though the dining room does not seem to suit the rest of the pub.
the beer garden is the spot for me. the main bar is also pretty good but the fridge and pool table lights light the place up like a 7/11. a low fridge under the bar and dimming the pool table light will give the bar a better atmosphere.
the duke box is spot on.

enjoyed the bean casserole and pork rack in the bar. lovely food, quality serrvice. 35+ type of crowd, relaxed quality brews, will go again.

best middle eastern in a long time!. our friends eat in the restaurant (dining room area) of the post office hotel all the time so my husband and i thought we'd give it a go ourselves as we've only ever eaten in the front bar before. we went last night and we were blown away. i love middle eastern food anyway, but the flavours of the dishes were so fresh and full, i just fell in love all over again (sorry husband!). woohoo for our new coburg local!

cinnamon on the parma?. i went to the post office last night after reading many good reviews. i myself was disappointed. i ordered the chicken parma. upon my first bite i noticed the strong flavour of cinnamon, not what you'd expect on a parma. as i proceeded to eat, the taste only got worse, leaving me very disappointed. the side of deep fried potato pieces was very dissatisfying and very pankcakey.

the atmosphere was also quite boring. i am glad the edinburgh castle is just down the road...

average - and too much dill!. we ate in the restuarant (as opposed to the front bar). the food here wasn't horrible but was average for the price and there was bucket loads of dill on every dish we ordered which overpowered the taste of everything else. definitely won't be returning.

we've enjoyed a few bar meals here since they opened in around the middle of last year but are yet to try the restaurant. i really enjoy the atmosphere of the post office hotel. it attracts a diverse crowd from people with young children, extended families taking their nanas out for lunch, local shopkeepers and residents as well as the hip blow-ins. well, what do you expect when tex perkins is one of the co-owners. let's hope it stays di

the food here is great. have only eaten in the bar but the pub food with a middle eastern/modern twist really worked and it was great value @ $20 a main. don't turn up when you're starving because the pace of the service is languorous but there are excellent well priced beverages and a great atmosphere, so it's the perfect placed for a relaxed weekday dinner.

return to sender. we went to the resaraunt, but were given the bar menu. very limited menu options, tiny serves, expensive for what you got food. i was so hungry afterwards i went somewhere else to eat.
the usual beers on tap.
fair to say most of our group was disappointed. if you want a good pub meal, go to a good pub.

just the sort of place coburg needs! wasn't crazy about the side salads with the bar meals (that dressing doesn't rock my world) but the steak, parma and the potato moons were delicious! can't wait to try out the restaurant part - this is definitely my new local!

worth the wait!. went there on a friday night for dinner and decided to have dinner in the restaurant part of the pub. we didn't book and the place was packed so we had to wait at the bar for a little while. it was worth the wait though! when we were finally escorted to our table, we ordered the garfish, the scallops, the chilli yoghurt goat and the snapper with a few sides (cauliflower, potatoes and beetroot salad) and it was all incredibly tasty! unfortunately we were so full, we didn't have any room for dessert. we'll just have to go back next time for it. service was great, really friendly. my only issue with the whole experience was that it was so noisy in the dining room, i could barely hear what my girlfriend was saying. but other than that, everything else was superb.

a refreshing change with a sour twist.. thank you for providing the area with a much needed boost in pub fare. the food is without question good if not great but unfortunately have fallen short in who their target market is. they have opted for share plates when it comes to vegetables, salad and chips. my gourmet burger arrived as just a burger, i had to order fries on the side total $30 the same goes for a traditional chicken parma. i love the food but this is still a pub in coburg not south yarra, people expect fries and salad with their burger or parma!

the rumours are all true. i took a friend here for dinner last night after hearing rave reviews about the place and it didn't disappoint. i didn't do my research properly and discovered when we got there that on sunday - tuesday nights they only serve food from the bar menu and not the full menu. luckily the bar menu has some great choices.

i had the green bean tagine with cous cous which was excellent. my friend had the steak which she really enjoyed. we weren't drinking last (she is preggers, i have a cold) so i can't comment on their selection but i would definitely go back here to eat again.

oh, and they were playing great tunes!!

delicious!. the newly-opened kitchen is serving up amazing fare - not your usual pub-grub, which is hardly surprising when you realise that the chef, troy was previously head chef at mo mo. i went on a sunday for lunch, and am looking forward to going back soon to sample the weeknight menu.
thanks for bringing such great food to coburg - it's wonderful to have an alternative to the middle eastern fare that dominates most of sydney road.
