if i could give this place negative stars i would. have ordered coffee from here before, not bad, not amazing. thought i would try it again only this time capp coffee was $6.09, lukewarm, and 20mm down from the top. servo coffee is better and theserviceat a servo is better as well. won’t ever waste my money here again and will advise others not to as well. pathetic

the banana french toast was the amazing. it was caramelised bananas in between croissants. it was definitely a sugar high but so good. we also ordered the savoury pancake with crab and prawns. this had a mango salsa which give it a sweet flavour. the vegetarian poke bowl and the eggs too were good.

overall we enjoyed the food. the only issue was theservicea bit slow given it was a busy sunday and we were a big group. cannot wait to try their new menu soon.

a local favourite in kingston with ample street parking nearby. penny university open early (from 6'ish) for coffee although officially the kitchen is only open from 7am.

and the coffee is good. ristretto and espresso settings spot on with a deep, concentrated mouthfeel and flavour. the single origin of the day in a long black was silky, balanced. a lovely, light fruity acidity with a long medium cocoa finish.

open on a monday (some cafe's on the nearby kingston foreshore are not) and have the convenience of an all-day menu. so you fancy something different for breakfast? just do it!servicewas on par and polite for a cafe. tableserviceif you're dining in. from watching the turnover even early in the week, it is obviously a popular local cafe. for good reason.

on a cold, wintery below-zero canberra winter, the wonton soup went down a treat. the broth light, not overly salty nor overpowering. the wonton's were generous with a sizeable, tasty pork filling. fresh shiitake mushrooms with a springy base of thin egg noodles. kept me warm and satisfied.

will drop by again and again.

delicious breakfast. had the avo dish, which had a good serving of avocado, crunchy toast and a really tasty salsa made of quinoa, corn, tomato and cucumber. really fresh and well seasoned with chilli and lemon. good serving size. added bacon, which was cooked crispy and really good. food is presented really well - the french toast is particularly photo-worthy. decor is really cool with a vintage look of internal brick wall and cool styling. comfy feel. staff were all really friendly andservicewas quick at peak time on a sunday. quite loud inside, but the courtyard looked really cute and comfy too. coffee was good, not amazing, but good enough. i like my coffee a bit stronger and hotter.

dropped in here when we found me and mrs jones closed for renovations.  very busy on an early sunday morning on the way to the snow.  excellentserviceand the food was fabulous for adults particularly the avo dish with quinoa.  not much on the menu for children, however they did accommodate with with some sour dough toast.  coffee was excellent and overall it was a great buzzy enviroment.

i've had brunch here twice in the last month with friends and family. noisy, bustling, somewhat cramped seating butserviceis excellent and food is great. probably the first and only time i'll eat green fairy-floss on porridge for breakfast. 😊 the hotcakes are wonderful. the jaffa pancakes are amazing but extremely rich. expect a food coma after eating.

penny university really knows how to do breakfast. we stopped by on a busy morning and ordered the breakfast dog and the eggs with avocado and quinoa. we had to sit outside because of how popular it was, but there's heaters for the chillier months and theservicewas quick so it didn't bother us. as for the food, the breakfast dog is a great, satisfying breakfast pick, and one you can also order to go. the egg, avocado and quinoa were pretty standard, but still fine. they do great coffee too which is a bonus.

had an excellent breakfast this morning with quality coffee and avocado on toast which was bursting with flavour. as a newbie to canberra i haven't been able to get avo on toast anywhere (i thought it was in the vibe of the constitution that it had to be served). anyways, highly recommended and outstandingservicetoo.

i think this place has gone downhill - i haven't been here for a while, but a $20 breakfast shouldn't leave you hungry, and it shouldn't be lukewarm/cold. had the salmon dish--there was barely any salmon and the egg and asparagus were cold. my sister had the zaatar eggs - guess what, it was one egg, and the accompaniments were cold. surely when you are paying that price for brunch and the dish features eggs in its name, there should be two? also was so difficult to getserviceand we had to wait a long time at the register to pay. disappointing considering i enjoyed going here a few times in the past.
