good coffee, foodok. living in kingston for 3 months as part of work commitments. the house blend is easy drinking with sweet notes but not much depth as alluded to by a previous reviewer. i have had worse, living in melbourne. am now stuck into aeropressing their light roast nicaraguan single origin, which i quite like. thefoodis a bit of a let down for me. had a version of the mcpenny, and didn't like the choice or quality of ingredients. expensive for the serving portions, and not redeemed by the flavours. overall good feeling, and certainly capitalising on the hipster scene.

this is the second time we’re here, and god it’s a busy place (which usually means good too :)

i remembered it was really good the previous time i went and wanted to show the boyfriend.

drinks came quickly butfoodtook a good 30 minutes. the staff was nice enough to check before we asked about it. the french toast is very good, croissant is drench in syrup but still crunchy. however the 5$ bacon i added is of a tiny portion.
boyfriend’s hash is aromatic, different and quite delicious.

price tag is a bit steep, if we had picked a better time, it might have been an even better experience.

been here twice so far and am planning another trip this week. the banoffee croissant french toast is to die for! just so, so good. all the servers are also super nice and friendly and you're never waiting long. however, i have to say the chips are very very average for the price and were a bit disappointing (if you're charging $10 for a side of chips they need to not seem store bought!), so i recommend avoiding those. still, i can't wait to go back, and thefoodoverall (with the exception of the chips) is delicious. definitely one of the best brunch places in canberra.

we had breakfast here on easter sunday. i liked the vibe and the open kitchen.

i had the the p.u. breaky dog and my husband had the pialligo hash. we found thefoodto be okay, we were definitely expecting more given the great reviews we've read.

just popped in for some brunch, super impressed with thefoodand beverages we recieved; but please ask if i am finished with myfoodbefore you take it away!

we were contemplating taking away the large amount offoodleft behind because it was so delicious, and in any other scenario i have always been asked if i am finished with myfoodbefore it is taken away. super rude, not keen to come back purely because of the customer service. please train your staff not to be shit. thanks

went here a couple of weeks ago. i honestly think thefoodhere is better than the cupping room. thefoodi ordered tasted fresh and vibrant. my absolute favorite was the vegan sandwich which i cannot remember the name ( i am convinced i have alzheimer's disease honestly). they made me full and satisfied without feeling gross. unpictured was a piece peanut butter chocolate brownie which was decadent, chewy and gooey. a must visit in canberra

today we are visiting penny university in kingston. whenever i enter this place i feel like i am transported into the most hipster of hipster havens. i imagine it is somewhere in fitzroy, melbourne. like all good hipster cafes the decor is eclectic and fun, the coffee is amazing and thefoodis seriously over-complicated but also delicious. this is the home of quinoa, kimchi, matcha and even the grain of the moment, freekah. i do appreciate a lunch venue which servesfoodi would never attempt to do at home. i feel like i am getting value for money. let’s talk drinks first.

delicious breakfast. had the avo dish, which had a good serving of avocado, crunchy toast and a really tasty salsa made of quinoa, corn, tomato and cucumber. really fresh and well seasoned with chilli and lemon. good serving size. added bacon, which was cooked crispy and really good.foodis presented really well - the french toast is particularly photo-worthy. decor is really cool with a vintage look of internal brick wall and cool styling. comfy feel. staff were all really friendly and service was quick at peak time on a sunday. quite loud inside, but the courtyard looked really cute and comfy too. coffee was good, not amazing, but good enough. i like my coffee a bit stronger and hotter.

my wife and i have had brunch at penny's on numerous occasions, there's no need to book but it can get very busy. they manage to fit a lot of people in their narrow cafe, maybe to many people... you will get quite familiar with the person sitting next to you when your butt is on their table whilst you struggle to get in and out. that's where the negativity stops and the glory starts. the coffee and thefoodare incredible, there's always something different on the menu that you wouldn't have tried and it's always cooked to perfection. the staff are friendly and very quick to take your order and thefoodcomes out relatively quickly. if you're looking for differentfoodand a good coffee, this may well be your place.

dropped in here when we found me and mrs jones closed for renovations.  very busy on an early sunday morning on the way to the snow.  excellent service and thefoodwas fabulous for adults particularly the avo dish with quinoa.  not much on the menu for children, however they did accommodate with with some sour dough toast.  coffee was excellent and overall it was a great buzzy enviroment.

good service, badfoodand overpriced. no heaters outside.

the waitress was great. had the salmon dish (too small) and a chili/shitake scrambled eggs (made me feel ill).

prices were steep for the size/quality. extra surcharge for sunday and no split bills (painful for a large group).

i've had brunch here twice in the last month with friends and family. noisy, bustling, somewhat cramped seating but service is excellent andfoodis great. probably the first and only time i'll eat green fairy-floss on porridge for breakfast. 😊 the hotcakes are wonderful. the jaffa pancakes are amazing but extremely rich. expect afoodcoma after eating.

one of the first meals we had during our weekend in canberra was at penny university cafe & coffee roasters in kingston. the cafe was super busy when we arrived, with people not only at the tables inside and out, but lining up for takeaway coffee andfoodas well! luckily we were able to snag a table straight away, and the staff were excellent despite the hubbub around them.
