not a pleasantplaceto visit. expected the price of the food to be on par with the decor (old-fashioned) and the service but it was more expensive than other places along the main drag.placeis reminiscent of an rsl. the only thing they bring you is your meals, everything else is serve yourself. for a “bistro” and the prices i paid for a steak ($35) i would have liked some table service rather than being told i’d have to make my way to the adjacent bar for water. when i went to said bar, i found myself in the middle of a nasty fight between one of the waitresses and one of the bartenders. the waitress was screaming at the bartender, yelling profanities. patrons were stunned. in terms of the food, my meal was average at best. never going back.

what a greatplaceto have something to eat and have a drink! a big call out to the nice blonde lady at the bar who made us feel welcome, good to see such warm customer service.

huge old building which looks over the nepean highway to dromana beach on the bay. it’s very large inside with multiple eating areas across different rooms. the set out and decor is not unpleasant but it does feel a bit dated. i had the feeling it should be doing better business here than it was.

i liked the look of the bistro and propped there. i was going to order the mussels delmar - i love my mussels - but then saw the bouillabaisse listed as a special. going by the board the dish promised all sorts of extra seafood for an extra $5. i got brave and ordered it.

knock me down if the dish wasn’t really really good. we might be looking here at a chef who’s a bit bored with pub bistro staples and wants to stretch a bit to the classics. i’ve had bouillabaisse in numerous places around the globe including in the country of origin and i’d have to say this one was in the top half maybe even the top third. the flavours were lovely and it was evident the dish had been prepared and cooked with some care. importantly, the promise about the abundance of seafood was very real. the dish absolutely abounded with fish, prawns, mussels and other goodies and was good value for the price. it’s a generous dish without doubt and it’s well worth seeking out. i was very glad i ordered it.

this is not a high browplacebut who cares. if the key test is good food, i certainly got that tonight. theplaceitself is fine as is the service. just avoid the gaming rooms i’d suggest. i wouldn’t hesitate to eat here again going on this experience.

popped in here tonight after helping a friend move and this was recommended. super friendly staff that didn't make us feel bad for being there in work gear. we were seated right in front of the fireplaceand ordered the oysters natural and mornay, a fillet steak and rump steak. the oysters natural were absolutely spectacular and we should have left it at that as the mornay sauce just couldn't stand up to the oysters. my fillet steak would also have been a rockstar but not quite medium rare, hadn't been rested enough and had a big knife cut in it but was still good. came with a nicely dresses salad and chips were beautifully crisp. the little history lesson on the flyers on the tables about different regions of italy were a nice touch, my mum would have loved it!

goodplacefor lunch or dinner, over the years the bistro food l seen has improved with better management of the bistro, in the hotel, so the prices are good, and the meal size and food has bene cooked very well, its a nice quiet hotel, well worth a good hot meal and relax to beer or wine. being a historical building, you have to respect the hotel, in which the owner over the years has tried to maintain.

well thisplacenot only ticked the box for us because it had a play area to entertain the children, but it was affordable and yummy! not having to swallow your over sized pieces of food, in order to get the food down quicker, while your kids were breaking glasses and spilling drinks out of sheer boredom was a great start for us. they played while we ordered, first entree then mains and deserts. every meal that came out was pub size portions but fresh and delicious. we had crumbed calamari to share for entree, mains were chicken parmigiana's while the kids had sausages and chips and the other lasagna and chips. the kids deserts were only $3 each so we couldn't deny them that. everything was just lovely and definitely what i love about a pub meal. the ambience was just cosy and warm. we will definitely go back in summer.

accommodates well for families and is a niceplaceto relax with the kids. came during school holidays and food was served quickly. generous size of gnocchi and loved the pizzas to share (thin base).

if if you want the hospital food experience with out requiring a hospital admission come to this place........the food is so far below par i honestly believe the people who gave thisplacea favourable rating must have left their taste buds at home when they dined here.

it's staggering to me that thisplacehas "very good" rating on zomato. below average pub food and below average service. went to the pub section once. seafood tough, not greeted, had to ask where to sit despite reservation. made the mistake of thinking via veneto was a separateplaceand came back a second time new years eve to find it's all part of the same establishment. practically empty (not surprising) apart from some stray violent bogans. not recommended.

came on a friday night for a birthday and was a greatplacefor a night out. food was nice pub grub. the ambiance is good and the staff were very smiley even though waiting tables can be a tough job.

the food was good, can't complain about that, theplacedefenetly need some renovation and the staff should get the orders from the table rather than asking the customers to get up and order and get everything from the cash register!

no.. have you seen that movie "hall pass" with owen wilson? well thisplaceis worse than that movie.

casual, yet serves great food. cold beer on tap! it's actually harder to find in dromana than you think. the beer went down well with a well cooked schnitzel. very casualplaceto have a meal.

worst restraunt i have ever been to. no greeting when we walked in. found our own table without help or acknowledgement from staff. couldn't find menus so read off the board as we lined up for ten minutes to order and pay. single chef was dragging his feet and looked bored in kitchen. watched him smell a tub of prawns and put them back under the bench. waited almost an hour for 4 meals. would have walked out but we had already paid.placewas only 3/4 full and staff couldn't keep up. who doesn't put extra staff on over public holidays?
staff run off feet so not friendly.
friends cutlery was even bent out if shape. meals came and were cold- chips and chicken room temperature. carbonara the worst i've had, didn't even finish and felt sick afterwards. turned other customers away as we were eating. disgusting!! never ever written a bad review in my life either!

waiting, waiting.... after waiting for 20 minutes toplaceour order, we then waited another 70 minutes for our mains to arrive... if we haven't paid upfront we would have walked out much earlier.

the melbourne-prices for ordinary pub-grub was not worth the wait, and the response we received when we asked after our dinner was surly and unhelpful.
