one of my favorites! great atmosphere, great food, great drinks. i wish there were more places like thepourhousearound so i guess i'll just have to keep going back.

i've been topourhousefor drinks several times. i have yet to try their food menu. however, the bar selection is good and the bartenders are helpful. i tried a couple of new bourbons based on their recommendations. i especially likepourhouseduring colder, rainier days because the lighting there is not too bright. i've been there in the summer, too, and it's been a good experience.

tried to play "stump the bartender". i could not. they knew their stuff and every cocktail was expertly made. main reason i went topourhousetwice on this recent vancouver visit, looking forward to coming back. love a great cocktail bar.

i'm a little taken aback by the negative reviews here.pourhouseis one of my favorite places (if not my favorite) in town for drinks. if there is one place that can get me happy instantly, it is this one. the ambiance is amazing, very rustic and the music is great. they play live jazz on sundays, and have a phenomenal staff. the food items are quite limited and small, simple but nonetheless great. the best part about this place however, and where one should focus on, is the drinks. amazing cocktails here, a little pricier than what youre used to but definitely worth it.

tried thepourhouseburger after hearing high praises. the bun was a bit burnt but the patty was very substantial and juicy. it was overall a good burger but the fries were weirdly stale. the place is quite dark for dinner hours, i could hardly read the menu.

i brought a friend in the evening and we sat in the "lounge" area after getting dinner somewhere else (two high-backed, plushy armchairs with a small round table). in short, we had a great time! our server was attentive and friendly, and offered to suggest drinks depending on what style my friend wanted. i ordered a couple of cocktails and a neat single serving of dalwhinnie (15yr), and my friend ordered a jack rose and brandy alexander. thepourhousestaff also serve drinks that are not on the menu, which is always lovely. the drinks are nicely made, and water is constantly served. it was a great way to end off the evening in a nice atmosphere.

thepourhouseis one of my favourite joints in gastown. it's dark and sexy inside and the cocktail list is great. the food never fails to impress.

service was terrible. i generally quite enjoy the pourhouse, but tonight my service was absolutely horrible. this seems to be a pattern here, and i would think that if thepourhousewould like to enjoy high ratings, they would train their staff and service to be polite.

our server was outright rude to me - completely unacceptable when we are paying hundreds of dollars for an evening. i will not be returning.

we are not sure about the restaurant part; beyond a plate of tasty hot frites with aioli (and what is the deal with all the bone marrow on menus these days – do people actually order this?) the food menu does not appear that extensive here, but that completely and utterly does not matter. they could have no food menu at all atpourhouseand we would still come again and again for the. best. cocktails. in vancouver.

evoking an underground speakeasy from the prohibition era, this stylish gin joint is a gastown gem that should not be missed. the music vibe is classic rock and motown. if you want a cocktail made to order just the way you like i

i grew up in a small hotel where from time to time, the chef would prepare "marrow bones on toast" for the dinner menu. this was considered a great delicacy. the bones were sliced horizontally in cross-section so there would be a couple of round sections of bone on the plate with thin slices of toast. i remember digging out the small globules of marrow, smearing them on the toast and enjoying the rich creamy flavour. so when i saw roasted bone marrow with sea salt, radish and grilled bread under the appetizer section of this menu, i had to try it. six of us converged on thepourhouserestaurant in gastown to celebrate a birthday. our birthday girl loves jazz and every sunday night the restaurant features a band so this was the perfect choice for her birthday dinner. between us we had a variety of salads and appetizers, and two of our group could not resist the mac and cheese with bacon  which was quite a substantial portion. the raw oysters came with the usual mignonette sauce; minced shallots , pepper and vinegar. rather than a main course i decided on two appetizers - the first was the roasted marrow bone - full of creamy flavour as i remembered but

after shopping at a few local boutiques in gastown, i needed a snack and remembered c'est la vie a maggi instagramming a photo of a large bone marrow from pourhouse. in addition, she mentioned it was only $12.00! so, since bf and i were in the area and needed something light, it was pretty much meant to be. walking in on a weekday around 4:30pm, the restaurant was not very busy and a couple of people were  drinking at the bar. after waiting at the front for a while, the bartender asked if we were here for drinks or food, along with providing us a choice of a table or bar seat, before calling the waiter. the atmosphere atpourhouseis very homey and feels like a relaxing place to socialize, although of course the restaurant will get loud during busier times such as dinner through to late night. asides from the comfortable atmosphere, the high rustic wooden ceiling along with the pillars to the bricked walls, resemble a traditional european style interior. as for the seating arrangements

st. patrick's day was a really busy night downtown, and not a place to be for a party of 11 with no reservations. our party grew throughout the night, and what started as 8 turned into 11. there was no way we were going to get a place together at a reasonable time. that being said,pourhousewas able to accommodate us, although way later than we had hoped. they did their best to fit us all together though. i first learned aboutpourhousefrom a van food tour. ever since them, i love to visit this place for a quick sazerac when i'm out in gastown. this is the first time i was actually able to try the food (besides having a charcuterie plate). sure we waited a long time, but waits were long everywhere, and they were actually able to seat us in the main dining area - with all 11 of us together. i ordered the bacon mac and cheese to start, and the braised beef as my main. my friends ordered a bunch of different things - burgers, steak frites, grilled cheese and cauliflower soup,
