great place. situated on a good spot :) however i would recommend adding more items to the menu? the pizza and baskets are to die for. friendly wait staff.

a hidden gem. bump into this one and it's an excellent restaurant. we sit outdoor for the sun and view. we order a few dishes. oysters to start, not particularly good maybe due to non-oyster season. mussels in pot, can't stop with those creamy sauce. fish of today, dorado my always favourite. crayfish, i am not a fan of such but this one is really delicious.

wonderful view with the food and service to match. staff are very friendly and on the ball. perfect place for the entire family, four legged members includes.
the food portions are way bigger than expected; not the best presentation, but perfect for casual dining.
the food screams with flavour and freshness.
i'd definitely recommend ons huisie if you're looking for a reliably great place to go grab some chow and catch up with your favourite people.

had an ons huisie breakfast, was very average: watery and cold eggs, a cold pork sausage, one slice of toast with an all gold jam packet (menus states compote), cappuccino was just filtered coffee with frothy milk, i think wimpy offers better value for your money. skip it!

have been here a couple of times, from breakfast, lunch to dinner. outside view is amazing and for the cold winter times inside seating is cozy. food is warm comfort food and if you like seafood, the fish and chips is the dish of the day. calamari is delicious and the food is average prices! i'll call this place "food with a view"!

we chose this place for mother's day because of the view, since it was packed we assumed the food must be good, as my memory serves 6 years ago it was terrible - surprise nothing has changed! i ordered the line fish, it made me sick, it was fishy and pungent when i specifically asked if it was "fishy" e.g like snook or like hake/salmon/dorado. the rest of the table ordered hake, calamari and burgers. the chips were inedible for everyone, cold and stale-like. the hake's fried were somewhat edible (could get better at a fishery), the calamari was good, the burgers were below average and my line fish with lemon mash was by far the worst and most expensive dish. i felt very sick after eating half, not wanting to make a scene i took a takeaway for the dogs including the watery vegetables and yellow rice. this food is disgusting and our table's bill was r2500+ for a big table. totally not worth it. i thought the experience was awful.

what a supremely underwhelming experience. cool venue and location, but if the food isn't good then don't bother to serve it, or tell me that the dish is unavailable. i got yesterday's overcooked, dry bobotie. the bay leaves were so dry i thought it might have been shell fish initially. the only dish reaching palatable status at our table was the hake and chips. never again!

beautiful location on the beach but sat in the back both times i was there so not so fun. some equipment issue meant half the menu was not available during one of my visits. food was good-ish. always packed though so i am sure i was just unlucky.

i recently had a chance to visit ons huisie for a meal with friends. the venue is great and the location is awesome. i had the ostrich bobotie which reality was amazing. the portions are huge and definitely filling. i definitely recommend a visit to this delightful restaurant.

popped in for a quick burger on a friday lunch.. place was quiet,service was fine..mushroom burger with a slice of cheese was ok...a bit dry & grizzly...they used a good quality mushroom but flavour disappointed the poor beautifully grown muchrooms... it's my 2nd lunch in as many weeks..think i will stick to their breakfasts &good coffee

one word that comes to mind when describing this place is.... humble. nice spot right on the beach, you will want to sit outside. i wouldn't say the food is a knock out. just consistent and nice. my favorite thing to eat here are the mussels. if you want a nice spot with nice food and nice venue, then worth a try

have heard about onse huisie for years and wanted to stop and stare at the ocean whilst having lunch. at first glance the outside seating area looks a bit grubby but the views are magnificent.
i chose what seemed to be the most popular, the fish and chips.
the portions are generous and the fish was cooked to perfection and the batter light and crispy. no wonder it is the most popular! chips were a let down sadly and we're not fresh or crispy.
service was patchy with me having to ask for tomato sauce three times. but it was not a bad experience.

ons huisie is fast becoming my local. great location and view, especially when the weather is good. the service is fast and efficient, which is how i like it. their coffee is great and breakfast good. my only issue would be the quality of the bacon, could be better. the lunch and dinner menu will have something to satisfy all tastes. of course seafood is outstanding! i tried the chicken pie last night and that was really great too. this is honest fare. keep it up guys.

what a perfect spot on the beach. pitty that the waiters slow service is not up to scratch. fish and chips brilliant priced and taste. combo much smaller size and dissapointing. although the taste is brilliant. instead order full portion fish and chips and starter calamari. better value.

the service was a bit slow, but the restaurant was very busy.

hake, calamari and chips tasted good, even the tartar sauce. a bit too oily, but everything was deep fried as advertised. the hake missed a salt flavor you get from fresh fish. overall everything tasted good.
i think the value of the meal was a bit over priced.

it was a lovely day, i would recommend this restaurant for a chilled sunday lunch.

parking was limited. we had to walk a bit to the restaurant.
