great drinks and charcuterie. waiter named adam g. suggested a gin based cocktail called don't give up the ship since they didn't have one of the ingredients for the gin drink on the menu and it was so good! we also had the charcuterie and cheese boards and both were delicious. there were some obnoxious loud talking drunk guys but the staff handled them well. doesn't hurt that adam g. is dreamy...

the pourhouse is one my favorite places in vancouver. it's got a great ambiance, good live music on the weekends and great food for the soul. it also reminds me a bit of many places in new orleans- which makes it even more special in my eyes. they serve a special lunch menu with some delicious sandwich options during the week making it a great place for a quick work lunch. i personally opt for the burger each and every time (they come with a delicious serving of fries). on this particular occasion a friend and i went there for lunch. the prices are a bit on the steeper end but then again most restaurants of this calibre in the area offer similar prices (without the live music and great ambiance). i definitely recommend the pourhouse for any autumn/wintery day. lunch special: sandwich and soup cod, pepper, red wine and chorizo

most peeps know about the great cocktails, solid service, unique cozy room.... but for me its "mama mia!!! " if you like spaghetti and meatballs, then hot damn this is where to eat it! i know down the street at the old spaghetti factory you can sit in a caboose while you scarf down the pasta outta-a-can... but probably after you turn 9 the novelty will run dry and you will crave something from the 'old country'. this pasta dish kicka some serious tomatoes!!!..... now go loosen up the belt and see for yourself.

i ate here alone on a business trip. good: perfect whisky sour, delicious food, great music. bad: indifferent service & a tad pricey. good outweighed the bad, and i'd go back.

the beef tasted tender and smoky and tasted great along with the crunchy pickle and salad. pourhouse has a number of taps with rotating regional beers to pick from.

following the bombay sapphire speakeasy event , adam queenie and i went to pourhouse for some more drinks food. i used to go to school right above pourhouse, at the vsbm a couple years ago. i loved being downtown everyday, and more specifically being in gastown all the time. it gave me the opportunity & excuse to try out many restaurants, such as deacon's corner , the alibi room , the cambie , momo sushi , brioche , so.cial (now called le magasin), revel room and the irish heather (long table series) . the interior of pourhouse is very romantic.. definitely sets the mood and transports you, which is sometimes the most important aspect of dining out. sure you can make food at home, but you can't change your setting (well, not entirely) when you do that, and that really a

yumm~~ cornish hen :). went there with a friend. the waitress was really friendly and there was a live band playing. excellent atmosphere. the music was a little bit loud for conversation, but it was enjoyable.

we started off with a cheese platter. three types of cheese, brie, blue and hard cheese. we substituted blue for another cheese, the waitress substituted aged cheddar for us. the cheese platter contain, cheese, honey, grapes, green apple and some biscuits. it was good but not excellent.

our waitress suggested the baked cornish hen. the hen is stuffed with herbed bread and with mashed potatoes and vegetable beneath. there's gravy around the hen and most of the bones were removed. the taste was phenomenal. the meat was cooked to the perfect tenderness, with a light crispness to the skin. the only downside was the hen was too salty. it felt like it should go with some nice bread since it's too salty to eat on its own.

i would definitely go back for the hen :)

very enjoyable. along with my friends, we had a great experience each time we went there. this was the case whether we went for a full dining experience or if we were just stopping in for drinks.

the comfort inspired food is well prepared. i tried any number of dished here and enjoyed them all.

some notables that i remember are:
pork and beans
cheese sandwich with tomato soup
split pea soup
grilled pork chop

they have an excellent selection of beers. plus, their bartenders blend up some amazing drinks.

the service is always friendly and polite. it is a small comfortable space.

sure, the service is ok and i don't mind the cocktails but the bottom line is that the food served at the pourhouse is not worth the price charged.

good food, better drinks.. i've only been here once for dinner but have been itching to go back. (food was good, the drinks are better) love the atmosphere and look of the place. our server (don't remember his name but was a male) was very helpful and friendly with the menu. also very knowledgeable about everything on the menu including all the ingredients they used. my gf's and i were impressed!

my friend is a lover of caesar's and unfortunately they don't make them at pourhouse (something about clam juice not being natual, they only use natural ingredients..etc, etc) so our server suggested a different drink.. i can't remember the name but it was sooo much better than a caesar! the cocktails are pricey but well worth it after you've tasted them. i had the bittercup and fell in love with how tasty it was.

for dinner we shared the squid. really good but super, super small. i got the smoked brisket sandwich which was just okay. didn't really care for it. one friend got the grilled cheese sandwich and loved it but i think she just loves anything with cheese in it. the other friend got the sturgeon and it was pretty good.

this was our third visit to pourhouse in gastown and it is now on our favorites list. the first trip was a quick stop for a taste from their already well-know cocktail list before heading to dinner elsewhere. the second visit was lunch with relatives over

the food was excellent, but the service was just god-awful. (actually, all the staffs were great, expect for one, according to the receipt, her name is elysse, she has blonde hair and works during lunch hours)

pourhouse was one of my favorite spot for lunch in the gastown neighborhood; they've got tasty cocktails and i've enjoyed many great meals prepared by their talented chefs.

however, the last two dining experience weren't so pleasant. i was served by a server called elysse, who gave us very lousy services.

the first time elysse served us, she forgot to type in our orders.
after an hour,(mind you, the restaurant wasn't very busy at all. there were 5 tables including us) when we asked her about our food, she impatiently said "your food is coming, or do you want me to just cancel your orders?"

elysse failed to apologize, not only did we not get our meal after waiting for an hour, but she had the nerve to ask if we wanted to cancel our meal?

two months later, i've decided to give pourhouse another chance because i love their duck confit pappardell and their drinks. (they took pappardell off their fall menu, which is fine, i like their other dishes as well)

this time, we got elysse as our server, again.

i got the pork belly po'boy special and it was delicious.
my coworker got a tuna sandwich, which (unfortunately) got not 1, but 3 pieces of gigantic fish bones left inside the fillet; they are not tiny fish bones, each of the bone is almost as long as a toothpick!

we told elysse about the fish bones situation, hoping she could at least speak to the kitchen staffs and let them know about it. (because of the bad experience that i had last time with her, i had a feeling that elysse would just take away the plate and not do anything about it, so i took some pictures of the bones, which have some blood (blood from my coworker's mouth) on it, i will post it on urbanspoon if anyone wants to see if i am exaggerating)

she told us that, "it 's albacore tuna fillet, okay? so like, there will be bones in it. the chef poached it with milk, maybe they missed one or two bones here and there, so yea. it happens." no apologies, nothing.

yes, maybe if the tuna sandwich didn't cost $15 dollars+hst, i would understand.

we still got charged for the full price for our meal and did not get an apology from elysse. it's hard to imagine anyone who works in the customer service sector can be so rude, especially at a place like pourhouse.
i certainly wasn't expecting a low-end burger joint service from pourhouse.

that's too bad. they have great food.

there are tons of outstanding new restaurants in downtown/gastown, with fantastic customer service.

i do not recommend anyone to have lunch at the pourhouse.
unless blonde server with poor attitude excites you.

pourhouse known for their refined pub food, is the perfect spot to start your weekend drink on. deal includes a sandwich that generally costs between $14 – $18 each, a side and beer for only $12

came in for the beer... stayed for dessert!. seriously enjoyed my time at pourhouse last night! my husband and i stopped in here to grab a pint and some dessert and were pleasantly surprised. their beer selection is pretty decent (for those of you who are beer fans out there) and we both ordered one of fave stouts off their list.

the real treat was the desserts though - we got a vanilla creme brulee and a warm chocolate cake with house churned salted caramel ice cream. both were simply fantastic - we absolutely demolished them and frankly neither of us could decide which we liked best! i'm going to have to come back to try their other offerings just based on how awesome their dessert was!
