stewby's seafood shanty

first time to eat atstewby'stoday, may 21st. i had the grilled amberjack tacos and they were delicious! husband had grilled amberjack sandwich and he said it was the best fish sandwich he has had in years. we were former fans of sam's oyster house and this hits the spot! not sure if former blogger who said the place is closed is a competitor, but this place is open and thriving! excellent!!!!

wow, thank god for urbanspoon and trip advisor or we'd never have knownstewby'sexisted. believe the hype, great food, and although nowhere near waterfront, a great setting. staff is friendly and helpful and the food outstanding. we were dewey destin junkies prior but after our visit tostewby'swe'll never go anywhere else.

excellent food, excellent price!. we are here vacationing, and we hadstewby'sfor dinner tonight. it was delicious! i had the fish tacos, and my husband had the shrimp and fish dinner. the fish was fresh, the fries were not greasy, and the portions were big. we come to ft. walton every summer, andstewby'shas certainly made our list of favorite restaurants in the area. if you're looking for fast, delicious seafood in a casual atmosphere at a great price, this is the place!

i've been tostewby'smany times! it's my go to seafood place! way better than the big vacation spot seafood places! great prices, too! i've had their fried shrimp, grilled shrimp and fried oysters along with potato salad and okra! this place is by far one of my favorites!

we triedstewby'stonight for the 1st time. really good and would recommend to others to try. since we are on vacation we used zomato and it was spot on. amberjack grilled, cole slaw, hush puppies and okra all great!

food was amazing! i had fried fish with fried onions and potato salad and my daughter had the grilled jumbo shrimp. i normally avoid fried fish because greasy batter usually overwhelms the fish, buts this was perfectly done. very friendly service and a great price point are just icing on the cake. if i could givestewby's6 stars, i would! can't wait to go back and try the fish tacos!

went based on the reviews and was very happy.  stewby's had some of the best fish tacos i've had in recent memory.  the pricing is very fair and the food is awesome.  i will definitely recommendstewby'sand return for more delicious fish tacos!

freshest seafood around!. great little place for seafood. so fresh it was swimming this morning and they are taking out of coolers and fileting it right before your eyes! prices are very reasonable. you won't find any pre-made frozen battered seafood here :)

freshest around!!. this was our first visit tostewby'safter hearing recommendations. i had the fried shrimp dinner and my husband ordered the seafood platter (with oysters, shrimp and fish- today's was amberjack). breading on the seafood/fish was light delicious. as we ordered we could see in the clean kitchen as they cook took a fresh fish out of a cooler and then began to filet it for cooking. my husband said "that was probably swimming this morning"! all the staff are friendly and quick serving. a small restaurant so get there early and expect a beachy feel on the porch kind of dining. everything is cooked to order, fresh and delicious!

great food!. if you live in or are visiting ft. walton this is one of those restaurants you have to eat at. my wife and i aren't seafood fans but we wanted to try out a greater variety of fish and seafood types.stewby'shas excellent prices for seafood and excellent food. they serve whatever fish they can get fresh locally so your fish choice is pretty limited but always fresh. we've been coming back and the fish does change, so we've been able to try several types of fish. it's always good though. we've tried almost all of the side and they have always been great too.

it's definitely a very casual dining experience so don't expect a fine dining seafood spot (just in case "shanty" didn't tip you off).

we really like the fish tacos, the bacon wrapped crab stuffed fried shrimp, the cheese grits, the baked beans, and the hush puppies. we didn't like the fried calamari or the seafood gumbo though.

stewby's is a must if you're in ft. walton!

awesome place!!.stewby'sis an awesome place for fabulous seafood, it is off the beaten path for tourists but well worth the drive. my family has talked aboutstewby'sand going back there since our vacation last year. it is an annual stop on our spring break trips!!

great tasting fish. we've been going tostewby'sfor about a yr; and we always find the food to be outstanding. we tried to go there about once per week.

yummy!!!! :). i looovvvvvestewby'sseafood shanty! we were a party of 9 and they were very accommodating to our needs and wants. the hush-puppies were to die for and the fish was the best i've had. living in missouri, i think aboutstewby'sall the time and i can't wait until we move to the fort walton beach area so i can have it all the time.stewby'sseafood shanty is a definite must have when in the area!!!

my kind of place!. a couple co-workers and i were working in montgomery, al for a few weeks and decided to drive down to the florida coast on the weekend. based on several positive reviews we decided to have lunch atstewby'sseafood shanty and we weren't disappointed!

stewby's has the three things i look for in a restaurant... good food... a reasonable price and a great atmosphere! i had the grilled shrimp tacos which were fantastic! another in our party had his very first fried shrimp sandwich (po boys to most of us) and loved it! and another had the combination platter of fried shrimp, oysters and amberjack (the catch of the day) which was so good... it was the only meal he had that day!

it was a beautiful march day and having the fresh air blowing through the outdoor patio provided just the right atmosphere to be enjoying fresh seafood on the coast.

will definitively be making this a regular stop whenever i travel back to florida or any place within a few hours driving distance of this little gem.

good seafood. i have eaten atstewby'soften and they have good seafood at a great price for the area.

my daughter and her husband and my husband decided to try stewbys again. well my daughter who has cancer ordered the shrimp tacos. i had the oyster po boy the other two had the fried shrimp. the last three orders were fine. my daughter who has a very low immune system right now had pure raw inside shrimp. they were gray .she ate one bite and realized it was raw. why? you weren't that busy. she did not say anything while we were eating because she didn't want to ruin out meal. i am sorry this happen to her and you should be too! a little attention paid to the shrimp would have avoided this.

i was in a party of six everyhing was very good and fresh.service was fine.the only complaint i had was the shrimp were notcleaned properly. some were not deveind at all some were splilt but the vein was intact
to me this is major because i won't eat them.next time i will send them back. other than that we were quite satified with ourstewby'splatters!
