the post office hotel

a group of us went on a wednesday night. my daughter unfortunately ordered the veal schnitzel with sauerkraut. it was served overcooked and extremely dry. she asked for some aoli which was given for free. the sauerkraut was not sauerkraut at all but salted cabbage. this was very disappointing as it wasn't a cheap meal. there wasn't any self serve water so we asked the waiter for some. he was unfriendly and said when i'm not busy and walked away. later in the evening while i was watching a worker plate up the food, i saw him eat some of the food from the plate. overall a very disappointing experience.

the parmigiana was insane! not very often you get a good combination of good quality sauce, cheese and tender chicken to make one hell of a parmigiana ! the serving sizes are on point and definitely worth their price . the lamb was another good dish also.
even the kids meals- the chicken and chips were so tender .

will definitely be back soon and hopefully in the warmer weather and get to enjoy the great outdoor area .

had a seriously delicious gnocchi here yesterday (from the specials). it way exceeded my expectations for pub food. the pine nut paste was to die for. the only downside was that the serving size was on the small size. my husband had a parma and he enjoyed it. we'd go back.

a great local pub/restaurant with great specials. i recommend the steak. sit out the back in the terrace garden, it’s lovely out there. good place to catch up with a friend mid week.

awesome old school pub ! one of the best beer gardens in the north. great selection of local beers on tap even a mid strength option!! food awesome and great value

we used to come here often. specially before they built the expansion to their dining room and raised their prices a fair bit. the food here is great. it's got a tiny middle-eastern twist to things that goes really well with their gastro-pub type of menu. everything is well executed and full of flavor. i'm not saying that the new prices are just way too high or that their food isn't as good as it used to or even that it isn't worth the prices they now have but it just kinda lost that initial appeal of superb pub food, relaxed, well priced, any-night-of-the-week kinda thing and now it's more like a thing you plan for. good for them they've done well and deserve it. i should pay them another visit soon. definitely recommended.

this place used to be fantastic when it opened a few years back.

on the positive side - the fit out of the old hotel still looks great, and provides a range of indoor and outdoor spaces with a pleasant vibe.

but to be honest, every time we have been here things seem to get a little worse on the food front. the menu is now pub fare only, and while the pizza was passable our mains were quite disappointing. the schnitzel i ordered was tough, and came with a carrot and olive salad that was strange and bitter.

i would only ever come back here for a drink again. it’s a pity, as we don’t have a lot of great pub choices locally and this one had shown so much promise.

so far, we've been waiting 45 minutes since we ordered. just two meals, a steak and a burger. unfortunately at this point the quality of the food and service doesn't come into my rating. especially since i'll hardly be able to make a rational evaluation when i'm this hungry. it's a thursday night, no specials events on or anything. come on, lift your game.

decent tasting parma, wouldn’t say it was above average for me though. there was a good pub atmosphere, although indoor lighting was a little dim. the outdoor area was nice for a summer night.

disappointing epicurean experience last week at the post office.  our tradition of celebrating family birthday dinners in the dining hall is always fabulous....but not this time in the pub unfortunately...a lengthy delay in receiving meals, then greeted with 'market fish' that was very salty and kept company on plate only by some grilled cos lettuce (i've since heard cooked lettuce is now a trend but not one i'll following).  it was underwhelming and then service that was channeling basil fawlty, blaming us for not liking the food. to be fair, drinks were not charged but the experience left a bad taste in the mouth.

beautiful place. i've been here for lunch and dinner a few times and is been great. i love the interiors of the dining hall. i had the mussels the last time i was here and they were amazing.

i like the pub itself...but saturday night dining was not amazing. we waited 1.5hrs for our food. so by the time it arrived, the band started and we couldn't hear ourselves during the meal. in footy finals season, the game was on...but it couldn't be heard. the tables were too close to the stage area.

staff were run off their feet, did a good job. but average food...with loud music is not a draw card.

nice ambience, not too loud (wed evening). fish and chips - nicely done with yummy tartare sauce. chicken parma - very generous serving and chicken nicely cooked, but edges were burnt. side salads that came on the plates were mainly just green leaves - would have been good to have something more in that to make it more palatable. overall positive experience.

went here today with friends for lunch as it was something new for us all.

the venue is great, really cool outdoor area.

where it went wrong for us was the food. i ordered a potato pizza which was basically anaemic! it had no sauce, potato that was not even cooked properly and random slices of lemon. it had no taste at all. i have eaten cardboard with more taste. i appreciate i may have ordered poorly.

my husband ordered the pork belly. he has a gut of steel and this is the first time ever i have seen him gauge after eating a meal. the pork was not cooked properly and he spent the rest of the day trying to keep his lunch down.

we also ordered a other pizza which was ok, albeit over sauced but that worked well for me as i took her excess sauce to put on my cardboard.

it's also odd how the pizzas come out very early we had finished our meals long before the burger and pork came out.

this will probably be one we cross off the list in future.

we had such a great night here on saturday! big booth with our mates. beer did flow. so did the wine. the floor manager recommended a shiraz (strenua wines) that melted me. i had the scotch steak served rare and it had the perfect amount of charcoal to render the fat through the seam. our friends had vegan delights that hit the spot and the pizza special was crisp and savoury. couldn't fault it on any point. will definitely be back with friends. a great local.
