pourhouse restaurant

pourhouse, like many of its gastown brothers and sisters, is a good restaurant. not just because of the food, though thefoodthat i tried was good. not just because of the drinks, because they were good too

one of my favourite places in the city. the servers are very attentive and have great attention to even the smallest detail. 

the interior has a very old school 20's vibe. almost great gatsby-esque. the bartenders all look dapper with their beards and vest. i almost wish the girls would wear flapper dresses and feather headbands. it goes well with the jazz band that plays once a week. 

thefoodis awesome. my personal favourite, and arguably the best in town is the burger. it's just so juicy and perfect. their fries are also on point. the bone marrow is also something worth trying. they serve it with toast and sea salt. it's so creamy and buttery. it's great for sharing. another favourite of mine is the mac n' cheese with bacon.

pourhouse is a gastown neighbourhood bar and restaurant that i frequent because they’re equally serious about theirfoodand cocktail programs. i’m a bottomless pit when i drink so that’s important. the cocktail recipes are not particularly difficult and there’s something for everyone, from frothy and bright to round and herbal.

a pleasant surprise. this restaurant was completely unknown to me until suggested by a friend. our waiter was extremely kind and polite, knowledgeable about all thefooditems on the menu, and very prompt with the service. it was a delicious meal, the ambiance and music are great, and the prices are not too high.

i've been to pourhouse for drinks several times. i have yet to try theirfoodmenu. however, the bar selection is good and the bartenders are helpful. i tried a couple of new bourbons based on their recommendations. i especially like pourhouse during colder, rainier days because the lighting there is not too bright. i've been there in the summer, too, and it's been a good experience.

this is still one of my favourite places. i have already written four blog posts about this place, but i keep coming back and keep trying new things that i think are worth noting. appies, mains, and desserts. they all have been memorable and have all been blog worthy. so with that, i will quote myself, reminding you of the decor from my original post, but then will move right on into thefoodreview portion of this post.

i'm a little taken aback by the negative reviews here. pourhouse is one of my favorite places (if not my favorite) in town for drinks. if there is one place that can get me happy instantly, it is this one. the ambiance is amazing, very rustic and the music is great. they play live jazz on sundays, and have a phenomenal staff. thefooditems are quite limited and small, simple but nonetheless great. the best part about this place however, and where one should focus on, is the drinks. amazing cocktails here, a little pricier than what youre used to but definitely worth it.

we had the chefs table last night for dinner. it was a smorgasborg of deliciousfoodserved directly by kevin the head chef. my favourites were rabbit head cheese, scottish egg and cheshire pork. the dark chocolate mouse at the end was spectacular. lastly, the cocktails were super as always. only negative was my whiskey sour was too sweet. however enjoyed everything else.

good. great atmosphere and decor. the place is small and cozy. thefoodis very tasty. we went for valentines. the dishes are like "tapas". there was live music.

good ambiance, and nice late night lounge. it's a better alternative than a regular bar and has a classy feel to it. love thefoodalthough i feel like their charcuterie board was a bit of a disappointment

the pourhouse is one of my favourite joints in gastown. it's dark and sexy inside and the cocktail list is great. thefoodnever fails to impress.

an excellent cocktail bar in gastown which is the best place in vancouver for going on a first date. if you can, sit at the bar so you can interact with their skilled barmen and have them customize a cocktail to your palate. if not, the waiters/waitresses do a great job at explaining the various drinks. theirfoodis also excellent.

we are not sure about the restaurant part; beyond a plate of tasty hot frites with aioli (and what is the deal with all the bone marrow on menus these days – do people actually order this?) thefoodmenu does not appear that extensive here, but that completely and utterly does not matter. they could have nofoodmenu at all at pourhouse and we would still come again and again for the. best. cocktails. in vancouver.

evoking an underground speakeasy from the prohibition era, this stylish gin joint is a gastown gem that should not be missed. the music vibe is classic rock and motown. if you want a cocktail made to order just the way you like i

i have written about this one a few times already. and it still remains as one of my favourites places to visit downtown. a have come in for meals and just drinks, and each time have not been disappointed with the selection. i consider it a guarantee good eat. a solid choice when between my guest and i, we can’t decide on where to dine. and seeing as today i would be sharing my meal with a vegetarian, i wasn’t willing to chance on thefoodor place. in fact i was here with the same guest that was with me during my last visit here.

walking in both the elevated dining area and the bar were empty. the friendly bartender popped up and out from his station to greet us. despite our willingness to seat ourselves, he followed us to a booth of our choosing and equipped us with what we needed to order our meal, a selection process between three menus. at 3pm we were still in time for lunch, but not being interested in sandwiches we passed on their soup, sandwich, and beer deal. and sadly there was no happy hour specials to take advantage of other than three discounted drinks. so we stuck with their regular menu.

this is my third visit to date and it has yet to disappoint. definitely one of my go to’s when in gastown. greatfoodand large portions at decent prices. the dining trifecta. we came here for more food, having met with disappointment from our first stop. we couldn’t believe that we missed it our first time around. as i have pointed out in the past, the exterior isn’t very prominent, nor is it trying to be memorable. a muted glass entrance looking into a foyer of grey concrete, soften with a vase full of flowers and a wooden bench. as before the sandwich board at knee height did little to stop us, even with us actively looking for places to eat.
