taco boy

overpriced/bad service. my date and i spent nearly 90 dollars on 4tacosa salad and 5 drinks with tip. the money wouldn't have been as big of a deal if the service hadn't been so terrible. we asked for silverware 3 times and finally got some when i got up from the table and engaged a hostess for some. the atmosphere is fun and the decor cool and hip, but the value just isn't there when you take into consideration bang for your buck.

way over priced!!!tacosare not even that great and are the tiniest taco's in the world! should be calledtacosbabies or taco bites and nibbles. sad, lets of people with money don't care though. so they, like many other below average restaurants stay in business. the while culinary experience in charleston suffers because of such price verses quantity and quality abuse.

it's mediocre at best. authentic? not by far. appetizers and a drink would be the only thing enjoyable.tacosa big thumbs down. overpriced and not even flavorful.

its charleston people!. four dollars per taco is a little steep, but this is charleston. on the other hand the atmosphere is great and the service is even better. i had twotacoscarne asada and one americano, and enjoyed them a lot. your not going to get a true mexican street taco at taco boy, but you will have a very tasty meal.

shrimp tacos. love the sauteed shrimptacosin lettuce wraps, and the patio is perfect in spring. nachos make a perfect meal, and the tres leches cake is the best dessert in charleston.

love love love. i love taco boy! my favorite is the grilled shrimp taco, but the best deal is the nachos-- huge plate of food! had the portobello quesadilla the other night, and it was amazing! the pineapple infused margaritas and the frozen screwdrivers are great. the patio is a great place to gather with friends.

tres leches cake is a must. although taco boy is often "dinged" for having very smalltacos(very small), share the nachos appetizer between two to four people, plus one or twotacosper person. that is more than enough food, and the nachos with the homemade cowboy beans and lots of cheese more than make up for the small size of the tacos. i usually switch the corn taco for flour, which is available upon request. highly recommend the grilled shrimp taco, but have never had a bad one. then end the meal with the most luscious tres leches cake ever. i'm a chocaholic, and the tres leches cake at taco boy is my favorite cake in the world, despite not having any chocolate! have never seen anyone dislike it, and most people moan in satisfaction when they taste it. fun atmosphere and high energy. great patio with fire pits for winter, and large roll-up windows for pleasant spring days. great place to take a fun group of friends.

i don’t know why, but i’ve been on a serious taco kick lately. i’ve been craving them like crazy. so as such, i’ve tried pretty much every taco place in charleston. my favorite, by far, is taco boy downtown. not only are theirtacosspectacular, the atmosphere is really freaking cool. the inside is all mismatched and looks like someone just put together a restaurant by stealing furniture from all of their neighbors. they also have an awesome patio that is what i see in my dreams when i think of the coolest possible patio there is. if you don’t like tacos, you should definitely come hang out just for the ambience. i also love their mismatched light fixtures and chandeliers. it’s just really cool. i don’t know why i love restaurants with mismatched furniture so much. to start, we usually get the appetizer trio consisting of salsa, queso, and guacamole (market price). their guac is killer. it’s so good. if you don’t want a whole trio appetizer, i definitely recommend getting the guac. unl

definitely worth a visit. while visiting my wife's sisters in charleston, we hit up the taco boy. the building is awesome and the weather was uncharacteristically nice so we sat in the outside patio area. despite the server spilling a couple of glasses of water on my sister-in-law, the meal was very good. i was put off at first that they don't serve hard taco shells but my softtacoswere excellent. the beer chalices and serving plates were so awesome that i was tempted to snatch up a few but didn't as i'm a law abiding citizen. check this place out if you're in the area.

i'm on the fence.... i want to like this place. i really do. it looks like a cool place to have some drinks and chow down on some tacos. it should be relatively easy considering it's pseudo-hole-in-the-wall vibe. the place makes you feel like you've discovered something that only the locals know about.

i first tried it at the downtown location and, unfortunately, wasn't much impressed. it serves tacos. i get it. with a limited menu selection and a la carte items at around $3-$4 each i thought you'd get a little something more. i don;t know what i was expecting i guess.

i more recently tried the johns island location since it was the "original" from what i understand. again i want to like this place. i ordered twotacos- the vegetarian and the barbacoa. the barbacoa was delicious. lots of flavor and tender. it made my mouth water. the vegetarian was lame. i know it's an odd thing to order at a taco place, but if you're going to add it to your menu you better make sure it's good. whoever put it together threw some lettuce and tomato into the shell and called it a day. at $3 it was definitely not worth it - it could've been served more like a garnish.

will i try taco boy a third time? only if i'm hungry and craving that barbacoa.

delicious fresh tex-mex fusion cuisine, a wide variety of beer and creative cocktails, an outdoor seating area, kitschy bathrooms, and flat screen tvs for sports watching. could you ask for anything more? i love their individualtacosbecause

not worth it!. over $17 for 3 smalltacosand drink.

maybe the entire staff was still hungover from their halloween party the night before. not sure. this was the worst dining experience i have ever had. after waiting 15 minutes for a waitress to come over and take our drink orders and then at least 5 more to get our drinks and place our food orders, it took another 30 minutes to get our tacos. we were one of only five tables inside. maybe service outside is better. by the time we got our joke of a taco that didn't have what was on the menu in them and some of the wrong tacos, we were to hungry to send them back. we finally got a water at the end if the meal. they did take a fewtacosoff but that doesn't make up for the horrible service and long wait.

went rather late on a friday but were seated right away. our server was not really available but we finally we ordered and the food came out super fast. thetacosare tiny and were uninspired, but the nachos are awesome.

awesometacosand environment

fun and funky. the food is not complex -tacosand such. basically a single page menu in two columns with beers and drinks on the back of the menu. but what they have is done right with lots of flavor. not counting alcohol you will end up spending about $10 to $12 per person. the drinks are up to you.

there is a great outside area and a bar that surrounds the window between inside and out. the atmosphere is funky and the staff is friendly. they taco boy has a good sized parking lot, but it can fill up fast which will leave you parking on the street. so go early, get a good spot, and enjoy the evening.
