the post office hotel

the post office is our local and we get here when we can. the bistro is large, modern and agreatspot to have dinner - a good selection of steaks, and other plates covering some of europe and the middle east among other flavours. definitely at restaurant level, not the grubby pub stuff (although you can get a fish and chips or a parma in the front bar and they're both good). regular live music and the venue has a good muso-centric vibe but with polish. highly recommended if this sounds like your thing.

boo. the service here wasgreatbut unfortunately the food was actually quite disappointing.. i had the lamb shoulder which i really didn't like.. i could tell the ingredients were of good quality but the dish wasn't nice.. i'll probably try again at some stage and maybe try a different dish..

i'll be back..... we had a booking for 10 of us. what agreatnight!  we had the banquet pre-ordered which included the goat. food, food and more food!!! it was scrumptious. the staff were on-the-ball. the drinks flowed (including table water) where some places you need to keep asking for.   i've since returned with my boys for a quiet night and once again excellent food and service.

we walked into the post office hotel dining hall and were surprised it was so busy. hoping to get a table for 2, we were offered a table in the courtyard at the back of the dining hall. we were very impressed by the place as a whole and the courtyard was no less impressive and comfortable with a huge outdoor heater overhead and agreatambiance!! we ordered pizza for to share as it looked as though it was the most popular item that diners were ordering. we're glad that we did! best pizza in ages!

as my local pub, i used to very much enjoy going to the poh with friends and visitors to show off ourgreatgastro-pub local. recent visits have been terrible, food can only be described as tasteless slop and it appears they are always out of almost every beer on tap. don’t know what has happened but i won’t be back to find out.

great atmosphere in this pub and it is often busy. it has agreatrange of drinks to choose from and wonderful staff.

sadly the food leaves a lot to be desired, the chicken parma is under seasoned and under sauced, making it a very bland slab of meat for $26. the margherita pizza was alright. a lot ofgreatmenu items have gone due to what we hope is only a seasonal rotation.

a regular here. they havegreatvegetarian options. very creative! not sure about the new renovations but sure we will get used to them. well done to the chef on the vegetarian options.

good modern hotel that offers a little more than your chicken parma and steak. we had a few pizzas and they were all fantastic! agreatpub!

the parmigiana was insane! not very often you get a good combination of good quality sauce, cheese and tender chicken to make one hell of a parmigiana ! the serving sizes are on point and definitely worth their price . the lamb was another good dish also.
even the kids meals- the chicken and chips were so tender .

will definitely be back soon and hopefully in the warmer weather and get to enjoy thegreatoutdoor area .

agreatlocal pub/restaurant withgreatspecials. i recommend the steak. sit out the back in the terrace garden, it’s lovely out there. good place to catch up with a friend mid week.

this place used to be fantastic when it opened a few years back.

on the positive side - the fit out of the old hotel still looks great, and provides a range of indoor and outdoor spaces with a pleasant vibe.

but to be honest, every time we have been here things seem to get a little worse on the food front. the menu is now pub fare only, and while the pizza was passable our mains were quite disappointing. the schnitzel i ordered was tough, and came with a carrot and olive salad that was strange and bitter.

i would only ever come back here for a drink again. it’s a pity, as we don’t have a lot ofgreatpub choices locally and this one had shown so much promise.

we had such agreatnight here on saturday! big booth with our mates. beer did flow. so did the wine. the floor manager recommended a shiraz (strenua wines) that melted me. i had the scotch steak served rare and it had the perfect amount of charcoal to render the fat through the seam. our friends had vegan delights that hit the spot and the pizza special was crisp and savoury. couldn't fault it on any point. will definitely be back with friends. agreatlocal.

i've been curious about this place for years. my partner and i stopped in for dinner on saturday night. nice vibe, exposed brick, fireplace... would have been cosy except that the eating section was really cold. i had my jacket and scarfe on the whole time. i ordered the lamb and my partner had the chicken. the flavours were good, the only problem was a lack of food. there was certainly sufficient lamb for me, but the interesting-sounding accompaniments were really just garnish. the pumpkin puree, for example, was really just a smear. it worked so well with the lamb, it would have beengreatto have a hearty, full plate on a cold night. pumpkin is about $1 per kilo at the moment - if i was the chef i would have just smashed it on the pumpkin! sweet potato fries that we ordered on the side were burnt and crumbling to pieces. need to be cut thick probably to maintain consistency. we also waited 40 mins for our meals, which wasn't the worst thing in the world but we were pretty starving!
