a delightful place for breakfast! i loved the "avo dish" and all the other menu items sounded delicious. the staff were very friendly and offered us a place under the heater in the courtyard when inside was too noisy. i loved the sound of all the interesting drinks too and will be back to try them out.

good service, bad food and overpriced. no heaters outside.

the waitress was great. had the salmon dish (too small) and a chili/shitake scrambled eggs (made me feel ill).

prices were steep for the size/quality. extra surcharge for sunday and no split bills (painful for a large group).

i've had brunch here twice in the last month with friends and family. noisy, bustling, somewhat cramped seating but service is excellent and food is great. probably the first and only time i'll eat green fairy-floss on porridge for breakfast. 😊 the hotcakes are wonderful. the jaffa pancakes are amazing but extremely rich. expect a food coma after eating.

penny university really knows how to do breakfast. we stopped by on a busy morning and ordered the breakfast dog and the eggs with avocado and quinoa. we had to sit outside because of how popular it was, but there's heaters for the chillier months and the service was quick so it didn't bother us. as for the food, the breakfast dog is a great, satisfying breakfast pick, and one you can also order to go. the egg, avocado and quinoa were pretty standard, but still fine. they do great coffee too which is a bonus.

really great vibe, cluttered and eclectic. okay coffee, takeaway sandwichs were great, really big and delicous. always busy, but servers are always on top of it.

avo dish was great although a little unevenly seasoned - there were overly salty bits. the coffee was good and the service was friendly. will need stronger heaters as the morning get even cooler!!

had an excellent breakfast this morning with quality coffee and avocado on toast which was bursting with flavour. as a newbie to canberra i haven't been able to get avo on toast anywhere (i thought it was in the vibe of the constitution that it had to be served). anyways, highly recommended and outstanding service too.

one of the first meals we had during our weekend in canberra was at penny university cafe & coffee roasters in kingston. the cafe was super busy when we arrived, with people not only at the tables inside and out, but lining up for takeaway coffee and food as well! luckily we were able to snag a table straight away, and the staff were excellent despite the hubbub around them.

dirtiest and the most over rated place in canberra. had a burger and seafood salad for over $60. dirty tables, sweet and soggy burger and tasteless salad. i don't mind spending money, they could have $100 meals for all i care as long as it's worth it, but this place is just one of those greedy hispsters place.

i think this place has gone downhill - i haven't been here for a while, but a $20 breakfast shouldn't leave you hungry, and it shouldn't be lukewarm/cold. had the salmon dish--there was barely any salmon and the egg and asparagus were cold. my sister had the zaatar eggs - guess what, it was one egg, and the accompaniments were cold. surely when you are paying that price for brunch and the dish features eggs in its name, there should be two? also was so difficult to get service and we had to wait a long time at the register to pay. disappointing considering i enjoyed going here a few times in the past.

good service, nice coffee and food. good variety of healthy food on offer. servings were big...slightly over priced i thought for a suburban cafe...3 brunch dishes, 2 coffee and 1 fresh juice costed $70+!

great coffee and my fav breakfast ever ... avo dish with a baker dark eye is delicious. they used to do an eggplant tomato and mozzarella salad which was awesome too

penny university is a cafe located in kingston and it's a favourite of mine and many other people. it's a great location and the food is fresh and delicious. the coffee is good and the prices are reasonable considering it's in kingston.

food was ok but nothing special. had the croissant french toast and an apple juice. apple juice was watery and the meal was small for the price. i get the feeling they also charge a 10% surcharge on sunday's (either that or they overcharged me). it's ok but nothing special

stopped by here for brunch as it was recommended by a friend. the coffee here was pretty good! i had split the fc (fried chicken) burger and the pepper steak sanga with a friend. the fc burger was a bit disappointing. the chutney was good but overpowered the flavor. the chicken could have used some seasoning (at least salt) to bring out the flavors. the texture of the chicken was pretty good otherwise. the pepper steak sanga was much better. the bun it was in was perfectly crisp and soft while the meat was pretty flavorful. the fries also hit the spot. i may return to try other dishes at some point.
