overpriced/bad service. my date and i spent nearly 90 dollars on 4 tacos a salad and 5 drinks with tip. the money wouldn't have been as big of a deal if the service hadn't been so terrible. we asked for silverware 3 times and finally got some when i got up from the table and engaged a hostess for some. theatmosphereis fun and the decor cool and hip, but the value just isn't there when you take into consideration bang for your buck.

its charleston people!. four dollars per taco is a little steep, but this is charleston. on the other hand theatmosphereis great and the service is even better. i had two tacos carne asada and one americano, and enjoyed them a lot. your not going to get a true mexican street taco at taco boy, but you will have a very tasty meal.

shrimp tacos. love the sauteed shrimp tacos in lettuce wraps, and the patio is perfect in spring. nachos make a perfect meal, and the tres leches cake is the best dessert in charleston.

love love love. i love taco boy! my favorite is the grilled shrimp taco, but the best deal is the nachos-- huge plate of food! had the portobello quesadilla the other night, and it was amazing! the pineapple infused margaritas and the frozen screwdrivers are great. the patio is a great place to gather with friends.

tres leches cake is a must. although taco boy is often "dinged" for having very small tacos (very small), share the nachos appetizer between two to four people, plus one or two tacos per person. that is more than enough food, and the nachos with the homemade cowboy beans and lots of cheese more than make up for the small size of the tacos. i usually switch the corn taco for flour, which is available upon request. highly recommend the grilled shrimp taco, but have never had a bad one. then end the meal with the most luscious tres leches cake ever. i'm a chocaholic, and the tres leches cake at taco boy is my favorite cake in the world, despite not having any chocolate! have never seen anyone dislike it, and most people moan in satisfaction when they taste it. funatmosphereand high energy. great patio with fire pits for winter, and large roll-up windows for pleasant spring days. great place to take a fun group of friends.

happy place. i commonly say that taco boy is my happy place and for good reason. theatmosphereis welcoming, fun and takes you to a whimsical foodie paradise. service can be slow during peek times but i often do not mind as the vibe is relaxed and i tend to stay for long periods of time anyway. this is not only a favorite for my friends and i but it is also a wonderful spot to bring out of town guests for a delicious meal and a certified good time!

taco boy is a fabulous place to eat. love theatmospherebut it's the first mexican restaurant where i had to pay for chips n salsa (no refills) the drinks are fantastic, strong with excellent flavor. the drinks alone would keep me coming back, until i saw that your allowed to bring your pet in the establishment to sit on your lap while you eat with paws on the table.

i don’t know why, but i’ve been on a serious taco kick lately. i’ve been craving them like crazy. so as such, i’ve tried pretty much every taco place in charleston. my favorite, by far, is taco boy downtown. not only are their tacos spectacular, theatmosphereis really freaking cool. the inside is all mismatched and looks like someone just put together a restaurant by stealing furniture from all of their neighbors. they also have an awesome patio that is what i see in my dreams when i think of the coolest possible patio there is. if you don’t like tacos, you should definitely come hang out just for the ambience. i also love their mismatched light fixtures and chandeliers. it’s just really cool. i don’t know why i love restaurants with mismatched furniture so much. to start, we usually get the appetizer trio consisting of salsa, queso, and guacamole (market price). their guac is killer. it’s so good. if you don’t want a whole trio appetizer, i definitely recommend getting the guac. unl

i don't think i agree with the one dollar sign meaning that the entree price is really higher than $10. example a taco salad with any meat is $11. most of the menu is al a carte which means once you pick your taco and side you will likely be above $10. family of four cost me $60, it's the most expensive mexican place i know. food for the most part is good (we like everything but the rice). service is good and judging by how many people were there they don't need to lower their prices because the place was packed. they have goodatmosphereand the bar is very cool. great outdoor and indoor seating.

couldn't be better. i love theatmospherehere. it's definitely a bit on the wild side as far as the whole experience goes, that is if you are used to eating at the normal mexican restaurants that charleston has to offer.

moreatmospherethan quality food. the food isn't bad, but it's not spectacular. the atmosphere, however, is fun and lively. it's a nice place to hang out.

nickle and dime boy is a better name. i got my first experience with taco boy a few days ago with some coworkers. the restaurant came highly recommended. theatmosphereis okay but a little strange. i had a $3.95 taco which wasn't good, kind of dry. if i wanted more sauce it would've cost an additional 25 cents. unlike most mexican restaurants, no chips and salsa were served, that's an additional cost. one coworker didn't like guacamole and asked for cream cheese instead. to her dismay, when she received her check there was an additional charged for the cream cheese. i am glad i didn't ask for additional napkins, it probably would've cost me an additional 25 cents each. needless to say, i am not going back to taco boy.

fun and funky. the food is not complex - tacos and such. basically a single page menu in two columns with beers and drinks on the back of the menu. but what they have is done right with lots of flavor. not counting alcohol you will end up spending about $10 to $12 per person. the drinks are up to you.

there is a great outside area and a bar that surrounds the window between inside and out. theatmosphereis funky and the staff is friendly. they taco boy has a good sized parking lot, but it can fill up fast which will leave you parking on the street. so go early, get a good spot, and enjoy the evening.
