we walked into the post office hotel dining hall and were surprised it was so busy. hoping to get a table for 2, we were offered a table in the courtyard at the back of the dining hall. we were very impressed by the place as a whole and the courtyard was no less impressive and comfortable with a huge outdoor heater overhead and a great ambiance!! weorderedpizza for to share as it looked as though it was the most popular item that diners were ordering. we're glad that we did! best pizza in ages!

i was really surprised by the post office. they have two completely separate sections, one for the pub and the other for the restaurant. please note that both venues are quite noisy.

iorderedthe steak and i was really happy with it! it was a large serving and absolutely delicious. two of my other friends also had steak and they agreed it was wonderful. we were just unhappy it was served with bok choy. i really liked the potatoes though. the pizza is also huge and we were impressed that it was served with a pizza cutter. how come not more places can do this????

the vegetarian burgers were apparently very tasteless. our friend had to wait 30 minutes for her drink. fortunately the staff gave us a free round of drinks because of these issues! thank you so much. it is rare for a venue to do something about these issues.

we had a lovely time. after dinner we went next door to listen to some bands. lots of fun indeed and a very unexpected place for bands to perform! can highly recommend this place.

this is my second time returning to the post office hotel and will sadly be my last. iorderedthe veggie burger, when it arrived the patty was of a slop like consistency, making it very unappealing. in addition the staff were very much m.i.a, when requesting tomato sauce/salt/pepper i felt like it was a bother. would not recommend and will not be returning.

lunch today was disappointing.
3 of usorderedthe”crumbed lamb shoulder” with peas and carrots “ absolutely nothing like we expected! what arrived was a rectangular shaped object fairly burnt sprinkled with peas and carrots. the lamb was obviously left overs filled with gristle shaped into a rectangle and deep fried. we just could not eat it! not worth $28

very disappointed from what this pub used to serve. i would say kitchen staff have changed and you tell when trying food no seasoning and steak that wasorderedcome out overdone, when asking staff on why steak was overcooked and fries come out cold answer thats what you ordered. poor customer service and could of gone to another pub locally and had a better experience. unfortunately these things happen and you learn. stay away.

a group of us went on a wednesday night. my daughter unfortunatelyorderedthe veal schnitzel with sauerkraut. it was served overcooked and extremely dry. she asked for some aoli which was given for free. the sauerkraut was not sauerkraut at all but salted cabbage. this was very disappointing as it wasn't a cheap meal. there wasn't any self serve water so we asked the waiter for some. he was unfriendly and said when i'm not busy and walked away. later in the evening while i was watching a worker plate up the food, i saw him eat some of the food from the plate. overall a very disappointing experience.

this place used to be fantastic when it opened a few years back.

on the positive side - the fit out of the old hotel still looks great, and provides a range of indoor and outdoor spaces with a pleasant vibe.

but to be honest, every time we have been here things seem to get a little worse on the food front. the menu is now pub fare only, and while the pizza was passable our mains were quite disappointing. the schnitzel iorderedwas tough, and came with a carrot and olive salad that was strange and bitter.

i would only ever come back here for a drink again. it’s a pity, as we don’t have a lot of great pub choices locally and this one had shown so much promise.

went here today with friends for lunch as it was something new for us all.

the venue is great, really cool outdoor area.

where it went wrong for us was the food. iordereda potato pizza which was basically anaemic! it had no sauce, potato that was not even cooked properly and random slices of lemon. it had no taste at all. i have eaten cardboard with more taste. i appreciate i may haveorderedpoorly.

my husbandorderedthe pork belly. he has a gut of steel and this is the first time ever i have seen him gauge after eating a meal. the pork was not cooked properly and he spent the rest of the day trying to keep his lunch down.

we alsoordereda other pizza which was ok, albeit over sauced but that worked well for me as i took her excess sauce to put on my cardboard.

it's also odd how the pizzas come out very early we had finished our meals long before the burger and pork came out.

this will probably be one we cross off the list in future.

i've been curious about this place for years. my partner and i stopped in for dinner on saturday night. nice vibe, exposed brick, fireplace... would have been cosy except that the eating section was really cold. i had my jacket and scarfe on the whole time. iorderedthe lamb and my partner had the chicken. the flavours were good, the only problem was a lack of food. there was certainly sufficient lamb for me, but the interesting-sounding accompaniments were really just garnish. the pumpkin puree, for example, was really just a smear. it worked so well with the lamb, it would have been great to have a hearty, full plate on a cold night. pumpkin is about $1 per kilo at the moment - if i was the chef i would have just smashed it on the pumpkin! sweet potato fries that weorderedon the side were burnt and crumbling to pieces. need to be cut thick probably to maintain consistency. we also waited 40 mins for our meals, which wasn't the worst thing in the world but we were pretty starving!

went to the post office hotel for dinner andorderedthe smoked chicken, mango and panchetta salad. it was the most disappointing meal i've ever had, about 20g of shredded chicken and huge amounts of lettuce. no sign of panchetta or mango! i told the waiter who was incredibly nice about it, and when he arrived back with my "fixed up" meal he said he would take it off the bill if i still wasn't happy with it. they added a little more chicken but was still not what it described on the menu.. i was more confused than anything! i didn't pay for the meal though. great service, terrible salad.

came here with some friends and our kids last sunday at 5pm and the place was already busy for dinner. who eats dinner at 5pm unless you have kids? haha! between us all weorderedthe lamb shoulder which was delicious, and steak, a pizza for our friends with some sides of potatoes, rocket salad, and roasted spiced cauliflower. the kids had fish and chips, burger and chips and pizza. the atmosphere was good, food was quick and tasted great. only down side was that the band was pretty loud which made it hard to have a conversation but our babies still miraculously slept through it and pre kids this probably wouldn't have bothered me! 😉

iorderedthe pear pizza. the toppings tasted great together, it consisted of goats cheese, pear, pancetta and caramelised onion. the pear had a lovely sweetness, the onions were cooked perfectly and the crust had a nice thickness. the portions were good and the atmosphere was pleasant. on a negative note, the presentation was reasonable, more toppings were needed and it was a bit expensive for what it was.

one of my favorite locals. poh keeps me coming back for more, it seems to have that something special. good honest pub fare with all the favorites like chicken parma, wagyu beef burger and gourmet pizzas. you could try the dining hall but i love the pub meals with a pint of golden ale. my go to is the chicken parma however i don't mind the veal schnitzel - beautifully crumbed tender goodness with a side of fresh crispy coleslaw and perfectly seasoned kipfler potatoes. great ambience and great vibe at poh, get around it!

9/11/16 i usually don't edit previous reviews, however i feel that it is necessary to inform the general public of how some eateries can lose their way. basically the chicken parma'sorderedthis evening were disgusting. the chicken itself seemed like it was boiled...was very firm and had water dripping from it. they also might have left it in the oven a tad too long, judging from the burnt cheese on top. i'm not sure what happens in the kitchen at poh because the quality of food is sporadic - one week great the next inedible. pick your game up chefs or suffer the consequences.

this is a nice local pub, fish & chips were tasty but wasn't too sure about the burger - may be because hubbyorderedthe double but it seemed a little hard to consume... i'm sure it would go down a treat if you like your meat by the kilo though.
